When the galaxy thought of the Sith, they thought of overt aggressors that could be seen coming from a mile away. That they were brash in their actions, that they could not be measured. That they could only fail and never glean anything from it. That they could not prepare and plan. That they could not wait till the opportune moment to strike.
Ajan Kloss was like any other day, but it was missing many of its Knights and Masters. They had been called to Sullust to retrieve a Sector Ranger and to a Sith fortress. The Sith had dealt with Trys Aran enough to know there would be retaliation. They had seen the Jedi fight for the Rangers enough times. The Sith had known to have operatives on standby ready to strike when that shoe finally dropped.
Ajan Kloss was like any other day. It had ships leaving and going, and a Gozanti-class bulk cruiser that frequented the hangar checked in once again. This time, however, the craft had been lined with explosives. No one batted an eye as the ship slid into the hangar, parking like it did any other day.
There was the general humdrum of activity as droids and padawans wandered around the hangar. There was chatter and excitement about the Jedi that had gone to fight at Sullust. There were Jedi sent to protect the Sector Ranger locations and to ensure the Chief was safe. The Jedi had no idea it was this very Chief that had been the source of their location being compromised. The Jedi had no idea that this Gozanti-class bulk cruiser that arrived here many times before had different passengers this time.
The ship came to a halt and the exit door hissed as it slowly opened. The exit ramp began to lower, and there was a figure that began to approach. The very air around the hangar began to grow cold. The padawans would be able to see their wispy breaths and would be filled with a sense of dread. It got worse with each step the figure took, a mask obscuring the face from view.
The first footsteps took him down the ramp as he ignited his saber. His blood red saber.
