Atuu, born aboard a merchant vessel to a mother and father of the venerable Clan Skirata was one of few in a small band roaming the stars. The remnants of the once revered empire builders now scattered through the galaxy found their footing after the small conclave was attacked in transit while returning to Concord Dawn laden with goods, assailed by pirates in the Concord System the small crew prepared to defend themselves. Atuu being only a boy at the time was not lucky enough to be spared of the violence as his father was a firm believer in the strength of the Mandalorians of old; Death Watch. A blaster was thrust in to his arms and he was positioned alone to defend the door to the bridge of the ship in the event the pirates made it past the others but the boy was lucky that day. The boarding party was repulsed with minimal casualties to the crew, and the ship continued on it's trade run to Concord Dawn, this was only the beginning of the ships misfortune in the stars though.

As Atuu grew in age his father continued to teach him what it meant to be a Mandalorian, how to fight and how to use a weapon to keep himself and his Vod alive. Atuu was amongst the ships newly loaded cargo when he heard what started out as raised voices then commotion and finally the ring of blaster fire, as he ran towards the commotion with blaster in hand he found a sight that broke his teenage heart. There was his close friend and clan brother slumped against the bulkhead in the cargo area, and in the distance a pair of aliens making off down the corridor of the port, clearly they had jumped him but for what reason Atuu would never know. Just as he was about down the cargo ramp and raising his blaster to shoot he felt the hand on the back of his collar and was quickly thrown backwards, the assailant was not who he thought, instead of seeing his fathers armor as he raised his head it was another alien thug; a one-eyed Gungan wielding a long knife was making for his chest. But the crack of a blaster rang out over Atuu's head and temporarily left him cupping the sides of his head as he looked over to see his father standing above him and the Gungan sprawled out on the ramp; without words Atuu's father closed the ramp and the ship left the port in short order.

With the loss of his closest friend Atuu became seclusive in his free time and relegated himself to more classical past times, the study of history and an obsession with the heroic pilots of the old republic, the rebellion and alike were some of the things he occupied himself with. Pleading with his father shortly after the crew acquired a fighter escort ship, Atuu wanted nothing more than to become competent in the cockpit. Having logged some stick time maneuvering the freighter was one thing but getting his hands on the stick of a TIE/RG was enough of an idea to turn the young man in to a basket case until his father decided to let him. Atuu quickly took to researching the manuals and old holos about piloting this vessel and in time became a competent pilot, not long after this the greatest tragedy of his life struck. While he was refueling his fighter on a platform over Naboo he was watching the freighter his clan was aboard going through it's normal landing sequence when his helmet came to life. A panic was in his father's tone, a tone he had heard only once before and he was frantic in his words to Atuu but in the background he could hear the distressed crew shouting about the hyperdrive malfunction; before Atuu could even pull his helmet on the freighter punched through the space above the station and in to an un-plotted course. Already low on fuel, the ship that jumped at random was considered lost by the Free World's Alliance shortly after they began trying to track the ships black box. Leaving Atuu with the TIE/RG and his possessions to attempt to piece together what the fate of his family may be.


PERSONALITY
Atuu could be described as a quiet and calculating young man, until someone speaks up about a topic he has knowledge in. Fast to add his opinion and experience in the mix when a plan is being made; Atuu is also the last one to pipe up in a social situation for his upbringing was naturally seclusive and the loss of his brother and friend shook him further from making connections outside of his known people. He is a skilled pilot and is not afraid to volunteer for things even deemed 'one way missions' by most due to his obsession with the heroics of the starfighters of old. Atuu can be seen occupying himself with maintenance and it can be seen as obsessive by some, burying himself in his work seems to be the only thing that brings peace to his mind when he is not working in some capacity.

Mandalorian Flight Armor


Although heavy armor is the preference for many Mandalorians- especially front line shock troopers- many Mandalorian Pilots and Flight Crew make use of lighter armor that allows them more mobility and flexibility for completing their tasks, while still offering reliable protection and the intimidating presence of their signature t-visors. With the increasing rarity of pure Beskar, many Mandalorians have turned to lighter armor styles that allow them more flexibility and maneuverability to make up for their decreased defensive properties of inferior armor materials. Like all Mandalorian armor, every one of these suits is unique to their wearer, and the range of customization options is huge but these flight suits provide a baseline to it's wearers. Allowing them to operate in a cockpit and on the ground with it's functionalities.



LEGALITY

Mandalorian armor, though rare, is not illegal in most places. That said, wearing a full face helmet in public spaces is frowned upon, and often illegal in many core worlds, especially in or near government facilities- not to mention that many identification cards in various systems require a full face photo. This drives many strict adherents of "the way" to operate exclusively on the fringes of the galaxy.

This provides a standard issue medium armor for Mandalorian Pilots & Crew.

  • Head: A full coverage beskar-alloy helmet with transparisteel t-visor with attachable breathing tubes

Functions



Function 1: Rebreather

  • Rebreathers, whether built into a helmet or a separate mask, allow for the wearer to breath underwater or in space for brief amounts of time by scrubbing CO2 from their exhaled breath and recycling it. Generally this lasts for up to 5 posts, but heavy exertion can shorten that time.
Function 2: Emergency Vac-Suit

  • It's no replacement for a dedicated spacesuit if you intend to EVA, but this under suit, when combined with a helmet, can protect the wearer from the immediate effects of exposure to a vacuum for up 5 posting rounds. You still need a way to breathe, however.
Function 3: Life Support Box

  • Life support boxes are emergency gear designed to be worn in conjunction with other safety equipment, such as vac-suits and rebreathers. The device can be manually activated via a switch on the chest box, but most also automatically engage when exposed to vacuum. When activated, the device projects a small mag-shield "bubble" around the user that is just strong enough to contain a tiny amount of livable atmosphere. Life support boxes double the protection provided by vac seals and rebreathers- however, without other protective gear, the life support box itself provides only 3 rounds of protection from the elements. It also contains a high power distress beacon that the broadcasts the pilots precise coordinates to any ship within a parsec. The distress beacon can be manually deactivated, and can broadcast for much longer time than its wearer can survive.
Function 4: Computer Spike

  • Computer spikes are used to forcibly decrypt or unlock computer terminals. Most civilian systems can be cracked in one posting round, while most military or hardened systems take two or more.

DESCRIPTION
The J-Type was developed by Theed Palace Space Vessel Engineering for use by the Nubian Court on official visits and taskings. This craft is equipped with long range communication suites and life-support for its diplomatic compliment while on missions and in travel from the Outer Rim to the Core, this craft was also plated in Cromium to denote its regality. During the times of galactic conflict or even general travel it can be seen accompanied by a compliment of (4) N-1 Starfighters and the royal entourage is typically accompanied by several of the palace guard.

Boasting a capacity to accompany supplies for (10) up to (3) months out in the reaches of space this craft is not shy on creature comforts either. Being fit for royalty it has several meeting rooms and common spaces for diplomatic needs as well as chambers for crew and hand-maidens of the queen, if she is the one using the vessel. Entering and exiting the craft is done through a rear facing ramp that lowers from beneath the cockpit area, the cockpit itself is rearward on the craft allowing for excellent forward visibility but relies on scanners to cover the blindspot of the rear; or it's fighter escort. The J-Type can also accommodate 30 tons of cargo making it useful for short range relief missions or an exodus of the royal family in times of trouble on Naboo.

Seeing one of these craft beyond the reaches of the Naboo System or its allied stars is a surprise to be sure but a welcome one. Typically found docked at the palace hangar one could also expect to see a craft like this or it's cousin vessels landed at the meetings of the Free Worlds Alliance or it's late counter part The New Republic.

DESCRIPTION
The M-08 "Viper" Starfighter was designed by the Hoersch-Kessel engineering team after the end of the Clone Wars. The design borrows its style directly from the Naboo N-1 Starfighter. A ship that Hoersch-Kessel's parent company lost a Lucrehulk-class Battleship to over Naboo, in the aftermath of this battle The Trade Federation expressed enormous interest in the design. But due to the needs of the war effort it stayed as that, merely interest. But luckily for Hoersch-Kessel the ownership of the company was destined to change hands several times over as the Clone Wars wound down. Further changing several times during the era of Galactic Civil War.

With the majority of their manufacturing capabilities shutting down as a cost saving measure by their Nimbanese owners in the wake of the Clone Wars; Hoersch-Kessel was on their back foot. Told to sort out their own creditflow issues by the ownership Hoersch-Kessel revisited drawing board. The design team got to work digging out the previous concepts and notes on smaller craft. As several other shipyards had secured contracts to supply the Galactic Empire with their capital sized craft at this time. After narrowing down the most promising designs the team decided to present the M-08 "Viper" to the executive team siting the gaps in the market.

They justified the need for smaller, defensive screening and multi-roled craft. While still retaining some of the stylization that initially captivated the eye the team pitched a number of things to differentiate this craft from the market at the time. The M-08 Viper sports two forward facing medium laser cannons and in the place of a standard astro-socket that other fighters commonly install, a ball turreted dual ion cannon. In order to be a proper threat the addition of the ion cannon was one point the engineering department wouldn't compromise on. Instead sacrificing the maximum speed to counter the added weight of a gunner and armaments. They also lobbied that with the compromise in speed they might as well beef up the shield capacity. Naturally extra capacitors were added in place of the planned additional cargo capacity.

When the design finally hit production in the year 21 ABY, it was marketed to the galaxy as a multi-role fighter favoring it's strong defensive capabilities. Able to accompany merchant convoys and fleets of varying sizes so long as they are able to re-supply from a mother-ship of some sort. Although it makes several compromises, these craft highlight their strengths when in proximity to one another and often deter pirates or smaller interdiction fleets. Often referred to as "Flying in to the viper's nest" by would be attackers, the M-08's compromises show when outnumbered by superior craft or are caught alone.

Because of the lack of maximum speed compared to other fighters the Viper can frequently be out classed by even average fighter pilots; if it is caught alone and outnumbered. Although it can take a beating to the shields, having to rely on them is often a daunting prospect to the pilots who choose to fly these vessels. Preferring rather to screen attacking forces within the safety of larger ships weaponry or point defenses. Allowing their ion cannons to leave enemy craft as easy pickings for more agile attack craft.

LEGALITY
Restricted. Ownership of the M-08 Viper subjects owners to extra licensing processes and will draw the eye of authorities in more civilized systems.

INTENT
The intent is to create a capable defensive geared fighter for use by the player base and as a set-piece in navies.

ADVANCED TECH
No. Although the Viper is equipped with an Ion Cannon it lacks speed and requires a full crew to be at it's peak performance. It also has a variety of compromises that make it a very situational craft to take in to a fight.

What is going to happen in your plot?
Atuu Skirata and his newly adopted foundling Rezyl Azzir travel to the world of Kalevala in order to return to mandalorian space. Seeking to further enrich Rezyl in the culture, but soon find the settlement they were going to visit has been oppressed. Firmly under the thumb of a criminal element known as The Foul-Treasure Band. A group of pirates who have been able to consistently return and demand tribute and take women as slaves as payment to stave off violent reprisal. This has been allowed to happen due to the weakened state of the Mandalore System post purge. So Atuu and Reyzl put out a call for assistance on the holo-net from any capable mandalorians who wish to fight these enemies. In turn three others arrive Kar Darakis, Arden Kryze and Skudru Vizsla. Together the group fights off the oppressors and liberates the settlement from bondage.

Please provide a basic in-character timeline of what you expect to happen. Include opposition type for each thread:

Hardly Knew Her. - The four mandalorians and the foundling convene outside of the settlement to do some initial recon on the forces present, the locals have given them an idea of how many come but they need to confirm it to make a game plan. (Recon thread w/Dice to establish number of enemies)
[*] There's Always A Bigger Fish - The team now with a plan, move to ambush the members of The Foul-Treasure Band and will fight the pirates killing as many as it takes to make them retreat. Making a point that they need to find other parts of space to shake down and that this settlement is not a target anymore. (Can be SelfDM or Dice)
[*] Foul No Fingers - The team has just finished the fighting, the blasters are still hot and the dead have yet to stiffen. A ship lands in the clearing after they believe they have won the day but the fighting isnt over yet. The Foul-Treasure's leader Foul No Fingers and his personal guard attempt to make a final push and kill the liberators. (Potentially Staff DM'd boss fight? Death Disabled)

With the settlement liberated these mandalorians have come to realize they have formed a bond forged in the havoc of combat. Together they number enough to form the beginnings of a tribe. (Formation of a PC Indie Group "Mandalorian Brotherhood"

Do you need any involvement of canon NPCs or faction leaders to be DMed by a staff member? If so, please detail who/what and for what purpose.
Possibly having a staff member control the NPC boss and his small personal guard, maybe even numbers (5v5) or (5v4).
