Imperial Guard Interest Check (discussion)

Hey there all!

For those who do not know, I am a huge fan of the game and universe of Warhammer 40000. I used to run a roleplay for it on another site, but its been years since that was shut down. So here, I would like to gather interest from all of my lovely SWerpers out there on starting another roleplay here.

Given all the species of 40k, my favorite has always been the Imperial Guard; it is fascinating to be a mere human in the universe where super soldiers, aliens, and demons are rampantly violent. What I'm working on is that we would be playing newly recruited guardsmen for a newly formed regiment on the garden world of Hesperus; a world rather similar to our Earth located near the Sabbat Worlds. I figured what I would do is take the role of an incoming colonel, newly appointed to his role as regimental commander, with a few of you taking first come first serve positions as regimental leaders and the rest taking their roles as the regular guardsmen. We could also bring this down to battalion level in this new regiment as well.

What are your thoughts? As far as I'm concerned, we'd begin with the forming and build up from there before hopping into combat and such. What do y'all think?

what sort of imperial guard regiment would it be(kreig corp sp tallarans ect ect), but regardless this sounds good, though what would the story be behind it?(apart from the obvious lol) but i'm interested in this

I figure we'd begin a regular infantry regiment, none of the special sub-genres. I guess the closest would be the Cadians. I figure the story is that the regiment is new in its Founding; either that due to its military history another regiment has not been founded on the world in some time, or that this is the first time the world has been tithed with raising a regiment to join the Imperial Guard. This is where we would start; the 'Officers' would be arriving to inspect the unit and get them to training, the Guardsmen would be training for whatever specialty they might have and preparing for the arrival of their new command. From there, I figure we could spend some time doing training, establishing ourselves as a regiment, before at some point being pulled to join a campaign (Sabbat Worlds, Eye of Terror, Maelstrom, Space Hulk Sweep, etc.) to begin the action.

Tristar, you officially have dibs on the commissar haha.

Oh yes, there will be death! Anyone else have any interest? I figure we can have a ragtag unit; not everyone in a regiment will necessarily be a specialist, but that's what NPC's are for!

I have to say that if the RP starts, we can always say that if anybody else joins up we can say they are replacements for the NPC losses we'll have during training XD XP

EDIT: Additionally, I will be opening just a few special attache spots up to represent the various people that would have a hand in forming a regiment and overseeing their training. I've yet to decide what all I will allow, but the chances of a space marine or battle sister are not out of the picture. Tristar will be our regimental commisar; we may need a tech priest to assist with our mechanical work. Overall, all things can be NPC'd, just showing off some options to try and garner some more interest!
