Jorren Vel'Sana Training

[Zane]

(( Whoops, I misworded myself. I meant for that to say he had only met his master for about an hour. Sorry for the confusion! ))

Jorren crossed his arms and nodded his head, he would get over her death. Afterall she was one with the force now, this eased his mind and he shook his head to his new master. "No, I would be honoured if you trained me." He bowed his head in respect.

 

[Keinushi]

"Very well, shall we continue this in my training hall?" Niva asked.

 

[Zane]

Jorren noded his head, before beginning to walk. "Yes, let's." Jorren answered.

 

[Keinushi]

Niva lead him through the temple to a room that looked identical to the first training room. "Now, I understand Nuka didn't have time to teach you any abilities before she left, so I'm going to have to ask you what you want to learn first. Like her I let the students decide the curriculum as it helps me to better understand their mental state."

Niva drew a datapad from her side and began hitting several keys as she waited for the padawan to answer.

 

[Zane]

Jorren remembered how Nuka had asked him the very same question and chuckled to himself. "Right, I guess I'll pick this time.. I'm interested in learning a lightsaber technique and something I can use to aid myself in battle. I'm more of a lightsaber person, other than a force user.." He nodded his head, he meditated on this decision a few moments after his previous master had left.

 

[Keinushi]

"A combat type," Niva nodded, hitting keys more rapidly. "Good to know."

Returning the pad to her side she turned to the padawan and smiled warmly to put him at ease. "Now I am a practitioner of Niman, would you like to learn this technique or another?"

 

[Zane]

(( I couldn't find anything listing if any forms were unavailable, so I'm relying on the more experienced one here! ))

Jorren tapped his chin, in thought about the teachings as a youngling. He recalled something and put his hand back at his side. "I remember a form that struck me as something I would like to learn. Form VII. Juyo."

 

[Keinushi]

Niva nodded. "Juyo is both the strongest and weakest lightsaber form. It undoubtably has an abundance of power, however its weakness is its foot positioning. Its very easy to trip a Juyo user leaving them on the ground helpless. Do you still wish to learn Juyo?"

((not trying to rag on Juyo, but it seriously is the weakest of the techniques. I'll teach you whatever you want though.))

 

[Zane]

Jorren rubbed the fur on his chin in thought. "Well, if there is anything you can suggest to me that would be good for offensive combat, I'd be willing to listen to your advice, master." He stated.

( I'm just looking for a good offensive combat, I plan for him to be a Guardian-type Jedi. )

 

[Keinushi]

"I don't mean to promote myself," Niva offered. "But I've found that Niman lends itself best to all combat situations."

 

[Zane]

Jorren nodded his head. "Alright then! I shall follow your learning in Niman." He grinned his canine-like teeth and kneeled down in his meditative position. "Where shall we begin, master?"

 

[Keinushi]

"I like to start with the basics of Shii-cho, did you learn that yet from the youngling trainer?" Niva asked.

 

[Zane]

"I am familiar with it, yes." Jorren nodded his head, after responding.

 

[Keinushi]

"Good." Niva smiled. "Then the rest is easy. Niman uses previous knowledge plus creativity to make its own style. Each is slightly different depending upon who is using it. For instance I was trained in Shii-Cho before hand as well as ataru. So I have a defensive style that involves a lot of flips. My two blades also contribute to the uniqueness of my style. Now attack me while I defend. See if you can break my defenses."

Niva pulled two training blades off the wall using the force and offered one of the metal cylinders to Jorren.

 

[Zane]

Jorren grinned and stretched his neck side to side before looking to the blade his master was handing him. He gripped it with one hand and backed away from her slowly, dropping down into the stance he was taught as a youngling, Shii-Cho. He decided on attacking one her left leg, he spun himself to try and distract her and made it look as if he was going to attack her right arm, but quickly changed positions and diagonally striked at her left leg.

 

[Keinushi]

Niva leaped in a somersault over Jorran landing behind him. Her own blade still deactivated.

 

[Zane]

Jorren used the force to help aid his vision where he could not see, he spun himself around diagonally slicing for her neck.

 

[Keinushi]

Niva used the force to push herself away from the padawan and landed in a ready pose 5 ft away. Her lightsaber was still deactivated.

 

[Zane]

I could try flipping over her, but that would not succeed. Jorren thought to himself while dropping down into a defensive stance just incase. "Hmm.. I see no way of hitting you master." Jorren stated before spinning in a 360 degree turn and angling his weapon down to her neck again, but quickly changed positions and tried anticipating her flip with his blade.

 

[Keinushi]

Niva slid to the ground, her left hand bracing herself as her legs were essentially doing the splits. "Better, but try combining techniques at the same time."

((this is advice I gave a student of my bogan character, but it works universally))((Example: Katarn rolled foreward. Her whip swinging so it would wrap around Albedo if he did not dodge. She then thrust upwards with her lightsaber in her left hand in case he dodged to the right. She also sent out a wave of the force if he dodged to the left.))((This would stop your character from standing still, dodging left or right, but not from leaping out of the way, or sliding backwards or counterattacking. If you counter the first attack (the whip) by say wrapping it around your blade and yanking, the other attacks become pointless and I take up where you stopped my attack. If the attack impresses you enough, you let it capture you.))
