Sess here, nice to meet you all. I've come from an odd RP background, but I love RP. I've played SW:TOR rp'd as a a few separate sith, never in a leader position though. I also RP'd in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - Multiplayer mod which was surprisingly in depth, structured, and popular. I really like to make flashy, memorable, and unique characters. I'd like to get into RP as soon as I possibly can. I usually avoid forums because I don't like waiting long times for the RP to continue, but it's been so long and I really miss quality RP.

I hope I can quickly find somewhere to settle in and get involved in some great stories and adventures.

G'day Sess! Welcome to TheStarWarsRP.com!

Don't stress yourself too much about wait times for RP's around here, most of our members are really active and get a few RP posts per day up, but naturally as you're aware, some of us have lives and sometimes patience is required!

Anyway, if you have any questions about the site, don't hesitate to PM me!

He's messing with you. The only dues owed to the forum are common sense and respect for your fellow members.

Just don't rush yourself. Quality over quantity unless you're Russia. :p

Hey there! Wanna make a thread with me?

I still haven't submitted my character sheet or gotten approved for anything, but I'd love to! I think based on your avatar, our characters might mesh well together. ;)

Nice, If your gonna rp a mando or a bounty hunter I would choose the Hutt Cartel.

I was planning on someone who is currently marauding the galaxy as a wannabee bounty hunter, is good with a blaster, but has an adversity to the things asked of him. I'm making him a force sensitive character as well. I wanted to give him a Shoto and a blaster to start off with, but I dont feel right giving him the ability to use the shoto right off the bat. I had planned to make his fighting style more 'intelligent' and less 'strength' based, making him a dexterous dual wielder in the end, who relies on surprising, confusing, and playing mind games and attacking at odd angles with his opponents, not afraid to run from a fight. To start off with I have been researching all types of dual saber forms and real life martial arts for a few days and wanted to start him off with the short lightsaber and a blaster, having created his own type of CQC fighting style, then evolve it into a dual wielding saber style that involves shutting off and reigniting his saber to throw his opponents off balance during saber locks and parries etc. It's an idea I came up with myself when I got into star wars in middle school, but I recently read about it on line and found that it was in some published literature for the series, so I thought I'd see if it would hold any credence on here. I'm constructing my char sheet right now, what do you guys think?

Which faction should I join for my character in mind?

No disrespect, Sess... but you haven't done enough research if you believe that this is an original concept. Link

Tràkata was a form of lightsaber combat developed for taking advantage of a lightsaber blade's ability to be turned on and off, a unique quality in a melee weapon. Quickly shutting off then re-igniting the blade could cause confusion in one's opponents, allowing for diversionary feints in combat. Mixed with Jar'Kai, Tràkata was extremely effective, even against multiple opponents.
For clarification, Jar'Kai is the art of dual weilding lightsabers.

Yeah, I know, I meant to say I came up with it independent of any in-depth knowledge when I first got into Star Wars. :) I used to play fight with my cousins, and I always tried thinking of new ways to 'come at them' and this had occurred to me, though obviously impossible to execute hahaha. Yeah, I read about the Saber forms as well, but I still don't know if my character would be allowed, especially being allowed to wield a short lightsaber in tandem with a blaster. I got the idea from cowboys in the wild west, and roaming samurai (ronin) I thought it'd be cool if he could be a sort of in-between mock up of a bounty hunter and force adept. Too individualistic for the jedi order as I know it, though from what i read on the introductory threads for new users, he might fit in as some of the sects in the council are headed by dark jedi if im not mistaken.

I did read the article on jark'kai and all tangential associations with dual saber/wielding combat, and im glad to see you know about these things as well. everyone here actually seems pretty well versed in the star wars universe, its exciting to see. :)

I just realised how assholish my post must have seemed, so I apologise for that.

But anyway to your actual question, Trakata can hold plenty of creedence on this site, but you've gotta be quite careful with force sensitive characters. There's a rule/unspoken/expected rule that states something akin to the notion where you can't have a character know skills, or possess a power level of a "Knight" or higher (or equivalent of those ranks) unless you have held a character of that skill level in a faction on this site previously. Admittedly its a largely case by case process, and isn't so much a case of "approval" or disapproval, but starting with a character who has less knowledge, less experience allows your character to grow "into" the SWRP lore, and allows you the time you need to get a better handle on the rules and functionality of the site.

I won't say "Don't do it", but just keep in mind that when you write. Ultimately it'll all depend on how you present your character and if it all makes sense in your writing... y'know? 0.o

(i'm not making an ounce of sense, am i?)
