I'll be putting up a sign up shortly; what I'm thinking is perhaps a generic character sheet and everyone can take their pick of gear to begin. That said, with the few we have interested who have never played, I may pull my old points-buy list that explains each piece of equipment and its uses on the battlefield. Just as well, I am downsizing us to be a Company, rather than a regiment simply because in my experience, regimental commanders have very little interaction with their enlisted grunts besides the required, while a company level officer interacts much more and fights alongside his or her soldiers. So, we will be a company within a regiment, rather than an entire regiment. That would make my character a Major instead (though, our commissar will of course retain his place. However, he will be company level, as will any other attaches.)

mhm it's been like a good number of years since I last played the 40k tabletop game...so I only know the basic tech...like for example the base leman russ..so it would be nice that if there's mention of a different variant of said tank or equipment in the RP it would be nice to have a link for it..so I can see what the different is between that and the base version of whatever XD

Given we've already done a few applications, I think the points buy will be moot; however, Lexicanum has a fairly well developed list for references if you need 'em!

You can and will, soldier. We are Guardsmen. We hold the line and die standing.

Ok, so, I just started getting into 40k, never played it, don't know too much.

But if I ended up making a character for this, would I be able to be an Enginseer?

I heard heresy!

Really? Only just now?

Because I've been pretty boisterous about it so far, if I say so myself . . .

For real, though, my Guardsman is probably going to just skirt on the line of heresy at times. Just never around your Commissar, Tri. XD

@KrakenDaWhip,

I'd love to have you in on this, however, I'm gonna have to say no and here's my reason why; we are beginning to get too many of the goodies, and not enough meat! A psyker, a priest, a commissar...already I'm kinda seeing the normal guardsmen being drowned out and that was really more what I was wanting this RP to be about. I fear if we get too many more, the RP will stall just because no one will have any reason to actually interact with one another.

This is mostly due to the setting of 40k; the psykers are their own secretive order, the priests are their own order, the Enginseers are their own, etc. The only reason I'm saying no is because of the division we already kind of have happening. Would you mind doing a regular guardsmen mechanic? Someone trained in the field of cogitators and repairs, perhaps one of the maintenance crew from either of the orbital platforms or the Hive-mine cities on Hesperus?

Shoot my soldiers only after they've fired at the enemy. Otherwise, stop wasting ammunition. XD

Sure, I wouldn't mind doing a Guardsman mechanic, I didn't even know those existed.

If you can get your hands on the PDF of Only War I suggest looking up the Operator class pages. They give a pretty good overview of their mechanics. But yeah, they exist. They're no Tech-Priests, but they have a certain knack and a bit less superstition about machinery than their fellows.

Knowing as little as I do about 40k the Ad Mech seem interesting, but I think Orks are my favorite species/faction
