The Klosslands, Ajan Kloss

The best part of being in the jungle alone was being able to explore the wide world around her. No one to bother her and no one to order her around. Kegari has always been on her own and made her own rules. But now knowing that she’s a forceful, she has to be extra cautious of her newfound ability. Without training, she could use the Force without realizing it or even recklessly.

Making her way through the murkiness of the jungle she tried her best to stay quiet. She knew that there could potentially be other Padawan students or perhaps other Jedi that most likely knew more than she does. It’s not like she needed friends, she’s been independent since birth. But a bit of guidance would be nice, she didn’t know much about the Jedi and their ways of living, only stories. That wasn’t enough, especially since she was told that she was Jedi candidate material.

Kegari was alone, until she sensed another presence. Perhaps another student, perhaps the Master, or just another person, or worse the enemy. Whatever it was, it interrupted Kegari’s moment of peace. “Who’s there”? Kegari whispered to herself. She had wondered what this presence was here for.

Staying on guard and holding her blaster just in case it was an intruder, Kegari stood behind the tree to not make herself an easy target. Kegari being the survivor she is, instantly was put into survival mode. Sensing the presence was near, Kegari stayed on guard but eased back realizing that they were not enemy forces, perhaps they were a student just like she is or another local.

Brahe had been practicing with his new lightsabers, one a shorter, shoto style blade, while the other was a more conventional length.Their golden yellow hue cast a slight reflection on the foliage around him as he continued to practice his combinations and deflections against a training droid in the middle of the forest. He wore his Jedi attire, a training helmet covering his face and forcing him to use the force to sense the area around him. But in typical Brahe fashion, the padawan failed to notice the Pantoran girl approach, his attentions focused on deflecting the stun bolts being fired by the training droid and on honing his skills dual wielding the two blades.

It was a definite departure from what he was used to, but he felt this new setup would better prepare him to fight any potential lightsaber wielding adversaries. With the return of the Sith, he felt he might need those skills more than ever at this point.

Then he heard her voice, and stopped, deactivating the training droid and raising the helmet off of his head. He turned to the tree she hid behind, raising an eyebrow.

“Uhh, hello?” He waved, looking around, not realizing she was literally behind the tree he was looking at, at that very moment.

Kegari noticed the Jedi practicing his lightsaber skills, and dreaming of the day she will finally be able to wield one of them. One day Kegari, one day... she thought to herself as she heard the other Jedi finally speak. “Hello, nice to meet you. I’m Kegari”. Should I say of Pantora or my resident planet? Or should I just leave it at just my name”? Kegari thought to herself when she introduced herself. She’s Pantoran, although she’s never actually been to the planet. Not physically at least, only in her Force visions.

“And yourself”? Kegari asked unsure of what to say about his lightsaber skills, when she’s never picked up a lightsaber in her life. She was still all new to this, after discovering her Force sensitive abilities, Kegari was brought here to meditate, meet other Jedi students, and eventually learn the ways of the Jedi. But it was far harder than she imagined, Kegari was believed to have been assigned a Master and then go from there. She’s only heard stories about the Jedi, she never really knew what actually happened after initiation.

She admired his lightsaber skills,
“Those are some nice lightsaber skills you got there”. Kegari complimented as she looked at him and smiled. She didn’t know how to tell him that she was eager to wield one herself. Although she wasn’t at that point in her training yet. “Patience young one, it will happen in due time”. Kegari heard the voices in her head again reminding her that her time will come for her to craft and wield her own lightsaber.

Brahe smiled and deactivated his lightsabers, placing them on his belt.

“I’m Brahe. Nice to meet you! Are you a Jedi as well?”

He said, figuring that only the Jedi were on Ajan Kloss, save for a few locals. But she didn’t look native to the planet, that was for sure. Brahe stretched his arms out, taking a deep, yawning breath before wiping his brow of sweat that had accumulated during training.

His master Mila had disappeared, and with that event having occurred in his life, he couldn’t help but feel that he needed to be ready to take care of himself, to deal with the Sith in the event that conflict arose. The galaxy was now a tumultuous place, and he felt it was necessary now more than ever before in his life. But at the same time, preparing for war wasn’t very Jedi-like…..if anything it was the same mistake the Jedi Order had made during the clone wars. They were supposed to be keepers of the peace, not soldiers.

Kegari smiles at the young Jedi, she supposes she’s a Jedi but not officially.

“Hey nice to meet you as well, well I’m not officially a Jedi but I was sent here after I discovered my Force sensitive abilities”. Kegari explained. She wasn’t sure what she could say to him. She didn’t want to lie, as that wasn’t the Jedi way and she didn’t want to say no, although she’s not at least not yet. “I suppose you are a Jedi”? Kegari asked as she was quite impressed with his lightsaber skills.

“I don’t have a lightsaber yet, suppose that day will come”. Kegari sighed she knew she had to be patient. Her eagerness would be the better of her, as she was excited. She’s only heard stories about the Jedi, little did she know that she has the potential to actually be one.

Kegari senses that Brahe was thinking about his master, Mila. She had disappeared most likely wondering about where she went and if she’s even alive. However, it was time for him to be on his own.
“I’m sorry about your Master”. Kegari expresses her sentiments to Brahe’s Master.

"I am a jedi. Jedi Padawan, Brahe Sienar-Wren."

Brahe raised an eyebrow. Her ability to sense his feelings was quite powerful, at least in this moment. That or...perhaps he had not realized the extent of his own melancholic feelings to the point that he was completely unable to hide them from his peers. Or perhaps rarer still- Kegari held a connection to him that was more than met the eye? The possibilities were quite intriguing to Brahe.

"My master disappeared not long after the Sith began to come out of hiding. I can sense a connection....I think she is alive, but I don't know where she is. It....."

He looked visibly worried. Master Mila Tesara had been like a second mother to him when he was growing up. Losing her was like losing a member of the family- it was not something easy for Brahe to handle. He was hell-bent on finding his missing master, the will of the force be damned.

"I'm just hoping I can find her one day, is all. The galaxy is becoming more dangerous by the day." He held out his shoto lightsaber for Kegari as if to illustrate a point. "It doesn't hurt to be prepared."

Kegari sighed and frowned as he talked about his master, she really felt for him. She didn’t know what it was like to have parents or even a parent figure. She couldn’t relate, but she could never imagine losing someone close to her. “Nice to meet you Brahe. I’m sure you will find her”. Kegari said as she placed a hand on his shoulder. She could sense the worry within him, even if he tried his best to conceal his emotions.

“The Sith... yeah they are certainly unpredictable...” Kegari added as she too has her own experiences with the Sith and how they were able to get into her head and cause her tension in her head. It wasn’t a good feeling, especially when the feelings are not warranted. Unpredictable probably was being generous when talking about the Sith. Especially if they were the responsible party of capturing Master Mila Tesara.

Kegari nodded and agreed that the Galaxy was becoming more and more dangerous as the days went on and noticed that he offered her one of his own shoto lightsabers. She hesitated not sure if he was lending her it to practice with. She didn’t want to tell him no, she also didn’t want to use it and potentially destroy it, just as she destroyed a training remote previously.

Kegari sighed and took it from his hands and figured if she were to use one of her own eventually it was best that she practiced with one now. The weight of the saber was heavier than she thought. She’s never picked up a lightsaber in her life so initially this was going to be awkward. She was also very hesitant on igniting it. Lightsabers are dangerous weapons, and she didn’t want to be responsible for hurting herself or Brahe. Kegari took a long and deep breath before powering on the lightsaber. She closed her eyes and heard the lightsaber ignite and heard the hum that most lightsabers make. She then opened her eyes to see herself holding a lightsaber. At first she was scared, now she was eager, eager to actually wield of these things. Although its heaviness was tiring out her arms.

“Amazing”. Was all that could come out of Kegari’s mouth.

Brahe smiled. "Oh come on, it can't be THAT heavy!" He laughed lightheartedly, turning around to reactivate the training droid. Reaching down to pick up the training visor, he held it out to Kegari.

"Care to give it a try? I suppose you'll have to learn how to use one eventually, if you are to join the order."

Once he had handed the training visor over, he casually tossed his second saber into the air before catching it again and then throwing it towards a tree, then having it stop just short of slicing the tree before he sent it flying back into his grip, leaving the tree unharmed. The training droid hummed back to life as he did this, now moving towards Kegari since she was in possession of the training visor.

"All you've gotta do is deflect the bolts so they dont shock the heck outta you, until you get it right!"

Kegari stares at the training droid I can do this... she thought to herself as one of the bolts came out of the training remote. To the best of her abilities she tried to deflect the bolt only to be stung by it and losing a firm grip of the lightsaber. She sighed and nodded ready for the next set of bolts that came, she was not in control of the lightsaber causing her to lose grip and BAM!

The lightsaber flies out of her hands causing a tree to fall over. “Oh Kriff”! Thankful that she didn’t hurt herself or Brahe she walked over to the fallen tree and began searching for the lightsaber. Must’ve deactivated on its own.. Kegari thought to herself as she retrieved it and turned it back on.

Determined to prove herself worthy, she awaited the next set of bolts that came out of the training remote. However, they came so fast that Kegari didn’t have time to prepare, she was greeted with bolts so fast that she was swinging the lightsaber as she would a baseball bat. Not the best solution, as she almost dropped it again.

The bolts came coming out but Kegari couldn’t properly deflect them. This was definitely one of the times where she needed a Master. She was lost and definitely afraid, afraid of hurting herself, hurting Brahe, Breaking his lightsaber, and just being reckless in general.

“Maybe I’m not cut out for this after all”. Kegari sighed feeling defeated as ever. She knew that mastering lightsaber skills took time and also patience which is something she needed to work on. Her over eagerness would get in the way at times. This being no exception, she was just thankful that she didn’t hurt herself or Brahe. “I’m sorry”. Kegari sighed as she powered off the lightsaber and handed it back to Brahe.
