Mission to Cyrillia

[Ral]

"Oh, I think you're underselling my skills as a pilot, I think I'm quite good at it. Besides, if there is something that I'll need to respond to quickly having you there might make me even more focused," He turns his head and winks at Isabella as he sits down in the pilot's chair. "In any case, I'm sure I could use the challenge of having to work around you, so make no fuss, you will be most welcome." Kai replied honestly as he got settled as best as he could with a hundred pound teenager on his lap. With a tone of poking fun at his friend he said, "I hope you can learn something while you're sitting there."

Kai started up the ship's engines, and working around Isabella slowly pulled up on the controls when he had an idea. "Here, you try," he placed her hands on the controls with his and let her guide the ship, but making sure he would be able to take over in case she messed up or started flying them towards the ground. "I gotcha, don't worry." The teacher in him knew that flying whilst sitting perpendicular across his lap wouldn't be the easiest thing in the world, but it would give her a little taste. "How are you feeling?" He inquired, wanting to make some small talk as he taught her to break atmosphere.

"Yeah, I guess I could be a little bit of help." She said with a small smile, nodding. As he said that he'd be perfectly fine with working around her, and she shrugged slightly shaking her head a little bit. Isabella giggled when he said that he hoped she would learn something while she was sitting there. "Im sure will." She said with a small smile.

She watched as he put in coordinates and special codes in, carefully. When he said he hoped she would learn something, she shook her head with a small giggle. "Believe me, I will." She said looking at the control panel. When he asked her to try, her eyes widened a little bit of surprise and a tiny bit of fear. "A-are you sure??" She asked nervously. He placed her hands on the controls and she looked at him real quick and then back to the controls and the window. She lifted the ship up into the air and she heard Kai's voice reassuring her that she'd be ok. He then asked how she was doing and she nodded slightly as she responded. "I'm feeling ok." She was still slightly nervous flying his ship.

 

[Ral]

"Yes, I'm sure," Kai confirmed to her as he firmly placed her hands on the controls of the ship. Hearing her tell him she was doing okay caused him to smile a little as he helped her break atmo. "Good, I'm glad you're doing okay. We'll do this more often from now, and once your leg feels better you can actually co-pilot for me. How does that sound? You could command and pilot your own ships one day!" He grinned at her, he could tell she was still a little apprehensive about the whole flying thing. Once they were out into space he congratulated her, "Good job, now we get to plot a course back home... but actually, I have an idea if you're interested..." Kai looked into Isabella's pretty blue eyes, "Would you like to see my home on Naboo?"

Kai would wait for Isabella to give him an idea of what she wanted to do, they could either head back to the Jedi fleet or an outpost, or the young man could take her back to his home and show her around, maybe she would like what she saw there even. She meant a lot to him, and he wanted to share with this young girl everything he had, he didn't want her to just be family, he wanted her to feel like family to him, to feel more than just father and daughter or master and student, he wanted them to be more than just family. "What do you think?"

Isabella smiled as they got higher and higher into the air. She was surprised that she was actually flying the ship and it wasn't plummeting towards the ground, but she figured it was mainly because Kai was there to help her. She nodded when he said that they'd be doing this more often. She was quite excited to ear that she could actually be his co-pilot and fly her own ships. Pure excitement was spread on her face as she looked to Kai quickly and responded. "That sounds awesome!!!" She said as they soon broke atmosphere. She looked out into the sky seeing the shining dots of stars speckled in the sky. He then said that it was time to head home, but then he gave her the choice of going back to the Temple or going to see his home on Naboo. She smiled again and nodded. "I would love to see your home on Naboo." Isabella said happily.

 

[Ral]

"Excellent, I'll get the course plugged in then!" Kai smiled happily at Isabella before facing the controls and pulling up the coordinates of Naboo. Once he got them set into the nav computer, he looked to Isabella with a sly look on his face and said, "Here, you can send us into hyperspace!" He exclaimed as he took one of her hands from the ship controls and placed it on the hyperdrive control. Pushing her hand up, the ship immediately accelerated, the stars turned to lines, and before they knew it they were back in hyperspace. "Good job! I hope you enjoyed your first time flying, we'll get some more practice in sometime in the future. For now, let's head back to the lounge, sound good?" Kai asked with his typical jovial smile as he grabbed hold of Isabella again and stood up, heading back to the rear.

On the way back he looked to her and asked, "Still feeling alright? Leg and scratches aren't bothering you too much?"

"Yay!" She exclaimed as she watched him putting coordinates in for Naboo. Once he finished, he saw his look when he looked at her before letting her put them into hyperspace. She smiled widely and it barely took him to put his hand on hers when she reached for the lever to the hyperdrive control. He helped her push it up and as soon as she pushed on it, she looked up to the stars with a big smile seeing the stars smear in the sky. "Ooh that never gets old!!!" She said with a big smile on her face, seeing the ship jumping into hyperspace.

"You hope I enjoyed it? I more then enjoyed it, I loved it!!!" She exclaimed. Isabella calmed down a little bit and agreed to going into the lounge area. "Yeah, that sounds good." She said as Kai picked her up again and carried her over. She looked at him when he asked if she was still feeling ok. "Yeah, I'm feeling fine. I have felt worse." she said. It was true. She truly had felt worse.

 

[Ral]

Kai couldn't help but grin and look a little giddy as Isabella seemed to exclaim her excitement at being able to fly a ship, and the young man found himself laughing lightly at his young friend. It was easy for him to forget how simple things like flying and jumping to hyperspace could be viewed as exciting and extraordinary. But with Isabella, Kai was constantly reminded of how even simple things might be viewed as incredible. Her youth and her own naïve wonderment filled him giddy youthful energy and reminded him of when he was Isabella's age and everything seemed to new and marvelous. Bringing a hand up to rub the back of her head, massaging her scalp a little as he said, "I'm glad you loved it so much. I can't wait to see how good you become at flying."

"I'm glad you're feeling alright then. Hopefully we'll be able to take the bacta cast off soon. But you should probably take it a little easy for a day or two, wouldn't want to risk it, ya know?" Inside the lounge, he placed her down on the couch and extended her leg so it could rest on the little table he had put out as a sort of coffee table. Sitting down next to her, he placed an arm over her shoulder and pulled her close. "So how would you describe being here in the Jedi with me as opposed to your old life?"

As she saw the look on his face she smiled and felt his hand rubbing her head a little bit. "I cant wait either." She said smiling with a small giggle. Flying the ship had obviously been new to her as he had only flown a stolen TIE, but it was soon blown up after she took it. She loved the way the stars looked from the actual space instead of seeing them thousands of miles away from a planet. It was just different experiencing it from a different pint of view.

"Yeah, me too. I can't wait, but I know I have to. I'm not used to being carried around. But yes, I honestly dont want to risk it... especially if you catch me risking it." She said with her eyes widening a little and a tiny giggle. He sat her down on the couch and placed her leg on a coffee table looking table, before he sat down next to her, putting his arm around her and pulling her close to him as she then laid her head on his chest. She then paused for a second when she heard his question. "Well being with you and the Jedi is like gold and royalty. My old life was filled with air and nothing. My old life, I risked it trying to save a family from a fire once. I had major burns that have now healed. There was a mother, father and two kids. One was a year old and the other was five. I had gotten the family out in time until the mother remembered the baby. I ran back in as a crossbeam fell, snapping my leg and it got burned. That's how it broke. I didn't worry about myself and got up, finding the baby with the force and got her out safely. The family thanked me but never notice I was hurt." She explained. She kept a positive attitude as she explained not wanting to shed tears. But she had revealed how she broke the same leg the first time.

 

[Ral]

Laughing, the Jedi Master shook his head, his black hair swaying slightly as he moved. "Yeah, you wouldn't want to me to find you risking it. I'd stick you in your quarters for a month and make you meditate until your leg was fully healed. No training, no flying, and certainly no lightsabers," he remarked, but gave her a little wink to help ease her that he was exaggerating a little. Still, the expression on his face was one that told her that she better not risk him finding her doing something she shouldn't, like putting to much strain on her leg.

As Isabella spoke of her old life, Kai listened to what the young girl had to say. She gave an example of how she had helped a family whose house had started to burn down, and that's how she broke her leg the first time. It caused him to sigh a little, not disappointed at her, but it did hurt him a little to hear that she had been hurt, and no one had even given her a notice, no offer to help her. Even after she had saved the baby, the family didn't even do anything for her. Inhaling, Kai rubbed her head a little, "That just sounds terrible. I mean, what you did was the right thing, and you should be proud of it. It was a very Jedi thing to do, and if you had to do it again I'd want you to do it again even if you broke your leg. That was an incredibly selfless thing to do. I just hate that some people wouldn't help you even after you do something like what you did for them... I guess that's the way life goes for orphans, huh?" He smiled a little at Isabela for a moment before going on again, "I'm glad you like it as a Jedi though. I'm glad you asked me to be your teacher..." He paused as gave her a squeeze and rested his head on hers for a few moments. "You want something? Food or drink?"

Isabella's eyes widened more when he said that he would lock her in her quarters to meditate and heal her leg if he ever found her risking it. For a month! With no training at all. She giggled. "Yes I definitely will not risk it." She said. Bella never wanted to be locked into a room with nothing to do but meditate and sleep. She saw his wink but still serious look on his face.

She saw as he listened to what she said about her old life. When she finished, he started speaking, rubbing her head. "Yes, it was a family that had no liking for me, yet since it was the right thing to do, I saved them. Their thank you was grateful, but the looks they gave afterwards were too self involved. The mother always had something about me to complain about, it was either I was too dirty, etc, etc. It never ended until I saved them. After that, I never saw them again. But yes, that is how life is for orphans. Nobody tends to care, and looks past you as if you are invisible." she said. She saw his smile and gave a small one back. "I'm just glad I was able to meet you. You've been the only one who has ever been there and I'm glad." Isabella said with another smile.

They were both quiet for a few seconds before Kai broke the silence asking her if she wanted anything. "Nah, I'm ok for now, thanks." She said with a small smile.

 

[Ral]

Isabella made Kai frown when she described the way the family seemed to treat her, and how they had just disappeared after she had helped them. It was disappointing to hear how people could be. It wasn't a surprising realization, but it always struck a chord when it was with someone he knew. With a slightly exasperated exhale, Kai nods at Isabella acknowledging what she had stated. Offering a small smile when she said she was glad to have met him and that he was the only one who has been there for her. "Well, I'm glad to have met you, too. I'm glad I've been able to have such a positive impact on your life. It means a lot to me... just like you!" He gave her another soft smile and a wink as he gave her a squeeze to show that he meant it.

When she told him she didn't want anything he gave her another nod, "Alright, well if you want something just let me know. I don't want you getting up for stuff with your leg hurt. Plus it's my ship, so I'm the host, and I know where everything else is. So it would make sense for me to get anything you need." He laughed lightly as he looked around the small cabin, "So, what's up? I mean we've talked about the mission and your leg, but what about you? How are you doing? Besides me have you made any friends in the Order? Or done anything interesting?"

Isabella could tell Kai was upset and she had a feeling she knew why. It was just the way things were though. She couldn't control anything that had happened before she was able to hold a lightsaber, it all just happened. She smiled though at hearing what he said and hugged him back when he squeezed her. "Same here." she had replied.

She giggled at the way he said it was his ship and the like. "Well! I won't hesitate then if I need anything." she said with another small laugh. When he asked about her, she thought hard, "Hmm, well, I really haven't made any friends yet. I've pretty much kept to myself, plus if I'm not busy trying to create little things for the area in my dorm, or trying to find water to jump into, I'm spending time with you. So not too much has happened, but I have talked to a few here and there. I mean they have acknowledged that I'm there, but I haven't really bothered to do anything yet." she responded. Isabella was a rather shy person and she only pretty much talked with people she trusted. Which took a little while to trust someone. Even if they were allies.

 

[Ral]

"You haven't really made any friends yet, huh? Well you should, I'm sure there's more than a few Jedi who would like to make your acquaintance. I'm sure there are even more boys who are just too shy to say anything. I bet you come off sorta intimidating to them. A young girl who's strong in the Force and aspiring to be a Jedi Knight, clearly talented, apprenticed to one of the sitting Councilors. I mean, that has to mean something, right? I'm sure that's what they think anyways. You should use that to your advantage! Start now, Bella, you might have to use those pretty looks of yours in the future... might be a good idea to start getting used to using them now before you'll need to do it on the spot in a mission. I'd hate for you to get into trouble with some delicate talks because you tried to be flirty and failed," he winked at her with a grin on his face, he was obviously being playful with her, but still a little serious. He wanted her to make friends and take the initiative. It meant a lot to him to make sure she was happy and still had her needs fulfilled. As family he wasn't capable of giving her everything she'd need, and he wanted her to to be both happy and fulfilled. He wanted her to have companionship, and while he felt honored and overjoyed to know she considered him to fill that role, he knew she couldn't get it all from him all the time. "Aren't there any boys you like or want to talk to? I can't be the only one in your life!" He gave her another playful wink.

Isabella blushed a little bit. "Yeah. Well, some of the boys eye me." she said with slightly widened eyes. "There is this one dude though.. I think I we both like each other, but we've been too shy to talk. He and this other guy watches me more than the others. I think his name is like Caleb or something like that. And then the other dude, Josh, he makes himself known. He's very muscular and he is too self involved. All though when it comes to putting his hands on me, he thinks he has a right without my permission. So anytime he's put a hand on me, I've smacked it away. The last time, he'd had enough of me slapping him away and tried to pull me into a kiss, and I didn't like him, so I punched him. I ended up breaking his nose. And the guy, Caleb, he had a good laugh seeing Josh run off crying." she explained. Isabella wasn't one to judge, but something told her to not like Josh. He just over did everything, trying to impress the girls. And Isabella wasn't impressed. She was however impressed with Caleb.

She then though about what he said about her being apprenticed by one of the councilors. "Yeah, that is a high impact. They probably just don't know how to address someone who would be in my position. But maybe you're right, and I know you are, I guess I should use my prettiness as an advantage." she responded.

When he asked if there was any guys she'd like to talk to she nodded the very slightest admitting what felt to be a little embarrassing. "Id like to talk to Caleb. He seems cool in my terms and I think we might have a little bit in common." she said starting to blush again with a small smile.

 

[Ral]

Listening, Kai let out a hopeful chuckle to Isabella's story, he was almost beaming to hear how she handled herself so well. "Some boys can be like that," he stated finally when she was done talking about this guy named Josh who had tried to hit on her. "Hopefully, he's learned his lesson and you won't have to deal with him too much in the future anymore. And if he does you remember you've got me to take care of him." Kai smiled at her. He was genuinely happy to hear that Isabella might actually like someone other than him. There was some hope in him that maybe she would be able to make the first move without any help. "Well, maybe you should go talk to this Caleb fellow if you think he likes you like that. If anything he'd be a good friend, you don't have to, ya know, date or nothin'. Not if you don't want to. Maybe you'd just like to be friends for a while and test the waters, that's okay too. So long as your happy, I'm happy."

Shrugging a little, he let go of Isabella and stood up to get some food as he was suddenly feeling very hungry. "I'm glad we're in agreement, though. And if you ever need help with an introduction or something, just let me know." Pausing for a moment he laughed at the idea that he just had. "Heck, if you'd like we can invite him on a mission. See how he is and how you two work together. If you become friends that will be something you'll want to know early on."

Isabella smiled when he said that some boys can be like that. "Hah, thing is, I'd warned him before to leave me alone. So yeah, maybe now he'll leave me alone and respect me." she said in a little bit of a hopeful glance. She saw his smile when he was happy to know she liked someone other than him. She didn't exactly feel like she was ready to move on from being single yet, but he was right. Maybe they could become friends and go on missions together. "When we get back, I guess it wouldn't hurt to try to talk to him." she tried to look confident, but her look broke into a nervous and the very slightest of fearful. "What do I tell him?!?!" she asked hopelessly. Isabella hadn't really had any experience with guys and she hoped Caleb was truly what she thought he was.

"I think I probably will need help with an introduction. What do I do? Ask him to go out with me on a date of some sorts and dress nice??" she asked now starting to nervously play with her fingers. "I mean, going on a mission sounds great. And I think that would be alot of fun." she responded.

 

[Ral]

"Well, some guys just need to get their teeth knocked out before it sticks. Trust me, I've met a few of those guys before," Kai's face was one of amusement as he replied to Isabella. Seeing the hopeful glance he gave her a pat on the head. It became almost painfully obvious to Kai that Isabella had absolutely no idea what she was doing when it came to boys and how to talk to them. Giving her shoulder a gentle squeeze he smiled and said, "Don't worry. You're overthinking it. Just be yourself, it's the best that way. I've found if you like someone so much you can't talk to them then you'll never work as a couple. The best relationships are ones where you can be friends and romantic. If you can talk to him like you can talk to me then you'll do just fine; trust me on that as someone who has had loads of experience with talking to beautiful women."

As she started to nervously play with her fingers, Kai looked back at her and shook his head. "I'll be a pal and help you out with that then. I think you just need to relax a little, stop overthinking it. Don't worry about saying something to him, just be yourself, don't force it or you'll make it awkward. When we get back to the fleet, I'll bring you with me when I ask him to go on a mission with us, sound good? But only if you promise to be yourself and not try too hard at it. It has to be natural. That's the key."

Isabella nodded when he said some guys needed to have their teeth knocked out. That she totally agreed on one hundred percent. He then patted her on the head after he finished as he then squeezed her shoulder gently when he realized that she didn't talk to boys that much. She then took a deep breath, smiling back before responding. "You're right. I guess I just need to relax." she said giggling slightly when he said he had loads of experience talking to beautiful women.

She nodded again when he said that he'd bring her along to ask him to go on a mission with them. "I promise. I'll probably have to meditate all morning to keep my heart rate down. And to keep me calm enough, not that I can't be calm..." she started to ramble but stopped herself noticing she was already doing what he didn't want her to do.

 

[Ral]

Simply laughing at the young Padawan as she tried and failed to relax, Kai shook his head as he went about making his food. "If you need to meditate to keep yourself calm maybe we shouldn't try this. I wouldn't want you to suffer from a panic attack half way through the mission. Force-forbid we come under attack and something were to happen... I wouldn't want to lose you over it, I mean, I wouldn't want you to become heartbroken and stuff. Ya know?" He gave Isabella a bit of a smile before going back to his preparations. Once he was done he walked back over to where Isabella was sitting on his couch with her leg propped up. "If we do end up bringing him along you need to remain calm and collected. I meant it. Just... don't even think about it. I don't want you freaking out and making a fool out of yourself. Just act naturally."

Starting to snack on the food he had prepped, Kai paused so that he might ask Isabella another question, "So, you got any stories you wanna tell, or any questions you want to ask me, my dear?" The older Jedi figured it would be a good time to bond and share as they waited to reach their destination and for Isabella's leg to heal.

Listening to what he said, Isabella took a deep breath before responding. "You're right, I just need to be myself and pretend that it's just a clone of you. That'd be the easiest way.. I think." she giggled a little her shoulders slumping down slightly as she relaxed. She watched as he put together some food and then came back over and sat back down next to her. "I understand. And I think its going to be the best way to know him, because that's the only way I'll know how he fights most likely." she said in response to him saying that she needed to stay calm and collected.

Isabella nodded when she realized she did have a question. "Yes, I actually have a question. Do we have anything like crutches to use when we get to Naboo so you don't have to carry me? I just don't want you to strain yourself trying to carry me around town if we end up walking around." she asked.
