When you register to vote, you don't become locked in a party for either Republican or Democrat, that takes away the principle of voting, and also theres too many different parties to choose from, as in Independents as well. When you register to vote, you're registering to VOTE, not to become a member of a party..

In a way you're right but in a way you're wrong, but you're really only right because I phrased my last post badly. On voter registration forms, there is a box for party affiliation with the choices being:

- Republican
- Democrat
- Unaffiliated
- Other, Please Specify

This must be checked in order to vote in primary elections, though when most people register to vote they check off Republican, Democrat, etc.

How do you know most people choose one or the other? And how do you know they know the meaning of either one? Like I said, there are dumb people in this world Bac, and they're the majority.

Also, I wasn't wrong, because I only reacted to what was said in your post, and nothing of what I said was wrong.

You can vote for anyone you want to. But the fact remains that people still CHOOSE who is in office.

And yes, you're right, Kurt there ARE stupid people and not a lot know what party they're for. Hell, even I don't know what party I could be considered! All I know is that if a Candidate shares MY views, then that's who I'm gonna vote for. And that's what MOST Americans do...Some Just vote based on Party, some vote just to vote and get it over with. Some don't even VOTE. But the Fact remains that America chooses her Government.

I know very little about American politics. Do you work on PR or FPTP?

Aaron, it's not the same as choosing if you're given a couple main choices and then told that you could just randomly vote for some other person. That other person doesn't have the publicity, nor the money to get out there and have an official ballet, which is exactly my point. It's just like any other poll, you can be given a few options, and then theres an "other" option, most people ignore the "other" option, because they know most people won't vote the same, so there's no use. ESPECIALLY when no one else knows what you voted for.

Go right ahead and vote for Picard, but ultimately the "choice" will be made between those main options, meaning you're given a selective choice, and you're not really choosing at all. It could all be rigged and you'd never know.

It's the same thing with most governments, the only difference is most people realize this fact.

Thats why I live in Canada and we have basically the same deal as what Britain does, it's just slightly different. Our government is based off their basic principle, we have a Prime Minister and his party, and the Opposing party who challenge everything the PM does, and everything gets run by the House of Commons, and then the guys above them, etc etc. Harper is a moron though, he said that PMs shouldn't be appointing people, and then does it his first day. Liberals, Conservatives, whatever, they're all liars.

It's not a limited Choice desicion. The Fact remains that you can choose to vote for "Jose Jalepeno on a STEEK" if you want to.

It's not a choice decision IMO because That guys isn't listed as a candiate, so no one but you will vote for him. Has it ever happened, someone who was voted for in the "other" section, EVER become president? No.

So? Just because someone doesn't win doesn't mean that they weren't a choice. I respect your opinion, but the fact STILL remains that any American citizen registered to vote can vote for ANYONE of their choosing. And that's EXACTLY what a choice is!

Yes Aaron, you have a choice for who to vote for, be it the man on the moon, but you don't have a choice about who becomes President. Which is my main point.

Scre Partisan Politics, as well as Democracy. Our society is disgusting, all these talk about all of us being equal is a lie. We're not equal, we're just a bunch of mindless sheeps admiring shitty actors and signers who are slowly depleting our resources. We blindly follow the media, doing everything they tell us, STRIVING to reach the mainstream and be pretty and cool because it's really the only thing that will make you above everyone else.

We should go back with some ruthless oppresive regime. An government who would cast down these fake heroes to the bowels of hierarchy and bring everyone down equally in a great burning. Dress everyone in an uniform, give them a random number as their name, so that their very identity would be destroyed. Any form of violence would be swiftly dealt with , with harsh punishment, death maybe? Who knows? The harder the better, just to set an example. This could last a few decades maybe, or even more and then we would unite agaisnt this regime and perhaps if we are strong enough, and derserve the right to flourish and blossom thereafter, we would overthrow and start anew. I believe that only then we would truly be able to live in harmony with one another. The human race is stubborn. Only if it is brought down to the brick of annihilation will it learn to respect life and their kin.

For some unfathomable reason I agree with all of that.
