The Moot
The deserts of Mandalore hot, desolate and most importantly; remote. The landing area for the moot had been prepared carefully to allow the Others to fly in easily. Adenn had prepared for the meeting though he was unsure of how many would show. He sent out Messages to anyone he could think of and had hoped they would do the same. The message was simple;
"It's time for The Mandalorian People to stop living as we have been. It is time for us to unite as a people and to take up arms to defend our home against outside forces. I am calling a Moot to discuss unification and defense of that which is ours by right of being mandalorians."
The message then gave coordinates to the meeting area. He had hoped it would get his peoples attention. He had hoped they would unite even without a current Mand'alor.

Mandalore. Home of Srucayr and the Orar'da'yadr. Proof of what war could do to a world and though many had abandoned it over a century ago, his Coalition did not. Could not. Their blood had mixed with the sand, and before that, the oceans, the forests. They could remember what it was like before the storm. And Srucayr knew how it could be that way again.

Malinkar had fled Concord Dawn and the world now belonged to the true of the Mando'ade. Concordia would be next, while their spies hunted for Malinkar on Mandalore. Dozens of Clans had begun to rally to the Orar'da'yadr and the Coalition had begun to expand its efforts in their sector. Solus had been doing important work, focusing on fighting the slavers while they looked to their Core, and other Mandalorians had been tasked with garnering support for helping Mandalore diplomatically.

So when the call came for unification, Srucayr would arrive. He would arrive early, and he would aid how he could with the preparations. Ancient silver and blue beskar bearing the sigils of Kad gleamed in the desert light as he made his way to Adenn. He couldn't say that he had heard of the man before, but it was a big galaxy and their people were scattered to the stars.

"You must be Adenn." The war priest would muse as he approached. "Srucayr of the Orar'da'yadr. Some of my people may make an appearance." Once within reach, he would offer his hand, and if accepted, he would grip the man's forearm tightly. His visor would look beyond Adenn. "Beautiful, isn't it?"

I was happy to see word had reached some willing ears. The man was Quite large and encased in a beautiful set of Beskar'gam. True Beskar'gam, not alloy.
"You must be Adenn." The war priest would muse as he approached. "Srucayr of the Orar'da'yadr. Some of my people may make an appearance."
He offered me his hand to shake and I took it without hesitation
"You would be correct. Well met, Vod. The Boy working is my apprentice and Foundling, Etr."
I pointed over to where Etr was setting up Chairs with a couple of rented Protocol Droid.
"Beautiful, isn't it?"
He looked beyond me to the planet on which we stood. I felt him exude a feeling of Love and pride for it. I couldn't help but feel the same way
"I'd give my last breath for it."
I said, looking out on it with him.

Time provided answers and perspective. It had been a few years since Kotii Solus had first come to Mandalore and ascended to the Black Keep to first announce his place as Alor of House Solus. There were many Mandalorians at that time and Kotii wondered how many still survived. Thankfully not a lot of issues had arrisen in Mandalorian space since the Orar'da'yadr allowed a catastrophe to occur. Worse than that, they were responsible for it. Some how Srucayr had not been forced to reconcile for his actions. This would be a good time to bring such events to light for all leads to discuss if they so wished. But right now Kotii was curious to see who answered the call.

Joined by several members of Clan Solus, the Alor would walk towards the one who had called the meeting. Already the tall Mandalorian garbed in the blue and silver regalia of his ancestors had arrived. <"The snake slithers in early. And I'm not seeing any of Clan Rook here yet."> He said clearly from under his black helmet. The T visor and the Jaig eyes above them stared at the so-called leader of the Orar'da'yadr. <"You have a lot of balls showing your skin here. Or maybe the fact that you don't have any at all is why you've risked coming here."> The threatening tone was very real. Kotii was not afraid of throwing down right then and there the same way he had when confronting the man in Sundari.

The Orar'da'yadr were not as unified and great as they thought. Their leadership had been absent until recently and unless he explained himself by some miracle of the gods, he would be meant to face justice. <"I'd hesitate to affiliate yourself with this ge'hutuun, if I were you brother"> He said towards Adenn. Some Mandalorians were more isolated and not in the know. But he hoped that with all the information it would be obvious to condemn the actions of Srucayr and any aware of his methods.

Kotii had to set an example. Joining him on this moot was his teenage son. Hauron wore his helmet but underneath looked up at his father with a bit of a startled expression on his face. This was the first time he had seen his father speak in such a manner since Kotii and Reiel had rescued the foundling on Pzob. The subsequent announcement by the Alor of House Solus had mobilized the allied Mandalorian forces to attack Zyggeria and assassinate the King of the Zyggerian Slave Empire. Now the numerous freed slaves had swelled the numerous Clans and coverts that had taken part in the liberation. However, before the virtous badgers was a kin killer and a man Kotii felt no small amount of contempt for.

I knew Kotii. He was the main person I reached out to.. and now I feared he might end this moot in violence. But I wouldn't allow it. The pair seemed to get Heated up, for what I was unsure of. But I looked over and found Etr Standing and watching. I'd need to set an example.
"There's no killing in the moot, Vod. We Gather here for unity. I don't know him or really anything about him.. but I know he's a Mandalorian. Same as you. Same as me. I've seen plenty a mandalorian do things that don't sit right with me. But I'm asking you, for the sake of our people, let's try and overcome what differences we may have. And keep this moot from becoming a brawl."
I wwalked over to him, Offering him my hand to shake.
"Been a long time coming, this moot. It's where we are gonna decide the fate of our people. I'm glad you're here for it. Clan solus really ought to have a seat in this meeting."

Reshi had come to hear, to watch, to observe. You never knew when you might hear something that might sway your stance on something, so maybe she had come with the hope that someone might do that today. Hope, it brought nothing but disappointment, and pain. And yet it gave you strength, strength to dream. Yet, as she arrived at the gathering, it seemed like this was going to be like every other time someone had tried to play this game. Disappointing.

"You are mistaken, Adenn of Clan Rytt. He is no Mandalorian," though her face was hidden behind her helmet, the disdain she felt for the man who had ordered the murder of innocents more than evident in her voice, "there is no honor in him or his ilk."

Turning her glance away from the one who had once called himself one of the manda, she stared down the man who had sent out the summons to bring them here.

"You walk on thin ice Adenn of Clan Rytt, if you choose to deal with dar'manda scum."

The last time she had come here had not been the first. Mandalore was every Mandalorian’s home, haunted though it was, where the songs of deeds and screams of the dead echoed in the woman’s ears.

The Mandalorians wanted to stand together. Rytt made the attempt, Solus and Dagon before him. Srucayr tried to unite the clans. For a while, the woman stood with him, but time had passed and where she stood now was no longer certain. Except this sand. This is where I stand.

They called her Anvil, having forged her red gold iron in fire, but her name was Casany Praxor.

Keep it in check, Cas cautioned herself. It was hard to when you were surrounded by bucketheads in the desert of their destiny. She had not come alone, with two helmets parting from her Winged Pike. Though, if this turned out to be another drawn out debate over doing basically nothing then, well, Cas had two hands to wave with and a ship to say goodbye from.

“Rytt,” she called across the wind as it toyed with her hair, helmet in arm, visor gazing out as though one more Mando in the moot. “Solus. Salyr.” She knew all three names, had shaken the arms of all three men, but addressed everyone now.

“Are we going to piss on each other’s boots all day or discuss?”

Sure, there was probably probable cause for the name-calling, probably Srucayr had his reasons for what he did since everyone did, but Cas did not give a damn right now.

If the Soluses or anyone thought that now was a good time to hang someone then things were about to get messy. If not then it might be a good time for everyone to shut up and start talking. So to speak.

"Something about defenses?" she nodded toward Adenn. "If we're all willing to talk then let's talk resources. I'll go first. I got Zaia Krodas beside me, that Y-Wing behind me, blasters inside it and this sword on my back. That...that's all I got." She finished with a shrug.

Zaia followed closely behind Cas, her helmet at her side as the two left the Winged Pike. This was her first moot with Mandalorians from so many clans coming together… and it was not going the way she’d been expecting. Instead of unity, she saw disdain for one another. But she wasn’t willing to give up just yet.

It seemed as if Cas knew who all the other Mandos were, and as she addressed them Zaia observed each one. She’d met Srucayr before, but the other two she didn’t know. When she spotted Adenn, she gave him a nod in greeting. She also caught sight of Etr standing and watching somewhere nearby, and she smiled at him. It was unfortunate that he had to watch his own people squabble amongst themselves though, she thought as she turned back to face the rest of the group.

“As for me, I’ve got… uh, just what I have on me,” said Zaia, shrugging in turn. “It’s not much but I’m willing to do what it takes to help us out.”

dar'manda
there had been times I heard that throughout my childhood.. it was usually followed by a hanging or worse... the Gauntlet.
"Dar'manda... isn't a term taken lightly, woman. Nor a question of my honor."
I did growl at the last part..
"This isn't a Tribunal. if he's of dishonorable repute then that is a matter for Alors to discuss as a council. Not in a lynch mob with every verd trying to tie a knot on the noose. As men of honor we should respect the Moot. And as soldiers you should wait for orders and respect those of Higher Rank."
It hurt me to even think of being at odds with the Solus clan...
"The only reason I called this moot together is to honor the dreams of a man Of Clan solus. A man, my brother, who dreamed of a civilized and United people. A man Named Dolworth Solus. Who is now unto the Manda."
The sound like a Hawk called out from beyond
“Rytt..."
I turned and saw Casany, her red and gold Armor Shining in the Sun and with Zaia no less.
"Praxor! Krodas! Welcome to the Moot. I hope you'll be representing your your clans."

After the Crucible landed and Kell set out to great his fellow Mandalorians who gathered at such a place of honor and valor. The Moot was as glorious as it always was and Akalenedat was proud of his culture and heritage. The first person Kell recognized was Srucayr! His excitement only spiked as he saluted the War Priest with vigor before same to the Alor of House Solus. Contrary to whatever Reshelle Solus was trying to start, Kell wanted this great gathering to be one of peace and solace.

"It is my pleasure and honor to see both of you again." He said in a dignified tone. "I believe I'm representing two Clans today if there are no other Rooks or Vizslas presents. The name is Akalenedat, but because I'm off duty you may all call me Kell Rook-Vizsla." The Ranger spoke, addressing the entire group this time as he gave a quick inclination of his head in a respectful gesture.

"This place is so beautiful! By my glory and might, by the weapons I forged by my hands, and by my split name, I swear I will never allow for the Moot to fall!" He vowed with great vigor. "And with that aside, I believe there was word of discussing unity of the Clans! I'm in, HAHA! I am no Alor of either of my blood Clans, but I have been considering dropping my duties as a Sector Ranger to unite at least Clan Vizsla." There was also his plan to train the foundlings pertaining to all of the Clans as well, but that was a subject matter for later. For now, it was simply time to sit and listen and speak when spoken to.

Another moot. The Alor of Clan Crowholde had summoned her home to attend yet another moot that that claimed yet another attempt at Mandalorian unification, and while the Reiel of the past might have answered with wide-eyed hope like she once did with Ars Dagon's call, the Reiel of the present was silent and observant just like she had done with Kotii Solus'.

She still hoped that the Mandalorians would one day unite under a single banner, but the years and certain events now had her thinking that maybe it was something she wouldn't see anytime soon. Or even later.

She wondered if she would even see it at all.

Still, the small Mandalorian answered the call. Much like what she had done at the Black Keep, Reiel remained in the sidelines, watching and listening as her vode spoke and dished out threats to one particular Akaan Salyr. She would've jumped to Srucayr's defense like she would normally do but word from her clan had her gazing with a mix of curiosity and suspicion at the man she called ori'vod. The death of civilians on Mandalore was something her clan had investigated as well, and the Alor had not been pleased with the result.

Reiel didn't bother taking a seat, opting to stay where she stood by the doorway instead. A light frown was hidden beneath the cover of her buy'ce as she scanned one helmet after another, her gaze lingering on the young Mandalorian Kotii had brought with him. There was something familiar about the Mando in question. Ignoring the conversation before her, Reiel approached the pair and gave the younger Mandalorian's arm a light pat.

"You're with Kotii?" she asked quietly, though the answer was obvious. "By the looks of it, your Alor's ready to throw hands. You can step aside for a bit with me if that happens. But only if you want to."

She currently didn't have the patience and energy to actively participate in the discussion. And besides, she didn't want to say anything she might regret later on, so her best bet was to keep her mouth shut and simply watch. If the moot turned out fruitful, then great. If not, well...

Clan Crowholde was accustomed to being disappointed, after all.

Srucayr would only nod in agreement with Rytt. "As would I. This is our world, and none but us have a claim to it. I've bled for it for decades, and I will continue bleeding for it."

When the Solus members arrived his visored gaze would drift to them and when they spoke, it was the words of children. "Only one person has the right to declare Dar'manda, child, and that is a position you will never hold. A Mandalorian follows the Six Tenants, and I live and breathe them. I came here for peace today, if desire for war is in heart Solus, we'll have that time. But for now, if you can't respect the wishes of the one who called the moot, then you're unworthy of what you claim to be." As he spoke, his hands never once strayed towards his weapons, they just remained on either his harness or his belt.

Beyond them, more Mandalorians began to pour in, people he recognized and friends. He'd offer each of them a nod in kind, before his gaze re-focused on Kotii and the other Solus. They were young, brash, and eager for death, and decades of experience often reflect who won such disputes and normally it wasn't the young.

Reshi chuckled at the man's response, and the condescending tone of his voice. "Child, huh? Very well then, why don't you teach this child a few lessons?" She stepped up to face him, spitting venom, ready to cut him down there and then if required. "You speak of the six tenets," she demanded, "so tell me which one of them were you following when you disguised your men as pirates and sent them to kill innocents? They were children, actual children, and you killed them like a coward? And for what? What were you protecting by attacking lost fools who meant us no harm, were no thread?"

Looking around at the others gathered there, she let her eyes rest on Adenn. "Honor? It is our actions that define our honor, and if hiding those who deserve retribution for their actions is your choice then I see your honor as well."

OOC: @Rhogar not sure where the whole "only mandalore can call someone dar'manda" thing is coming from, it is not how we have played mandalorians on the site, so its not site canon. If someone does the deed, they pay the price, without a mandalore stepping in to make the call. Would be rather stupid if only clan leaders or mandalores can plant such accusations, specially because during vast chunks of mando history they have existed without a mandalore.

Arthos had parked his ship further back from the meeting point – one thing his clan had drilled into his dense head since taking him as a foundling was that tradition was to be sacred. He was attending a moot on behalf of his clan and adopted family so he was to do so properly. His ship had weapons on it and parking it too close could be taken as a threat by some.

There had been talk about such cowards being unworthy of the title of Mandalorian amongst the clan but tradition dictated he not offer violence unless it was brought to him first.

Joining the assembled Mandalorians, he spoke up.

“Brother Kell Rook-Vizsla, the clan sends me to answer the call.” He bowed his helmet to the Ranger briefly, “I shall be representing Clan Vizsla with pride – I apologise for my delayed arrival.”

He in turn bowed to Kotii before acknowledging Adenn in the same manner… before lifting his helmet just high enough to show his mouth and spitting on the ground in front of Srucayr.

“Clan Vizsla sends their regards and my Alor formally requests you ah…” he paused in his official tones as he tried to remember the exact wording, “Die screaming amidst a sea of your own failings you dar’manda.”

Clan Vizsla never did mince words and he nodded to Adenn again.

“That said, Clan Vizsla stands ready for Mandalore.”

I looked over at the man in Shoc0k.
"You're that Guy?"
I looked back at the Clan in front of me.
"He's that guy?"
Nods from the people around him confirmed it.
I Rubbed my brow, Etr moved away from the man and the protocol Droids did the same
Why on Kad white world did I have to be the one defending a fucking kid killer. Clan Solus would have no reason to lie and Clan viszla seemed to hate him too. I regained my composer;
"There's no killing at the moot. As warriors we must Abide that. But one is to speak truthfully at the moot."
I was absolutely mortified at having been an advocate for that kind of man... I turned to him for the sake of Tradition and law
"What do you have to say for yourself?"

Srucayr only grew more amused as the girl stepped forward, her ignorance of their own history, even her own Clans, making him almost laugh. Then came the Vizsla. The irony of the Vizsla's words betrayed their own lack of knowledge in history. But their lack, was not Srucayr's. His body bore their history. All so none of their people would forget.

"Which of my actions broke the Resol'nare, little badger? Did I stop wearing armor? Did I not defend our Clans? Our home? Have I stopped speaking the language, ignored the call of my Mandalore, or even not raised my children as Mandalorians? I have broken none of those. None. That is the cause for being Dar'manda. We have enough Outsiders on -our- world as it is. The disguise was to keep the Republic from sending more people, for they will always send more people. Everyone fears when the our people begin to congregate, to grow strong. So no, I have bled my whole life to cleanse this Sector of Outsiders, and I will not stomach any more of them coming here, especially those taking armor of whatever Mandalorians they found and beat here. Or are you okay with outsiders having our armor?"

Both hands would settle on his belt, his visor boring into Reshelle's. "Was it not your Clan who laid waste to much of the galaxy? Do you think they spared the children or that their orbital bombardments did?"

His gaze shifted to Vizsla. "And as if your Clan has a right to talk. Your Clan birthed Death Watch, and what did they do in the name of Clan Vizsla? They killed the innocents of -our- own people, -our- own children."

His gaze would shift back to Reshelle. "Outsiders are born with no souls, they gain them when they join us. Your Clans may have forgotten that, but mine never did. When either of your Clans begin to defend the Sector again, then you will have a right to speak on how things are settled and dealt with, here. And on that day, I will be more than happy to talk.. or to fight. Until then, respect the wishes of Rytt or depart in peace." His gaze would then shift to Rytt. "As the host, if you wish my presence to not be here, I will depart in peace, brother. Nor will I bear you or your Clan any ill will. Everything I do is for my Clan, for my home, our gods and our traditions."

@Wit @Nefieslab @Timmen

In which canon or even Legends era have the Mandalorians been portrayed without having a Mandalore? Beyond TCW/Rebels because Satine was not Mandalore, and The Mandalorian? Neither of those two or three have any examples of Dar'manda? Why? Satines Mandalorians aren't even warriors and forsake the Resol'nare. Mandalorian Wars, Ultimate. Before that Indomitable. After that, the Nameless Mand'alor then Ordo. I haven't read any of it, but High Republic has a Mandalore. Legacy era, pre tcw, Mandalore. So they have set the precedent. Shae Vizsla and Artus Lok named Clans Dar'manda when they either began to target Mandalorians or refuse to follow them. And clearly, if you think targeting outsiders (who are the main enemy of Mandalorians) makes you Dar'manda, instead of breaking a single tenant (which hasn't happened), then you don't understand the weight or the meaning of the term. And if you look at the Resol'nare on Wookiepedia, it even states that religious traditionalists view all outsiders as soulless.

Kell returned the bow Arthos gave him out of respect. It had been a while since the Ranger had met another Vizsla and looked at his brother in arms with great pride and revelry. The fire burning inside Kell was immense and powerful- and nothing would stop that light from shining.

"Then I shall represent Clan Rook, Brother." His regal tone boring out to the shorter Vizsla.

Then came further insults from all around- directed towards Srucayr. That man was the one who Kell out of his shell- the Mandalorian who had once given him words of guidance that changed Kell's future forever. To see him being relentless insulted and threatened rattled him up and tore at his soul.

But, to then see Srucayr fight back with weighted words of wisdom reassured the large Mando who gazed at his mentor with fiery passion. Now, it was time for Kell Rook-Vizsla to speak, and though he hadn't been spoken to, he didn't want Srucayr to have no back up.

"Do you all know the meaning of 'Peace'? We stand together at a moot- a great meeting of the Clans! This legendary gathering will not fall under my watch- not to bitter words and darker insults. You are my people and it hurts to see my family tearing at each other like starved and deranged Anoobas." His big voice bellowed after Kell decided to take a stand next to Srucayr.

"Infighting has always been the downfall of our people and Srucayr is right in his words. As such, if he leaves because of your childish begrudging nature, then so shall I and Clan Rook. My father and mother died to see their Clans survive. To witness what is going on before me makes me sick and rapture the souls of those who wish our people a brighter future.
We all have our pasts. Most of us may have done at least a thing or two that we regret. Death Watch was in my family before my father's life was taken. I do not wear their signet out of loyalism to the extremist terrorist cell, but out of honor for what my parents sacrificed. Even the Sector Rangers cannot argue against the symbols I don for that purpose. In fact, I hope to give them new meaning one day.
The Moot is the day we set aside these differences and grow up. The day we can look at someone's signet on their earned Beskar'gam and not see an enemy, but a brother or sister fighting for their people. I know I fight for justice. For peace to be with all who want it. But these troubling times have brought upon great enemies to peace and her followers which is why I fight. Look at the Sith who's military might only seems to be increasing! Look at the Syndicates who murder who they please and brag about it to the trillions of the galaxy! Does this not anger you to your cores?! They are no small and simple threat and when there shrouded gaze turns to Mandalore and her people, we need to be ready! We need to be able to get over ourselves and endure to the end to protect what is rightfully ours!" The passion and vigor in Kells words only added to the regal bearing the Ranger already held as he stood mightily next to the Great Srucayr.

"We are fucking Mandalorians! It's time we start acting like one. I wish to move on and get to business now instead of fighting amongst ourselves. It's petty."

I agreed with Rook completely. This moot needed civility.. I was just shocked at the accusations...
"I am the host of this moot. I don't like Child killers. Aruetii or not. But if he hasn't broken the Resol'nare then He is no dar'manda. If he is not Dar'manda then his place is here at the moot. Sanctions levied out against him are strictly to remain outside the moot. And I will ask for honorable tolerance from all parties within this council. If Clan Solus cannot Swallow those terms or Orar'da'yadr cannot then let them be the ones to break this moot, not me."
I took a seat by the now growing bon Fire, the Air becoming cold from the coming night. The Smell of meat, Bread and vegetables roasting nearby in Fire pits and a spread of Food at a series of Tables where large barrels of Net'ra gal sat waiting.
"Now let us please take our seats and begin this council."

Kotii only spoke when necessary. It was something he tried to maintain as a characteristic throughout his life. The host of this meeting continued to speak in defensive response after each Mandalorian's input did not help to keep things calm. The Echani offshoot's crimson irises stared behind the tinted visor at Srucayr, waiting for him to answer. His words trying to quip back and evade shining a light on his questioning integrity. Instead just trying to shift the blame onto others dead and gone like he deserved to be held on a pedestal like that of a Mandalorian hero already. More joined in and the badger was wise enough to take in the difference in coverts and sects the various Mandalorians came from. Some likely followed the ways of Death Watch still and others were more lose or conservative. Beside Kotii, the young mikkian, Hauron shifted his stance after being approached by Reiel. His helmet turned to look up at her. He recognized her but judging by the tone of everyone else and the noise he remained quiet and gave a simple nod.

<"As warden of Mandalore and Alor of House Solus I have stated Mandalore is under the protection of House Solus and the Orar da'yadr is relived of its duties and facilities. That much is clear. I will continue to participate in this moot and those that attend can have the assistance of House Solus but only on the condition that Srucayr resign as leader of the Orar'Da'yadr. Srucayr will not take part in planning in the defense of Mandalore heneceforth and leave..."> He paused and then added to make sure it was clear, and saying the last word in basic. "...immediately."

Some of the people here and others under Srucayr's command didn't need to be punished for being a bad judge of character. The Orar'Da'yadr did not have to bear the stain of its leader's mistakes and instead could replace him if it wanted to try and live on. <"My problem is with you Srucayr and any who knowingly commit those heinous acts. I don't care if you broke the six tenets or not. I am ashamed to call you brother and if I were Mand'alor I would exile you from paradise for the rest of your days as the skinless fool you are. For as long as I lead this clan I won't ally myself with the likes of you, coward."> An execution what what Adenn feared but Kotii did not want to kill Srucayr. Death was swift and for some people too dangerous to be left alive. Kotii didn't consider Srucayr a threat, he was just a tragic disappointment. If people hadn't lost faith in the man already it would only further erode and tarnish the reputation of the organization he built. Perhaps he would be wise enough to realize there was no escaping the mistakes he had made.
