Would not suggest that considering there's the Commissar, a Lieutenant and a Colonel just waiting for someone to **** up. In fact they might just decide to chew your ass regardless of what you did.

Also, question: When the Regiment does get deployed, who's gonna be our enemy? Orks? Chaos? Tyrnaids? Necrons? Tau? Eldar? Dark Eldar?

yeah last thing we want is the line to bend coz of faulty equipment that goes bang in your face or our hands being cut off

I consider them to be Chaos all the same just for the fact that they committed the ultimate act of heresy of defying the Emperor. So they die too. Though somehow I prefer the regiment to be facing orks, before having a chaos warband to descend and getting some three way war up in there.

I'm tied between design one and design 3 but design 1 is the one i'm leaning towards

I'm privvy to design four, but design one seems the favorite. However, the gas-mask regiments usually have a reason for them; Krieg is all kinds of radiation, the wastes of Armeggedon have a load of unbreathable pollutants, and so forth. Hesperus is a not-quite garden world, so there wouldn't be a need for the masks.
