Hang on a second... Let me get my head round this;

-You guys have a meeting where nobody is really there.
-My guys infiltrate and watch said meeting.
-I'm assuming you'll have to spot my guys, cause they ain't dumb enough to assassinate a hologram.
-They run, you chase.

That about right?

You're right about the first two but how the battle starts is up to how the thread goes, it'll either be the S13 agents alert the republic and/or jedi OR we find them and attempt to chase them, landing into republic forces were a battle ensues.

Makes no sense to have a battle to kill some holograms.

That's why I was confused about it in the first place about who to send whose just important enough to warrant a battle thread, the hologram idea was brought up which would be a way to get there, but not a way to have targets for the republic.

The only way I see it working with the holograms is if, we become aware that S13 agents are present on the planet, we send the military to take them out, they alert the republic for back up and then a battle ensues.

Well I thought the first thread was going to be us meeting via hologram, and the S13 agents listen in or what have you having previously scaled up the ladder as under cover operatives in the hutt's employ and they hear where we'll actually be meeting in person to show in what ways we can aid one another. You would bring your henchmen some nifty gadgets and a some ships you'd offer us to command under you and then we show you that we can use the force better than any jedi could for your needs. At this point the battle would errupt and what not in the SECOND thread where I have my men there able to aid on board your ships.

Whats the point in meeting up as holograms and THEN meeting up in person?

You said your hutt wouldn't meet someone in person out of the blue? And it'd give the S13 guys a chance to report back where the meeting will take place as opposed to it just happening at random "LOL GAIS GET HAR NAO"

It just seems redundant, I mean what could be said in person that couldn't be said via hologram? And the S13 agents being there in the first place seems like a legitimate enough reason for the Hutt to send a small military force to find and take them out, once alerted to their presense.

The agents would call for back up, the Republic send a fleet in response and the Hutts reply in kind.

There'd be a small battle down on the planet, with a large space battle going on overhead.

That way we can roleplay our leader characters doing business going over how to go about giving the Bogan safe passage through Hutt space via hologram, with small guard escorts bringing the 'holo pad or whatevers' to the planet. The S13 agents are discovered and immediately start high tailing it back to their ship, they're cut off by the Hutt military strike force and a small battle ensues.

The military battle happens above and thus the battle is joined. It seems very Star Warsy to me.

A small battle going on on the planet, with a large one up above.

There's too much planned out in that idea.

Having the S13 agents uncover the information in secret when you guys are talking via hologram allows the agents to then report back to the Republic about the meeting's location. Once that's done, it's all up in the air as to what happens once the Republic comes in.

But why would the republic come in for a bunch of holograms?

I was just detailing a possible scenario, not dictating the way the RP will play out.

The Republic agents can come in because they think there's a face-to-face meeting. They see the hologram and then find out what the location for the face-to-face meeting will be.

Which brings me back to my previous point, why organize a face to face meeting in the first place when anything can pretty much be said via hologram?

I think S13 agents being discovered is the best scenario for a battle to begin that makes sense.

I don't like the idea of just deciding beforehand that S13 agents will be discovered.

The Bogan can demand a face-to-face after a hologram meeting if he wants. Holograms can be hacked, information can be uncovered like that, etc.

I don't see it being any different then deciding that there is going to be a face to face meeting, or that they'll discover it in the first place.

Even if they did relay the information back to the republic without being discovered, that's still not a logical reason for sending an entire fleet.

Agents discovered. Republic fleet comes for aid. Hutt responds with fleet. An even battle is joined, fair for both sides and the ultimate fate of the battle is decided in the military thread.

The problem is that you're automatically deciding that the Republic agents are discovered and then that's the catalyst for aid. You can't just decide automatically that the agents are going to be captured. That's not fair to those people's characters, because you're not even giving them a chance to make it out.

Having the hologram meeting allows them the possibility of escaping and then getting word of the face-to-face meeting back to the Republic.
