JEDI GUARDIANS
THE SITH have returned. They made their presence known by attacking a prison on Coruscant, in the heart of the galaxy. They hunt down and kill JEDI KNIGHTS. Their intent is clear: to destroy the JEDI ORDER and sow chaos across the galaxy.
NYKORIA TALLIS is one of the many Jedi who recently encountered the Sith on a mission. But it's the news of the second attack on her homeworld of Coruscant that spurs her into action. Resolute to keep people safe from this menace, Nykoria calls for fellow members of the Order to take a more active stance.
The Sith blame the Jedi for meddling in galactic affairs; so the Jedi would do just that. They would forge closer ties with the governments of FREE WORLDS once again. They would put their skills to protect the weak. They would fight crime and Sith influence everywhere they find it.
They would become the new JEDI GUARDIANS...
In a nutshell, we're facing a KotOR-like situation. There is a clear threat to peace and order in the galaxy. The Jedi seem a bit slow to respond so far. I figure some Jedi would encourage others to take action. It makes sense for @Nykoria Tallis to be such an individual. She saw what Sith rage could look like, and she is from Coruscant, which gets a lot of Sith attention. Kori's pre-Jedi-Order training in law enforcement also plays a part.
These "more pro-active" Jedi would refer to themselves as Jedi Guardians. Their primary goal would be to protect the galaxy from the Sith. But since they can't just act as unsanctioned vigilantes, they'd have to make connections with planetary governments. Establish Jedi presence on various planets; gain trust by fighting crime; expand the Jedi Order more aggressively. I feel that day-to-day contact with the grim realities of the galaxy could open up avenues for a "less flawless and incorruptible" branch of the Jedi Order.
I picked the name for a couple of reasons. Partly, because I think it fits the current situations. And secondly, because I wanted to reference an old Legends sub-class of Jedi. Since combating the Sith is one of the main goals, it makes sense that many Jedi who had dedicated themselves to lightsaber training could relate to the concept of "Jedi Guardians".
