Star Wars Legacies: The Fifth Timeline

jediarchaeologisttpov.jpg

As you know, the theme and title of this new timeline will be Star Wars Legacies, the first time that we’ve had a timeline title like that or an overall theme to the timeline.

As a brief reminder, the theme will see elements of the mythology of all four previous timelines brought back, connected together amongst themselves and with canon, and, in some cases, ultimately put to rest, all of which we can then use to forge a new lore—a new legacy—in this uncharted future for canon and the website.

To help accomplish this, we will be introducing staff-run quests into the role-play in order to carry out the Legacies theme. These quests would be related to the previous timelines, going with the idea that we would be pulling in elements of old lore from all four previous timelines and connecting them into this one.

An Example of a Quest
So for example, we could have a Sith quest such as “Study the tomb of Darth Myst on Korriban and discover what happened to him after he disappeared during the Great Territorial War.” Darth Myst was Jetzt’s character during the first timeline.

Like Palpatine thousands of years later, Myst was a Dark Lord of the Sith whose identity was unknown, allowing him to operate as Supreme Chancellor Jetzt, manipulating the galaxy to his design. He disappeared during the war, allowing Adena Qel-Droma, by then known as Darth Viea, to ascend to the throne of the Sith.

Purpose of the Quests
All of these quests will have a specific, final, and combined goal in mind and will form a coherent story throughout the timeline. Because they’re staff run, though, they are not considered the main storyline, which is the war, and won’t have a tremendous impact (if at all) on the main Story at all.

Think of these like side-quests such as in Knights of the Old Republic or other video games. In that game, there were quests that earned you rewards, but they were mostly side-plots that didn’t impact the quest for the Star Forge. That way, although we’re running the quests, we’re not controlling the timeline.

Did You Say Rewards?
I did indeed! These quests will be friendly competitions, where there’s a winner at the end of each quest. The winner gets a prize, such as a holocron, which, at the time of our choosing, will be critical for the execution of the next quest. This makes the winner of a quest an invaluable part of the next one, without guaranteeing that said person will win again.

Do the Admins Have Quests Yet?
Now that we have announced this and the timeline is fast approaching, we will put together a list of as many past lore elements from previous timelines as we can think of, bringing as many aspects of the previous timelines into focus as we can. Then we can work those down to a more manageable list and form an overall quest storyline for them. You’re free to submit ideas based on what you know of the last four timelines.

How Will These Work?
Quests will be faction-specific. The Jedi will have quests, the Sith/Imperials will have quests, etc. Despite being faction-specific in a lot of cases, though, many will also overlap with one another. The Jedi and the Sith, for example, will sometimes have to compete against one another. That helps it form an overall storyline for the quests.

We will also have at least one administrator in each faction (including Imperial Knights) in order to lead the quests for each faction. They’ll also be there just to generally help out, something we did in the first timeline to good effect. The staff as a whole will collectively come up with these quests, but each admin would be in a faction in order to lead the quests. We’ll be joining the following factions for this:

• New Jedi Order - Brandon/Bac
• The Empire - SIN
• Galactic Alliance - Jiang
• Mandalorians - Matt
• Chiss Ascendancy - Lavi
• Imperial Knights - Nexus

The roles will also be relevant to the fact that we’d be leading these quests, though that doesn't necessarily mean we actually have a high ranking or critical role in the faction. For example, I’ll have a Jedi sage and historian character, which fits with the type of quests a Jedi would go on.

These quests are not mandatory. Like any mission, each individual RPer chooses whether or not they want to participate. We cannot make you participate in something, nor would we want to force you to do so.

Note that these do not replace faction missions. Faction leaders and faction members should continue to create missions for their factions, as quests won’t be going on all the time.

Why Are the Admins Running It?
This is something that we want to do for you to help make this timeline extra fun. We introduced the Star Wars Legacies theme to make this timeline extra special for everyone from all eras of the website’s six and a half year history, and this is another addition to that.

Additionally, we want to keep the overall storyline and future quests a secret. Not that we think everyone we would potentially bring in would talk about it, but everyone has one person they trust, so it’s best to avoid that temptation so we don’t spoil the fun.

That said, all members, including faction leaders, are welcome to and encouraged to participate in the quests. We think this will be a lot of fun, and we hope you do too!

When Will the Quests Start?
We’ll let the timeline get settled in first, but we’ll start the first quests very soon after the start of the new timeline.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to post them here or send one of us a PM.

Sounds excellent, but how many people would rp on one quest, or does it depend on the quest itself?

I really like this idea. One thing I was hoping to adress actually now that's all said and done and we're discussing legacies, is either with you Bac or Santoro about a little character I had by the name of Malgarr, PM's might be more suited for it.

yay~

plot missions :CHappy

I thought of it the same way; if the admins can pull it off almost like a KotOR planet mission in writing that would be sweeeeeet.

I'm rather excited for this one. Also under "Why are admins running it" I think you should edit in that no faction leader in their right mind would ask for more shit to do than they've already got going on.
