[Ru the Boatswain]

"Not exactly bleak..."The holocron dimmed. "His differ from mine slightly. His are just very interesting." He put it in his pocket." But I'm sure this discussion is over for now?"

 

[Ols]

"No," she said plainly, "what do you believe then, if you don't take old Tronius' word as lore? By the way, you do know what happened to him don't you?"

 

[Ru the Boatswain]

"Yes I do know what happened to him." He combed his fingers through his hair. Pollen or something. His hair was like a magnet to it. "But that was long before either of us were born."

 

[Ols]

"It may have been, but do you not agree that you should learn from the past? Tell me what you truly believe about those lines in the code."

 

[Ru the Boatswain]

"The code is like I said, each jedi's outlook on life."

 

[Ols]

"I'm not bothered about each Jedi, Colm, I'm bothered about you. Will you please stop being so evasive and just tell me how you see it and if you understand that it is not the law, nor is it saying that we should be devoid of, and not susceptible to, emotion, ignorance, passion, chaos and death, but should strive to right our own wrongs and stay in control?"

 

[Ru the Boatswain]

"Control...Maybe we should be in control of all of our emotions. All of the world around us...Jedi's emotion unchecked can cause chaos. Our very thoughts can kill. Maybe they should be controlled...I don't know where my thought process is going." He shoved his hands into his pockets and leaned back on his heels slightly.

 

[Ols]

"Control is exactly what the code is telling us," she said, emphatically, "The first word in every line refers to something that we will experience at some point in our lives. But if we strive to control these things and have faith in the Force, then, even though we feel and experience these things, we can still be good people. For instance, you cannot be devoid of emotion, such an idea is ludicrous, but if you keep your emoions in check and control them, then you will be at peace and can evaluate things with a clear head. Do you see how it works?"

[Ru the Boatswain]

((But I haven't a clue, I'm out of it so I'll play stupid.))

"I see your point. But what about the second part of each line? Is that supposed to be how to counter or control each of those, or maybe the outcome of controlling each of the first stated?"

 

[Ols]

"In a way," she said, "think of it as though if you control or strive to right the first part, in my example emotion, then you will achieve the latter, in my example peace. Or in the second line, if you strive to right your ignorance, although you will always be ignorant of some things, you will achieve knowledge. Do you see?"

 

[Ru the Boatswain]

"I see...Very well, that is enlightening."

 

[Ols]

"Yes," she said, "if you actually do understand and agree with what I mean. I must ask, how do you feel you have trained?"

 

[Ru the Boatswain]

"We have done well. I think I have learned much. I don't know what else I could possibly learn." He took his hands oput of his pockets and spread them wide," Of course there is, but I can't think of anything right now."

 

[Ols]

"Indeed," she said softly, "but what do you think you would accomplish as a Jedi?"

 

[Ru the Boatswain]

"I really don't know. With what has been happening on Coruscant I don't know what will happen next."

 

[Ols]

"Then what do you hope to accomplish as a Jedi?"

 

[Ru the Boatswain]

"Well...with whats been happening on Coruscant, It will hard to predict. I hope to go to Coruscant and just stay there."He shrugged. Things tended not to go the way they are ever planned so it tended to br a mystery with Colm.

 

[Ols]

"What do you want to do on Coruscant?" Corina asked, intrigued.

 

[Ru the Boatswain]

"I like it there. I lived there for some time and have...friends on the planet. Maybe If we are both there I can introduce them to you."

 

[Ols]

"Maybe," she said, "but the life of a Jedi is not about spending time with your loved ones. It's a life of sacrifice, and devotion to a cause, of the light side. And I wonder how much you would devote yourself to this cause. If the Jedi asked you to go on a mission on the other side of the galaxy, and it looked like you were going to be there for a long time, would you?"
