Not entirely. The prerequisite would be to either be an earthbender or have recent enough ancestry to the Earth Kingdom or an earthbender. So your character would still have a chance technically speaking.

Picked earthbender cause I liked the idea of a guy who would seem unsuited to being one.

I do concur though, we have a LOT of people rn, and at the least we might wanna do more than one thread at a time

Well, I see two ways to go about having all of our characters in one place, some sort of festival gathering or public event, such the final major pro-bending match of the season, or there is a riot leading to a fight between benders and members of the Alliance. I'm down for either, fight or cultural exploration. We could even start the thread with the pro-bending match but then the Alliance shows up.

Tivris is adorable, he is the type of bender the Shadow Benders would look out for too, even if he never joined up with them at one point or another he'd get targeted by anti-benders or even targeted by the Alliance, but I could definitely see Jalas or some random members of the Shadow Benders stepping up to defend him.​

The final pro-bending match of the season seems like it could be an interesting start, could give everyone a reason for being in one place and be a cool kick start stuff. The Alliance could ambush the event and call everyone into action, leading to the more personal stories and individual threads that take place after that attack

Well the two groups could develop as some flee the scene they just so happen to flee together in the same general direction. Maybe theirs a bunch heading in a direction and most of the group gets picked off but say our characters and then it developed a friendship over time. And they are staying together and fighting the same fight but go separate missions simultaneously. Maybe have the group assault point a. But one group has their story of assaulting the eastern side and then b has their view of the western side or something. But in the end they keep in touch or what ever

Well for the most part my character will be showing the Shadow Benders and their side of things, RPing between Jalas and those interested in joining or working with the Shadow Benders, as well as those whom the Shadow Benders come to the aid of. Jalas would likely hate pro-bending, mainly because of his parents deaths happening after walking home from a pro-bending match, but also because he wouldn't view it as real bending. Having fought a secret war nearly half his life would likely make him jaded towards pro-bending as a sport. I do think he'd go though, along with other prominent members of the Shadow Benders, just incase the Alliance tried to make a move.

Other than that I'm sure I could squeeze him into just about anything.

@Phantom maybe Jalas and Mika see each other at the match and start up a conversation about back when they had been friends. Next thing they know, the Alliance attacks and both rush somewhere private to change into their masks. As the Mizukage, he'd likely have heard about an earthbender going by the name Gaia, and Mika might have even come into conflict with Mizukage and other members of the Shadow Benders because of her work as a CSI. We could do a thread set after the opening one where Gaia is offered a chance to join the Shadow Benders. This thread would also be open to anyone else interested in joining the Shadow Benders as well.

Ok to also clarify, Koda is a blind airbender. He uses hypersensativity to see. The air bending version of Toff with earthbending. And I wouldn't mind the monk joining a group or aiding Gaia. He's going to be a little more rebellious of a monk.

Thanks Undine, I tried to get a good mix between Oliver twist inspirations and Aladdin, I would say he's probably more like a young Aladdin and i think he would probably know the Shadow Benders and they would look out for him, with him occasionally hang out with them and trying to convince him to join but with him always refusing because preferring to go solo. Thinking about it I should probably use "one jump ahead" as his theme

The Shadow Benders aren't real secretive around people they know, since they would have been looking out for him for a few years or so, I'd say it's likely he'd be welcome in and out of their base no problem. If you wanted he could even learn a thing or two from the earth bending members of the gang, even if he didn't join the more benders that know how to defend themselves the better in their eyes.

I'm thinking about having the gang's leader, the Tsuchikage be an earthbending master who runs a dojo for earth benders. Traditional earthbending, pro-bending, as well as non-bending martial arts. I might make him an older character, mid 40's or so, as well as a retired pro-bender. Hell, considering how few female characters there are (last count had it at 6 males, 2 woman) I might just make him a woman. It'd be cool to explore a darker version of Suyin Beifong's character type.​

We'll want to form a group eventually, once the conflict starts to amp up and our characters have officially joined together, we could introduce the big bad so the group is at it's lowest point. Personally, that's when I'd introduce the Avatar. Chances are unless someone else ends up making a waterbender, I'll be the one teaching the Avatar to waterbend. From there, since there is only one Firebender, they are likely to end up being the Firebending teacher and so on with Air and Earth. Team Avatar assemble.

As for your monk Talon, I think he'd be a good fit with the Shadow Benders, there are few if any Airbenders in the gang, but his personality would fit quite well. He and Mei could fight it out as to who gets to be Kazekage, Wind Shadow.​
