Tye

Hey, I'm Tye. I'm sure you've heard it a million times, but I'm going to be the next League champion. Believe it. I'm from Unova, Castelia City to be exact, and managed to land in Hoenn in time for the League thanks to my brother, Matt. Matt's a Pokemon Ranger who's working on some secret thingy with a dude named Birch, I don't really care, it sounded kinda boring, so while he's busy being a nerd, I'm gonna take the gym challenge. That'll show our parents who the good son is, right, Oshie?

Oh, right, my partner is an Oshawott. I got Oshie from Professor Juniper a couple weeks before we left and we've been thick as thieves since. He's a little slice of home, but he's kinda shy. Luckily, I'm a lot, so we balance each other nicely. My second pal was a gift from my brother, I call her Ruff'n'tuff, but most would just call her Rufflet.

I'm supposed to meet up with Professor Birch soon and get the whole spheal on what it takes to challenge the Elite four, guess that's how my story begins...

”Order 66!” called the cafeteria lady. Caul stepped forward and grabbed his food. He was starving and all Shaw’s talk about burgers had given him a huuuuuuuge craving for one. Or 3. Being a Jedi was hard work. He was a growing boy–er man, wait, why am I arguing with myself? Caul snapped out of his weird little day dream, flashed the lunch lady an apologetic smile, and snagged his bag of burgers.

The bag was way heavier than he’d expected and he practically dropped it, stopping a little puzzled, he checked the contents, there were four motha’flipping burgers in there, son! Then he realized he was an idiot and probably just grabbed the wrong order by mistake. He turned around with a sappy apologetic smile still plastered on his face and met the lingering gaze of the lunch lady.

“I’m sorry, I think—”
“You didn’t,” answered the Lunch Lady before Caul could finish.
“I didn’t?” he asked dumbly.
She shook her head, “We’re closing up, and I figured you could take a few extra with you, you padawan always look malnourished.”
“Oh, uh, thanks!” said Caul doing his best not to read into this situation at all. The Lunch Lady nodded, winked, then sauntered back to the kitchen like the goddess of burgers she was.

Caul turned around, “Welp, zero people are going to believe that just happned,” he murmured to himself. “What the hell am I going to do with four burgers?” He looked back in the direction of the cookout. Aw, man how lame would I look showing back up after leaving… he wondered, then a light bulb went off and he took off running for his room. If he came back with something then it wouldn’t be like he just totally bailed, it’d be like he was trying to do something nice and people would totally think that was cool.

Caul slid into his room and immediately started rummaging through his stuff, “C’mon, just be somewhere I can get too– Ah, YES!” he whipped around proudly displaying his modded Dejarik table top that came preloaded with ‘The Settlers of Alderaan!’

A few minutes later Caul strode back out into the party zone. Things seemed to have chilled significantly which he promptly thanked the force for. He put his bag of burgers on the ground and set up his table off to the side so it wasn’t in anyone’s way, now he just needed Shaw to smell the burgers he’d brought and the game would be afoot.

Initiation

Two years ago...

The pitter patter of boots through shallow puddles reverberated off the tunnel walls around him.

"Get back here you little shit!" called a lank haired human named Buck. The guy was pissed and tearing down the sewer after the little thief that'd stolen his wallet.

Talon didn't waste any time looking over his shoulder, he was in his home turf. The sewers of Coronet city were a labyrinth of twisting and turning tunnels all spiderwebbing out form the center of the city. It'd been days since his last meal and the few mangey credits the dope behind him carried would go a long way toward a hot meal. His mouth started watering despite the stench of sewer wafting up from the putrid water he was ankle deep in.

The little urchin rounded a corner and—WHAM!

"Gah!?" yelped Talon as he bounced backward into the water. He blinked shaking his head then looked up. A menacing Gammorian leered down at him. The pickpocket didn't waste time apologizing he scrambled backward and started to get up when something snatched him up by the collar of his threadbare vest, "Hrrk!?"

"Gotcha ya, ya little bastard!" barked Buck. He drew back to hit Talon, but the little guy whimpered with tears in his eyes and Buck hesitated... just long enough for Talon to draw back and kick Ole' Buck right in the balls. "OYIIIEEEE!" Squeaked Buck before he let go of Talon and dropped to his knees cupping the shattered remains of his family jewels. Talon quickly fished out the credits from the wallet and threw the empty case back to it's owner, before getting the hell out of there...

"Whew... that was a close one..." he muttered to himself as he took the correct turn and disappeared into the bowels of the city. He was late meeting Driggs. That meant a beating, but since he'd earned a few credits to give, maybe it wouldn't be that bad?

Present day...

Talon's arms pumped as sprinted toward the mouth of the sewer.

"C'mon Drayan, we're almost there!" he called over his shoulder. A blaster bolt slammed into the wall beside him striking a light and spraying the two boys in a shower of sparks, "Shit!" hissed Talon, he stumbled, but he didn't quit moving. They were almost there... Almost to the check point!

"This way, they're trying to escape, Ren send Clepp around. We'll cut'em off!" The voice was one Talon and Dreyan knew well. Driggs. The bastard had kept the two under lock and key for nearly two years before they'd managed to escape and join the Rust Worms... In all honesty, it wasn't really that much of a step up, but you had to mess up pretty good to get a beating, so that was a plus.

Another bolt slammed into the wall scoring the duracrete. Talon covered his face with his arm and ducked. "Man, he's pissed!" yelped Talon.

The mouth of the sewer was five meters away. Waning golden light poured though the mouth as if heave was just through that opening. But Talon knew better. He picked up the pace. His adrenaline starting to peak, he looked over at Dreyan and said, "Last one out has to give up morning rations!"

Then he was airborne... the sewer was behind him and below... well below was a river that he hoped was still deep enough to save his ass.

Carrying the Fire

T H E M E: The concept of "Carrying the Fire" was popularized by Cormack McCarthy's novel: The Road. There's plenty of near theological debate on the idea's true meaning, but many recognize the "Fire" to correlate directly to the concept of "Hope" while the action of "carrying" that "fire" was the sacrifice, those strong enough, made to ensure "Hope's" survival...

The Galaxy is once again broiling in conflict. The Jedi have been called upon, and they will answer. While the council refuses to answer for their complacency, the next generation has seen fit to bear the burden of The Galaxy's Peacekeepers and they couldn't have picked a better time to do so.

This pack is meant to organize the war effort within Jedi Space. The Empire was here and their practically unopposed campaign won't loiter long. Our allies are in danger and it's time to carry the fire. Leon Baudelaire is looking for a handful of Jedi with the hearts of a Firebrand. It was time to remind the galaxy just how bright the Light could burn.

Prompt 1 — (Thread Title) — OPEN Self-DM — 2 participants

The Empire's force is substantial and they move with the precision of a well oiled war machine. If we expect to put up any semblance of a fight we need to slow them down. We're sending you to scout out the Empire's back line, we need info on their supply lines or anything that could lead to a potential advantage. If you see a chance to do some damage, do it. If possible keep casualties to a minimum, but make no mistake... we are at War.

Be safe, and may the Force be with you.

Prompt 2 — (Thread Title) — OPEN Self-DM — 2 participants

A black market parts dealer on Dantooine claims to have a significant piece of tech that could prove to be invaluable to the defense effort. Yes. There's a high probability that this is a trap, but if we aren't willing to turn every stone right now, we'll be buried by our missed opportunities. Attached to this message are the coordinates for the meeting spot. I ran the numbers. It's a scrap yard on Dantooine. I recommend getting there early and building your exit first. Don't take any chances on this.

Be vigilant, be efficient, and get back safe.

Prompt 3 — (Thread Title) — ASK Self-DM — 2 participants

We've caught wind of a conclave happening within our system. It's a gathering of leaders. They're scared. They want to believe in us but they don't exactly have a lot to go on. That's where you come in. Our presence at this meeting will be unexpected, use that surprise to sway our allies back to our side. We can't show weakness in the face of the Empire and we sure as hell can't win this fight alone. Make sure they know that. If there was ever a time to pontificate, here's your chance.

Speak boldly, but with wisdom, and may the Force be with you.

This is the Jedi Scum pack. It'll be centered around the bringing together of like minded people to work towards a common goal. If you can't read the sarcasm in that stop reading. It's about war baby. We're building an army and empowering planets that have been under the Empire's thumb for too long.
