Affiliation: Mandalorian Underground and Mandalorian Clans

Ownership: N/A

Intent: To update excisting Mandalorian Armor with newer technology and improve combat by Mandalorians overall

Model: Mandalorian 'Vagabond' Combat Armor

Weight: 50kg , Feels like 27kg with the powered suit

Composition: Malleable Gel between two Matrix layers with a coating of plasteel.

Rating: Armor is rated against light and holdout blasters and can stand strong under fire. Armor will buckle under continuous fire by medium blasters. Armor will only stand up to several heavy blaster shots before failing. Can take maybe one blaster cannon shot, crippling the armor but saving the wearer from death. Rated completely against small calibre projectiles. Can deflect medium calibre projectiles easily and will only buckle under continuous fire. Can deflect a good deal of heavy calibre projectiles before buckling. Missiles will destroy the armor completely. Smaller explosions won't do much to the armor while large ones will crumple the armor inward. Rated against EMP blasts.

Description: The 'Vagabond' Armor system is a mixture of the traditional Mandalorian Beskar'gam and newer design techniques. The entire suit is built on a Semi-Powered undersuit. The undersuit takes most of the weight off of the user while the design of the armor itself allows for a good range of movement while not being as comfortable or easy to move as some other arnors, as well as decreasing the user's movement noticeably. The undersuit does not offer the wearer any additional strength. This is necessary due to the heavy weight of the Matrix metal. However, this makes for some incredibly strong armor. The undersuit is also equipped with small plasteel plates which can help absorb damage when the main armor is crippled or damage is taken between the plating. This gives the armor incredibly good full body protection.

The armor uses the traditional Mandalorian designs with several updates. The chest plating is partially updated, using several layered plates for the breaspiece and segmented plating for the stomach piece. The armor is composed of two thin plates of Matrix metal on either side of a semi-maleable gel sealed inside that allows the armor to take damage through one layer with the shock being absorbed by the gel, and another layer behind it to both protect the wearer and further absorb impact. A thin plasteel coating is added on top of the plates to help absorb laser damage. However, depending on the damage taken by a plate, that specific piece might require a patch or replacement due to cracks in the armor and the risk of failure if unchecked.

The T-Visor has been slanted slightly and narowed to still allow a great area of vision while limiting the target the visor presents. The helmet incorporates the 360 degree view present in earlier models, as well as an advanced H.U.D and sensor package. The H.U.D. allows the wearer to mark targets to fellow mandalorians, link to holonet relays and identify weak spots in enemy formations and vehicles, gives up to date information on the wearer and mandalorians in the area, as well as providing a framework for which mandalorians can integrate weapons into the armor, amongst other features like sensors, communications, and various viewing settings like EM, Nightvision, and thermals.

The entire suit is sealed against vacume. Both an enhanced filtration system and expanded emergency air supply located in a dedicated tube mounted on a flexible armor piece on the bottom of the back piece. The suit has a host of survivability features. The undersuit is insulated with a small heating and cooling unit housed near the oxygen reserve and powered by a small generator that powers both it and the armor. There is a water filtration system for prolongued periods without water. Fluids urinated out are filtered into drinkable water that can be consumed through a small extendable tube in the helmet, although this is not advised for long durations and the filter must be replaced after extended use. There are small pouches sized for field rations on the side of the suit's waist.

The armor plating is easy to customize and modify. The only piece needed to secure the suit's seal is the helmet, and even that can be modified as long as it doesn't break the seal at the bottom. All the armor can be modified to fit the needs of the Mandalorian.

Pros and Cons:
P- Rated highly against all small arms.
P- Gives the wearer full body protection.
P- Capable of taking a blaster cannon and keeping the user alive.
P- Capable of sustaining long term operations without external food or water.

C- Heavy even with the weight suit.
C- Cumbersome and reduces agility.
C- Requires frequent checks of water filtration to maintain it's effectiveness.
C- Less easy to modify than modular armor.

Granted, I did just give this a brief read through, but is there really any functional difference between this and Silverfaces aliit'gam?

Also, what is matrix metal?

That's completely modular while this comes in one stock build, good all arounder that the warrior can customize, as well as using the heavier matrix metal and other systems.

It was briefly mentioned in the star wars cannon as being an incredibly strong and heavy material that was used in starship hulls but could also forged into armor.

I recommend providing a link to it in the tech profile, then, so that people who don't know what it is can just click it and read. And, well, calling it by the right name would be good too.

Eh. I put matrix metal since I don't think Matrix was the name of the actual material but it doesn't clarify. I will link it though.

Being the original creator of the Aliit'gam system (Silverface updated and refined it a bit), I can tell you this: aside from having a "powered under-suit", which isn't doable with the image you chose (since that's just an ordinary flightsuit/coveralls) and being made from "Matrix metal", it's IDENTICAL to a basic Aliit'gam suit.

And there's nothing to say that an Aliit'gam suit's plates can't be made from Matrix metal, and an Aliit'gam suit can easily be made to have a powered under-suit (as much as I dislike power armour in Star Wars). As such, I personally don't see a point in this armour having a seperate write-up.

EDIT: Also, the glory of the Aliit'gam system, is that it can be made CHEAPLY, and easily, from garbage and scrap you can find all across the galaxy. This 'Vagabond' armour, contrary to it's name, is made exclusively from a rare-ish and expensive (it's starship hull rated!) metal composite. Seems a bit odd for a Mandalorian "underground", considering the Mandalorians are labled criminals and terrorists by the Imperium and all their holdings were destroyed during the Mandalorian Purge, to switch from a cheap, easy to aquire, system that can be endlessly modified, to a far more expensive and set system.

Isn't that the definition of extremely modular though? I'm just kinda confused here.

I have actually seen at least two sets of Aliit'gam that have been customised with muscle suits and neural collars

I think the idea here is that while the Aliit'gam is a basic platform at heart that you can do basically anything with and put anything on to change it up as you need to, this one is less customizable, and is essentially "one size fits all" in terms of "loadout."

Or something like that.

Meanwhile, Kiro, last I checked the picture doesn't need to provide an exact specification of what the whole unit will look like, just a general sort of idea. And maybe this picture just showcases what one person's armour may look like but doesn't show the powered undersuit, etc. etc. That part's fine. =P

That indeed is the intent and purpose of Aliit'gam.

You make a Mando character and want a suit of cool looking armour. You take Aliit'gam, superimpose whatever image/look from Canon or Legends you want and you'll have the same quality of protection and features as any other Mando, which you can then add to as you see fit. Including a muscule suit and the collar thing. And you can make it out of whatever protective material you want. And it's easy to maintain.

It's designed to be a platform for someone to put their own personal taste onto.

Yeah, and the way this reads, it's supposed to be some sort of heavily armoured shock tooper/commando sort of armour. Kinda like if the Aliit'gam was normal Clone Trooper armour, this is the Katarn-class armour the Clone Commandos used.

Tank versus Humvee, if you will.

It could be somewhat based off of the Aliit'gam set in-story, but ultimately be its own separate thing. It's not as modular or anything like that, yeah, but if you just want a big and extremely protective suit of armour without potentially having to describe it in-profile or even have to come and get it approved specifically, you could use something like this. A sort of standard variant.

But you can make Aliit'gam -into- that kind of armour.

Minus the Shield Generator. . . right? Because if Matrix Metal is stronger than Durasteel, and Titanium both. Whoever wears it could probably take a (Queue Super Imposed Iron Man Reference:) Laser Cannon shot, get up fire a wrist-rocket and walk away as the cannon and the guy on the Cannon explode.

Edit: I'm not a mod or nothing, but I would suggest, and appreciate a Pros and Cons list to the Armor. Like,

Pro(Example): "Is proof against Blaster Pistols." etc etc Make it nice and easy to read.

Con(Example): "Does not protect from explosives."

That's why I say this could be like a standardized variant of Aliit'gam. Related, but obviously more of a full-body protection outfit than the normal Aliit'gam seems to be.

I'm not disputing that, if you wanted, you could make your Aliit'gam into armour like this. But this is armour meant to be able to withstand almost everything coming at it and keep the person alive and possibly even still able to fight, depending on what hits them. The sort of thing that - from what I've seen, anyways - you'd still have to get separately approved anyways, even if it was just your personal Aliit'gam. This could somewhat mitigate that - you're trading away some of that famous modularity (and mobility, and lightness, and such) to have a pre-designed suit that wraps you head to toe in armour, front and back, that you can get as-is, already pre-designed and set up, and still be able to add maybe on or two little gizmos like a wrist mounted dart launcher or something like that, but not much.

EDIT: That's a good idea, Intratec. I'll be sure to pass it on to Outlander, in case he hasn't seen it yet.

Added a pro and con section! Thanks for the tip! :D

Katarn-Class Clone Commando Armor had Shields. But yeah... let's not talk about shields anymore....
