The Clone Wars with the CGI you could do allot more and better things with that than just choreographed dance moves with a stick. Like Palpatine V Maul and Savage. That was a cool fight.

You can do a lot of natural fight scenes in live-action too. Live-action isn't a limitation. It's about the cinematography and the stunt coordination, both of which were poor in the prequels. But there are a lot of movies where fights look great and include no CGI.

And obviously you'll have some CGI in a lightsaber fight - the lightsaber itself is computer generated by default - but the fact that the show was a cartoon and the movies were not is irrelevant.

He might of mastered the forms but considering Yoda's moves as you saw in the film followed the same Su-Ma Rotations over again with no variation and predictability at least against Palpatine. Had he applied other forms and variations with a personalized form his smaller size could of paid off with the advantage in his incredible years of experience, could of beaten palpatine or at least caused him more harm than a force push and that repulse between him and Palpatine with the Tutaminus and Lightning being applied against one another.

While Yoda is a master of the force, the problem is his age. Yoda was old, very old to be more specific. Living for many centuries made him past his prime, and it seems to me that he never really went into fights unless he really needed to. He had trouble walking, and my proof is that cane that he always used to walk with. The only reason why he was dangerous was because he was a master of force augmentation, and used it very frequently. That was how he was able to match opponents that were way younger than him.

I never cared for EU explanations like that. Those answers are only there to paper over parts of the films that didn't make any sense, like the old, crippled Yoda throwing aside his cane and bouncing off the walls like a frog.

So after I read this thread and having watched the first two seasons of the Clone Wars while working my way through the rest of the seasons... I now realize just how much Darth Vader was a necessary evil for the Jedi and Republic. To me, it mirrors Darth Bane saving the Sith through a purge, a necessary overhaul.

Having watched the Clone Wars, I'm almost appauled by some of the Jedi who so openly place the concerns of the war and the senate over the people who suffer from the war. Namely Mace Windu(who seems no different, or worse, in TCW) and sometimes Obi-Wan. It was some Jedi like Plo Koon(who made a comment in the Boba Fett arc that despite the war, he was never too busy to help the civilians of the Republic) , Ima-Gun Do(who he and his Troops sacrificed their lives so the Twi'leks of Ryloth could escape) and Ashoka showed they deserved the title of Jedi.

I went into this show with little expectations, and it greatly surprised me.

Gave the thread a quick read through, and I agree with a lot of points. But there's one thing that I think could have made the prequel's better and The Clone Wars didn't improve much at all.

Count Dooku.

From the prequel side, you had arguably the most renown actor to ever play in any of the SW movies, someone who's voice emanates power and authority. So you take this actor, and turn his character into a side show. He's the figurehead of the Separatists and the public face of the Sith, yet we hardly get any information about him. In Episode two, we learned he was Qui-Gon's Master and Yoda's Padawan, and that information is never touched on again. We are shown he's one of the most powerful duelists in the galaxy, and he only gets two fights over both movies. He never even gets a full name.

In the Clone Wars, he doesn't fair much better. If I had to guess, I'd say he appeared more in holograms than as a physical character. We still have no background on him at all. Why did he turn? How did Sidious find him? What is his god damn name?

I think Dooku should have completely replaced Maul in Episode I. It should have been him vs Qui-Gon, and maybe Qui-Gon holds off Dooku while Obi-Wan and Anakin escape. This gives Anakin a target for his anger, and Obi-Wan as well, which would have been interesting to see Obi-Wan also tempted by the Dark Side. We could get a bit more detail about Dooku from the fight, or maybe even Qui-Gon just bringing it up.

TCW/Episode III should show Anakin making a name for himself as a General, scouring the galaxy for Dooku, while getting closer to Palpatine. Mustafar should have been Anakin vs Dooku while the Emperor watched, still after the betrayal of the Jedi although Anakin thinks that the Jedi just want Palpatine dead to secure power. Anakin kills Dooku, while Obi-Wan, who knows the truth about Palpatine, arrives to attempt the kill the Emperor. Anakin defends Palpatine and now we get the Anakin vs Obi-Wan fight while Palpatine flees. Ani get's Vader-ized and now we're into A New Hope.

Gives Christopher Lee much more screen time and more exposure to Dooku as a character.

After reading this I'm pretty disappointed that Pros, Brandon, and Johnny never suggested I watch this show.

Star Wars wasn't the only film to give Christopher Lee a insignificant role. Sadly won't be the last either.

I could suggest it, but we know how that would end. :p

At first, I thought I was going to disagree with you. But the last paragraph really spoke truths. Nice discussion.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe the new Rebels show is going to tie into TCW. Rebels isn't as good as TCW, but it at least gives us what happens after TCW and RotS.

Ahsoka is in Rebels, and Rex will be showing up this season. So yes, the show will tie in.

I'm not going to lie. I only started watching Star Wars in 2010 considering that I grew up in Africa. I still like the prequels, even though I few some scenes as completely useless and like you stated, "looking at the saga from a more critical standpoint". I like the Clone Wars. It is definitely one of my favorite animated series, and it was sad that it ended.
we get star wars in africa.

You can get internet in any part of africa really. Speed may be a issue though.
