Pan's Training

[Ols]

"Good morning," she said, opening her eyes and gesturing for him to sit before the table, "I take it you have your crystal. Today you will construct your lightsaber. First, meditate before the table and select the parts you are to use. Do not touch them, do it only with the Force."

 

[Joker]

"Good morning Master." Pan took out his crystal and set it down on the table carefully. He then settled into meditate, clearing his mind and opening himself to the Force. With it he searched through the parts on the table until he found the proper components. One by one he lifted them and moved them into a neat and organized line.

 

[Ols]

"Good," she encouarged, "now don't break your meditations and with the Force, fit the parts together before you. Be meticulous and don't make a mistake."

 

[Joker]

Pan registered her words without breaking concentration. The pieces began to lift off the table floating before him and slowly began piecing themselves together, each bit starting to click into its proper place like a puzzle.

 

[Ols]

She watched as they fitted together, "Good," she said, "now feel each part, use the Force to guide you and complete it."

 

[Joker]

Pan ended up with two halves of a cylinder. He lifted the crystal and fit it into place at the center. He double checked that the rest of the saber's innards were all in their proper places and then sealed the two pieces together. The completed hilt was slightly curved and longer than most, to better fit his hands. When everything was in order he made it spin around in the air, examining the finished project with care.

 

[Ols]

She examined it in the air. It looked good to her.

"Turn it on," she said.

 

[Joker]

Pan let it fall into his palm and switched it on, nearly purring when the blue blade materialized with a hum. He gave it an experimental twirl, satisfied.

 

[Ols]

It was well made. She sat in a medative stance and motioned for him too, as well.

"Close your eyes and meditate," she said, "feel the life around you. The plants, the trees, the fish in the ponds, the insects, the other Jedi. See them through the Force."

 

[Joker]

"Yes Master."

Pan shut down his light saber and clipped it to his belt before joining her. He cleared his mind once again, settling easily into a meditative state. He did as she instructed, reaching out to feel the life all around them.

 

[Ols]

"What do you see?" she asked.

 

[Joker]

"Colors. I think. The living things... They are very bright." Pan answered softly, trying to maintain focus as he spoke.

 

[Ols]

"Focus on them," she said, "pick apart each being and look at them. Do you see each one? Do you see each living? Look at me. Hear my heartbeat. Feel the swaying of the trees in the breeze. Do you see it?"

 

[Joker]

Pan shifted his focus to his Corina and listened as instructed, losing himself in the feeling of the Force. It was strong around his Master, swirling and peaceful.

"I....I believe so, Master."

 

[Ols]

"Now look at me," she said, "what do you see?"

 

[Joker]

"The Force, Master. It is all around you. White, almost. Maybe. Peaceful." Pan responded. He stirred briefly, shifting in to a more comfortable position. "Do all Jedi look this way?"

 

[Ols]

"I have not seen all Jedi," she said, "and everyone sees differently through the Force. Now, keep looking at me. Focus on me and feel my emotions. Feel my past and my present. What do you see now?"

 

[Joker]

Pan did as instructed, searching deeper. "You... You have known many tragedies." He said slowly. "Losses and pain. But now... Now you are quite calm."

 

[Ols]

"Good," she said. Then she stopped meditating and looked at him, "What do you feel between us. Do you feel a bond?"

 

[Joker]

"A bond..." Pan frowned trying to feel for it. "There is something, Master. Small. But I would not expect much yet, we've not known each other long."
