No, I didn't. There have been previous tournaments before this one. I just checked to see if anyone was interested in participating in another one. The admins actually MAKE the tournament, especially since I won't just be watching on the sidelines.

Oh ok, my bad. I wasn't sure.

Don't worry about it; you didn't know.

Storm tells me that this will become the next Grand Tournament if it does start off, but could it not be just a sort of... side event, per se?

So rather than us using the tournament boards that are already there and formats people are familiar with and just having a "Grand Tournament", you want us to create a side event to a grand tournament thus causing the Grand tournament itself not to take place?

No, nevermind. :/ That's not what I was proposing at all, though.

Don't never mind. If you want us to sort this tournament out, you could at least make sure we know what your proposal is.

Myself, and it seems the rest of the staff, were under the impression that you wanted there to be a site wide, large tournament for any characters that wanted to be involved. IE the same sort of thing as the Grand Tournament has been in the past.

Now you say you'd rather it be a side event, implying you want something much smaller than what the Grand Tournament usually has been, and therefore not being able to accommodate everyone who's interested.

Please give us an idea of your proposal if you want us to do something about getting a tournament hosted.

Alright. This is something I've formulated just recently, so if the staff would rather continue as though this were going to be the Grand Tournament, that's fine.

My idea as a sort of "side event" was phrased poorly. However, it mostly is me being under the impression that the "Grand" tournament should actually be grand, and not some cluster **** of whoever feels like joining. The definition of the word grand itself is here, and although I'm sure you know what it means, it insinuates that the tournament would be magnificent.

Why not have it so that instead of a single tournament for the entire timeline or entire year or however it's set up, what about a series of events that CREATES the Grand Tournament? There could be, for example, four separate "preliminary" contests and the top four from each would be selected to participate in the Grand Tournament, which I believe you said has 16 competitors.

That's just my idea. :| I myself love to RP battles and the like, and equally enjoy participating in tournaments. Rather than have one, why not five? It might require more planning and that sort of stuff, but yeah.

The Grand Tournament is the site wide tournament for anyone who wishes to participate. It's not limited to 16 competitors, as I said that's how many usually are interested and follow through. The Grand Tournament doesn't happen every timeline or every year, it happens whenever someone is willing to host it and enough people are interested. We're not going to start discriminating between a "cluster**** of whoever" and who we think are more established or worthy RPers.

If more than 16 people apply, then we'll have qualifying, and as I've said, it might be the case that given there's been a few in the past, if successful Tourament RPers return it might be an idea to introduce some kind of seeding system, or just let it go with the luck of the draw. It depends how many people sign up, after all.

People have lost interest in the grand tournament as a whole many times.

I am 100% sure this tournament would never get to the final rounds because everyone would get bored and not bothered

Just keep the single grand tournament format imo.

Though there have been Grand Tournaments that have been completed. Depending on how long the Tournament goes, the end might be around a holiday which would mean there would be more activity.

Let's just go with this being the Grand Tournament, I think. It's easier and requires less arguing.

I still need admin feedback, because I'd really rather this not die.

The discussion died off a bit, but we're discussing it again.

Hooray!

Oh and also, might I suggest placing restrictions on power armor? It'd hardly be fair of people like myself to join with godly space-marine type characters... =P
And yes Nevermore, this means I will likely just join with Dalang or one of my other non-fuzzy-space-marine characters.

I'll probably join as Sheifeng lol. I hope he doesn't have to battle a jedi... he doesn't have anything to save his awesome swords.

Another tournament could be fun, provided it doesn't go the way of every other tournament before it... and just randomly die.

I think a move back to the old 48hours to post or you lose rules would be better. The more lenient warning system was too lenient on slow posting.
