JEDI TEMPLE, ITHOR
6.30pm local time
It was a rare thing for the Jedi to come together. With their numbers scattered and their duties many, the members of the Order almost never had chance to gather and reflect as a family. But when it mattered, they made the time.
A Knighting Ceremony was one such occasion. A ritual evolved over thousands of years, it marked the advancement of a Jedi Padawan to the rank of Knight; a full-fledged member of the Order with the skills and experience to be a beacon of light and an envoy of hope.
It had been four years since Dash Pavan had left his childhood home on Rhinnal to join the Jedi Order. That decision had indeed been one of hope, but also fear. Fear of what he might become without the guidance and support of those who knew the Force. It had turned out to be one of the smarter decisions he had made. In that short time, he had learnt much about what it meant to be a Jedi, to go from Padawan to Knight, from boy to man.
Dash fiddled again with the strap of his shoulder cape. His Knighthood had been somewhat in doubt these last few weeks, but now everything was settled he was not sure it needed to be such a public affair. However, the Council were determined to use the Knighting as a springboard to portray growth and vitality in the Order and he would be lying if he didn't admit part of him loved having a special day.
He stood awkwardly in the quiet clearing, pacing the makeshift aisle between the lines of benches that had been laid out. From what he knew, the senior Jedi attending would stand at the front and there would be some pomp and ceremony. He would probably have to say some special words or something similar, no doubt with Hera (@Black Noise ), Zathria (@Phoenix ) and maybe the Grandmaster herself (@Valen Pelora ) looming over him.
What concerned him far more in a way was that most of the Jedi he had come up with would be sitting behind him, just watching and waiting for him to screw this up. Whooping Leon (@Zay ) and chin-jutting Ferrin (@Altaris ), studious Vand (@LouJoVi ) and probably a whole host of others. Maura (@lizziie ) and Lia (@LadyRen ) had clearly been involved in the prep; no one else could have thought flowers petals were necessary or appropriate.
The Ithor sun was dipping towards the horizon, but the heat of the long summer's day had yet to dissipate. It was a formal occasion and Dash had dressed in formal Jedi attire, albeit with a shoulder cape with as much flair as he dared. He hoped the official bit would not last too long; he was already itching to undo his collar and get to the buffet, drinks and dancing.
He peered around as people began arriving and taking their seats, painting on a relaxed smile even as he started panicking inside.
Where the hell was Ezra?! (@Sreeya )
