"Trace?" Ashla's eyebrows furrowed, and she turned her full attention to the acolyte. "Was it because of some dumb acolyte prank? Ask the blind girl to draw and then call her a mean name? An idiot tried to give me a stupid nickname once, tried calling my cone-head. Cause they're pointy likes cones," she pointed at the tips of her montrals as she continued, "they stopped once I beat one of them so hard he needed dentures. Old toothless never picked on my again. That's what you have to do, if they call you a name you make them stop." Through that whole mini-rant, not once did the thought occur to her that it might simply have been a name she liked, born out of endearment and affection rather than mockery and loathing. If she had been sober she might have thought further on that, why she had just assumed the worst, but maybe that was just how she was built. All the positive interactions in her life since her days in the Cadre had managed to do was make her feel protective for the girl and give her advice, even if it was shitty advice.

But before she could say more, shit finally hit the fan. "Problem.." She replied to the acolyte's question, her eyes on the fight that broke out, "might be an understatement." She was sure that Trace, despite not having the advantage of height to see over the heads of the other partygoers, would have noticed the fight by now, if her sight worked anything like Malou's. In the past she would have considered that excuse enough to just ditch her and run to help, but all that diplomacy training her master had forced her to take on Serenno had left at least some impression on her. "Excuse me," she said as she turned to move, "if this escalates, be prepared to run."

With that she started moving towards the duo, but lacking the strength of the likes of Tiamat and Draugr, she couldn't just force her way to the fight. And by the time she did manage to get through one of the aforementioned lords had intervened. Relieved that he had, and hating Aadya and Vahl for making her feel anything but irritation towards the man, she stopped in her steps. Under normal circumstances she would have gone to one of Aadya or Vahl to see if they were okay, but that irritation took care of that impulse. Draugr was right, they had been acting like children, and over a boy at that. The realization that they just made her agree with Draugr, again, just pissed her off even more, and she just turned away from the scene of the crime and returned her focus to Trace.

"So," she more threatened than asked, "you want to dance?" She didn't give her much of a choice, as she grabbed her hand, and started moving to the beat.

The first thing Sol noticed after he shoulder-checked his way around some Pantoran he'd never seen before was that he knew both the ladies involved in the fight. One was obviously Aadya, the other the half-Sephi from before. Also, the latter's dress was what caught flame. Both women were glaring daggers, the Force flaring between. Sol glanced between the two of them and edged forward, his stance lowering slightly while Ailis cheered. There was something approaching a grin on Sol's face too, his fist in the air, although he didn't actually start cheering out loud.

Sol wasn't planning on involving himself, but the change in how he stood was instinctual. Sol tensed further as, barely a moment later, Draugr showed up to put an end to things. The silent acolyte watched him, then the two ladies get thrown, and then the fight was basically over as quick as it started. Sol relaxed and turned around to the girl who'd earlier called him a tease. Forming an apologetic expression he slipped backward away from the crowd's edge- where several drunk acolytes were booing the end of the fight- and finished what he'd started a bit earlier by pressing his lips to hers. A little longer this time.

An arm around her waist he'd scoot them around closer to the bar, toward Aadya. Sol was sure she was fine, but still. Assuming Ailis didn't slip away- she was totally free to, Sol's grip wasn't binding- he walked up to the Firrerreo. In front of her line of sight with an 'OK'? hand sign, as he usually tried to since he was a quiet dude. His version of support was offering her a little snack pack of beef jerky from his goody bag she was hopefully receptive to. He gestured vaguely toward where the fight had been, and looked bewildered. He had no context for what the fight was even over in the first place.

He also gestured to Aadya and Ailis by way of introduction since... Y'know. Mute.

Ain't no party like a Sith party, that's for sure. Something told Sol that wasn't gonna be the only scrap tonight. Did he need to see if Vahl and her burnt skirt were good too, or..? Last he'd seen she was with Malou and Aadya was with Altair. Where the hell did everyone go, the damn toilets? He didn't have a social checklist for this situation, especially while faded like he was.

So hot right now? The hell? Was she about to start blowing Veles in the bathroom? Damn. Dude had some mad fucking game all right. He was about to crack a joke when his very slow brain caught on that there was nothing good about their situation. By the time Tiamat moved, the stasis on him was released and he whipped around to see a fight break out. Altair had no idea what the hell Wildfire did, but he simply saw red.

He didn’t care. He only knew that his Master was being threatened.

Altair channeled the Force to himself, bringing up his fists in ways Cairo had seen him do many times before. He was fueled with rage as he angled his head for a full on goring. Without waiting, he sprang off and charged directly towards Tiamat. He aimed not only to deck her a few times, but also plow into her with all his horns. When he yelled at the top of his lungs, it was half slurred and slow, barely coherent with his heavy accent.

“BACK THE FUCK OFF MY MASTER, CARROT ASS BITCH!”

Vahliri kept her eyes narrowed harshly upon Aadya - predatory and vicious intent burning behind her honeyed gaze. She poured her energies into the Firrerreo’s ring until it burned molten hot, continuing to apply the heat despite the way that Aadya smiled at her. Even if the Champion didn’t vocalize any discomfort, there was no way that the Acolyte wasn’t doing damage and she pointedly wasn’t going to let up.

It wasn’t jealousy that fueled her at this point - the thoughts of Altair and their flirtatious dance somewhat distant in her mind. She was fueled entirely by her own pride - an unwillingness to back down or bow her head to some newly-ordained Acolyte who sought to put her in her place. Even if it left her burned, bloodied and damaged - Vahliri wasn’t going to back off.

It wasn’t until Draugr approached that Vahliri’s attention was finally yanked away from the Firrerreo - her almond-shaped eyes widened ever-so-slightly as she was grasped by the throat and hoisted into the air. There was a moment of panic that flashed across her features, though it didn’t linger for more than a split second - her eyes rapidly flicking towards the Zabrak before fixating back onto Aadya. The half-Sephi’s sneered, her chin tilted up ever-so-slightly to glare daggers down at the Firrerreo.

She didn’t argue - didn’t try to justify her actions - to the Sith Lord. For once, the half-Sephi was deathly silent, listening to the Zabrak until he finally shoved her backwards and released the grip on her throat.

Vahliri reached up to rub her neck, clearing her throat a few times as she rose back to her feet. She stared in Aadya’s direction, watching as the Firrerreo proceeded to chuck the ruined ring at her feet. The half-Sephi didn’t tilt her head down to look at it, instead returning the gesture by extending her middle finger towards the Firrerreo - lingering for a few moments before turning away.

She reached out with the Force, tendrils of Telekinesis wrapping around the heels she had discarded and the necklace that had been set aside - and surprisingly - hadn’t been stolen. The half-Sephi slipped back into her shoes and re-strung the jewels around her throat, running a hand through her dark locks to fix them back into place. The half-Sephi glanced down at the burnt hem of her dress that went up higher on her leg, narrowing her eyes ever-so-slightly.

Huffing through her nostrils, Vahliri finally began to weave her way back towards the dancefloor - purposefully avoiding the bar where Aadya had wandered off. It didn’t take her long to spot Ashla, but seeing as the Togruta was otherwise occupied, she didn’t head in that direction quite yet. As she walked, the half-Sephi couldn’t help the single recurring thought that tugged at her mind.

Where the fuck are Altair and Cairo?

Trace was thoroughly unprepared for the response she received from Ashla. Apparently, the Champion hated her name or something. Either that or there was some lingering, un-dealt with trauma.

Uh... it's um... just less of a mouth full than Tracela, she said. Not to mention the fact that she actually couldn't stand her own full name. It was just a little too... prissy.

But I will keep that in mind, ma'am, she said. She could tell Ashla's attention was now fully drawn away, and Trace's own focus shifted as well. She tilted her head slightly to the side as if listening to a conversation behind her, but in reality she was simply focusing on whatever was going down. It was over almost before it began.

I have your back, ma'am, she said, indicating she wasn't going to run if things escalated. It was probably unwise, Ashla wasn't her master or anything, but... well, she stuck with it anyway.

They pressed their way through the crowd, but it was all dispersed within moments and before she had even had time to shift her attention back to Ashla, the woman had grabbed her hand and threatened her into a dance. All things considered, it could have probably been worse.

She was more nervous now than she had been earlier, but as she let the rhythm flow back through her again, she got into the groove, moving and shifting to the music.

Ailis took it all in. She had never seen Sith in action, the Force in action. She watched as one girl extinguished her dress. Watched as the other one's ring heated up and turned red on her finger. She shrunk back away from the action when a Zabrak showed up and lifted both of the fighting girls up in the air and berated them before flinging them both away from eachother. She watched the second woman pull the glowing red ring from her fingers and toss it to land at her opponents feet, fangs bared.

This party was awesome.

Ailis was startled by the sudden return of Sol and his lips, but met his kiss intensely for a moment before turning and dragging him behind her as she walked towards the bar where Ms. Badass was. Settling next to her at the bar, she let Sol keep his arm around her waist as she practically flew at the woman.

"Wow, holy shit that was so gorram cool! How did you make it not hurt when she burned your finger?" Ailis asked intensely. This was serious stuff. "I'm Ailis, this is Sol." She introduced them before leaning in towards Sol's ear. "I'm Ailis, by the way. In case you were wondering." She whispered, having realized that she had never told the guy her name. "What's your name? Can I buy you a drink?" She asked, forgetting that it was an open bar and the drinks were free for a moment.

Oh shit. They were about to fight. Like, actually fight; not whatever . He looked to Lord Veles. Had their little adventures of Mataou led to this? Maybe he was right, that day - the side effects were too severe. But he didn't want Lord Veles to suffer alone for this. Then again, he was a Sith Lord, and the Sith generally had a 'might makes right' vibe. Cairo couldn't use his words to defend him, nor did he have anything especially slippery to use. He could throw the pee sink, maybe? That seemed like it could backfire really rapidly, though. As Tia's grip on him released, he watched Altair stance up to fight him.

He didn't know what he was getting himself into. Cairo wrapped himself around Altair as he charged. When Altair was mad, he was damn near unstoppable. So instead, Cairo would steer him. Once again, Cairo was piggybacking on Altair, intending to steer him away from Tia as she charged. As Altair charged, Cairo tugged on his right horn from Altair's back, and he intended to steer Altair away. Instead, the pair would go towards the door, as Altair would now hopefully burst through the restroom's dingy door.

As they appeared in the hall, Cairo would frantically run opposite the bathroom back towards the dance floor, dragging Altair towards a safe haven. If Wildfire made people that mad, there was something obviously wrong. Or, it was just Sith being Sith. Either way, it was nothing that implicated Altair. He had to rescue him. "Bro - there's a lotta shit we don't know about that. Veles is strong. He's got it." He slapped Altair on the back as they were back outside in the bar.

Hopefully. Unless they were stopped.

Malou responded to Vahliri's movements, pushing into and away from her as the two of them swayed to the music. The Miralukan lost herself in the moment, her focus entirely on the half-Sephi she was dancing with as her hips swung side to side and her arms slowly lowered. When Vahliri closed the distance between them, Malou didn't shy away. There was something tantalizing about dancing so close to someone. It meant nothing, which made it even more fun. She was having the time of her life, but unfortunately, all good things have to come to an end.

Vahliri walked off after quipping something about her going to save Veles from chaperone duty. There was a pang of regret for the ended dance, but it didn't last long. Veles? She'd have no issue going to relieve Veles from chaperone duty. Shit, where'd he go? He wasn't around the bar where he'd been before, and she couldn't find him elsewhere in the room. She figured he was probably off in the bathroom. There's no way he would've just left, right?

She stood there for a few moments, unsure of what to do. It wasn't until Cairo appeared to grab Altair from Vahliri and Aadya's jealous hands that Malou noticed the drama unfolding. Damnit. Her irritation was not for the two fightings, but the fact that yet another person she'd wanted to dance with was running off to a bathroom. That being said, she was here to get fucked up and dance, so that's what she was going to do.

Keeping her distance from the catfight about to ensue, Malou found a random dance partner in the crowd and continued dancing. The two of them danced for a bit, closer than either of them would dance sober, hands traveling over shoulders and hips as they moved to the music and flashing lights. Eventually, the girl wandered off to rejoin her friends, leaving Malou alone again. After a moment of deliberation, she whipped out her datapad and shot Cairo a quick few texts.

> heyyyy
> come find me on the dancefloor!!

Her datapad disappeared to wherever it had come from, and the Miralukan began to make her way further into the dance. She all but almost ran into Vahliri, only catching sight of her short stature just in time to halt her movement. "Hey, you good?" She tilted her head down a bit to mimic eye contact.

Don't fucking touch him? Very well, she would tear him apart.

She stepped backwards, absorbing much of his shove, but she heard a jumble word puzzle of an insult behind her. While Cairo worked to steer his raging bro-bud out of the restroom, if Altair made any attempt to turn back or Cairo was unable to control him, Tiamat would happily welcome them out of the fight, sending both bros out the restroom door, or through, which ever was most convenient for the moment. However, if that were not needed, she focused on Veles as he worked to make his point, his own rage boiled to the surface, his extended hand in an attempt to hold her in place.

Her own strength matched that of the Lords still, but with the Wildfire, there still was some power behind his abilities, but not so much that Tiamat was outmatched. She pushed back against his hold, the dark side twisting to her command, the temperature dropping as she pulled piss-sink and its neighbors, breaking them from the walls. Pipes sprayed water (and probably mixed with Altair's pee) between herself and Veles and Tiamat pushed, the water freezing and sending jagged pieces of ice (maybe pee too) at the Sith Lord.

If he dodged, she would continue to follow or counter depending on his next steps, she was not going to let him leave or submit.

Aadya had made it to the bar without much issue, switching from the clear liquor she'd been drinking earlier to something much darker. The bartender brought her four fingers of Corellian whisky, no ice - just the way she liked it.

As she turned around, Aadya was met with her friend Sol offering her some beef in a bag. Not the exact kind of meat I was looking for tonight, Sol, she said jokingly before taking out some of the jerky. But I am feeling a little hungry.

Turning to Ailis, Aadya flashed her a smile while the girl talked a mile a minute. Popping the jerky into her mouth, Aadya chewed rapidly, chasing it down with some of her drink before answering all of the girl's questions.

My name's Aadya, nice to meet you Ailis. She said while raising up her hand and looking at it. Oh, it still hurt. Just not enough to matter. Aadya ran her finger over where the ring had once been, the skin there almost already healed over as if nothing even happened. And nahh, let me buy you one!

Motioning to the bartender, Aadya ordered another whisky and slid it to Ailis. She went back to sipping at her drink, her eyes scanning around and.. suddenly noticing Altair and Cairo come... tumbling out of the restroom.

Jesus fucking Christ.

She took the hit somewhat, but it seemed the woman had still not learned her lesson. She pushed back, and he truly couldn't understand why she was this passionate about hating drugs. He defended himself, of course, and when it was clear that she was not going to back down, he resolved to go straight for the jugular. Altair rose to his defense but was lead outside by Cairo, which was a bit disappointing.

As the Champion in front of him concentrated on tearing chunks of the building off, he did something simpler, faster. From his extended hand, he released a raging jet of green flame, the inferno streaking through the air and covering the distance fast. It would catch her while she was focused on the sink and make her drop it--even if she managed to do it, the fire would melt the ice coming his way, so he would definitely not get pissed on today.

If the flames hit, he'd keep pushing until she collapsed, whether or not that meant she was still alive. He hadn't started the fight, but he'd end it.

Vahliri ran her hand a few times through her hair, fixing the thick locks and curls back into place along her shoulders as she walked through the crowds. The half-Sephi couldn’t deny feeling a bit of lingering irritation from her fight with Aadya, and it was reflected in the scowl that was still plastered across her lips and the tenseness in her shoulders.

Nevertheless, the half-Sephi made no attempt to continue the conflict with the Firrerreo for the time being. Her honeyed eyes scanned the dancefloor, half-expecting to see Altair breakdancing or him and Cairo having a dance-battle in the middle of the chaos that was ensuing only a few moments ago.

Before she could spot the two of them, Vahliri’s attention was drawn to Malou - spotting the Miralukan moving in her direction. The half-Sephi turned to face her, the scowl fading from her lips and replaced by a small smile. “Oh, yeah..” She gave a small shrug, smoothing out her dress. Despite the burnt bits, the half-Sephi was pretty sure she still looked like a stunner. “I’m fine. Girl had it coming.” She grumbled, glancing back towards the bar were Aadya presumably was.

She shook her head, brushing aside the thought. “So, did you ever steal that dance with Veles?” The half-Sephi’s lips tugged a bit wider, knowing full-well that the MIralukan was looking forward with drawing the Sith Lord onto the floor.

Before she could say anything else, Vahliri’s attention was drawn towards the sight of Cairo and Altair suddenly emerging from the men’s bathroom off in her peripheral vision - the Morellian clinging to the Tiefling’s back while Altair charged ahead. She blinked a few times, a look of confusion brushing across her expression.

Without a word, Vahliri reached back and grabbed Malou by the wrist - dragging the Miralukan along as she began to make her way over to the other two Aco-squad members. The half-Sephi walked right up to them, an eyebrow arching as her eyes flicked between them. “The hell happened with you guys?” She asked, completely ignoring the burns on her legs and her charred dress.

Sol good-naturedly elbowed Aadya's and waggled his eyebrows with a smirk at her quip, glad she took the bag. Snacks usually fixed things, right? Sol gave an enthusiastic shaking hand gesture to show his approval of getting back to party time. He turned to stare at Ailis as she vomited a string of words at the Firrerreon like she'd just met a celebrity face to face. Which she kind of had, Aadya was cool as fuck. He was pretty sure she'd introduced Sol in the middle of it all but he chose to ignore that bit.

Instead he spotted a droid bartender and got them to bring over some kind of cheap whiskey for himself with quick-fire signs using his free hand, the glass passed over without a word in exchange for a chit. He was just getting to sipping it when Cairo and Altair both careened out of the bathroom like the galaxy's weirdest rodeo. Sol swallowed the whiskey wrong and quietly coughed into his hand for a few seconds. He leaned sideways as if that would help him see what the hell was going on. Lots of banging and weird lights, flaring power in the Force. Again.

Sol went back to sipping his drink and promptly did not investigate further. Just from the Force alone, it was waaayyy out of his league. He about walked forward to see if the two acolytes were alright but it looked like Altair's uh... Friend who gave him bedroom eyes? Well, Vahl and Malou were like, right there, so they'd be fiiiiine probably? Sol decided to bring them snacks later at their dorm or check on them with less of a crowd. They were cool but he was also pretty sure that bathroom was on fire. And glowing green. No thanks. Sol was brave, not stupid.

For now, he stuck to chilling with Aadya and the cute, talkative Ailis, and tentatively watched over where the others and the burning bathroom were. Y'know, just in case something fucking exploded next.

Altair thought for sure he was going to truck the ginger sith lord or whatever the hell she was nowadays. However, he felt a sudden weight on his back in the form of his best friend, and it completely shifted the trajectory. In the end, he comically charged right past the woman and darted out into the club area. As soon as Altair cleared the bathroom, he slipped on some mystery liquid on the floor and crashed towards the floor. However, since the Force was supercharged through his fists, his landing caused deep cracks and fissures in the ground with his fall. Cairo would end up plopping on his back, right as the girls ran towards them.

The tiefling quickly got to his feet, helping Cairo up if needed before glancing back towards the bathroom, “Bro he’s my master! I can’t just ditch him!” He called out, now hearing some explosions in the distance and seeing a green hue that suggested that Veles was using magick. Altair hesitated from going in that direction, his brain swimming with a thousand dissonant thoughts.

He looked back when Vahliri addressed them, his glazed over stare taking in sight of her shorter dress, “...Did you change?” He was staring at her legs. Were those burns? What the hell happened out here??

He created fire from nothing, a quick maneuver, one she was familiar with in her experiences. She left the sinks be, swiftly moving out of the trajectory of the flames. The waves of darkness crashed against her body as she twisted them to her command and a shimmering spherical barrier formed around Veles, trapping his green fire with him. It would engulf the Sith Lord with it having no where else to go. The air would burn if he tried to inhale, his own body would protest as the oxygen would quickly be depleted.

Tiamat would hold the barrier as long as she could, or at least until his injuries would be too much to handle and fall into unconsciousness. If somehow he found his way out, she would follow up with another attack, poised and ready, the darkside was her's to command. He clearly did not see the wrongdoing in his actions, she did not want to think who else in the Empire started using Wildfire because of him. This would only cripple the efforts of the Empress and to see him act with such negligence, it needed to be dealt with immediately.

Ailis took a breath after barraging the lady with questions. She had no idea if she was embarrassing herself or not but the fangirling seemed to at least not get at negative response. Everything was going according to plan, except she was making the plan up as she went and there was no plan. "Sorry, I get talkative when I'm excited," She brushed her earlier outburst of. She was calm, cool, collected. Not really.

Something flashed in her peripheral vision which reminded her of Sol and the arm around her waist. She made a few gestures at him with her hand as things clicked in her mind. <Do you sign?>.

She accepted the shot from Aadya with a sheepish grin. "You can, but the price is a dance." She shot at Aadya with a wink before knocking back the shot. Gliding away from the bar, she would gently try to pull Aadya away from the bar, her back to the bathroom. She missed the commotion but caught Aadya's exclamation.

"Who's Jesus and is Christ hot?" She asked as she tugged her towards the dance floor. She wasn't sure if Sol would be joining them or not, or even if Aadya was willing to dance. She flashed a quick hand gesture to him to say she would be right back.

As they danced, Ashla felt herself unwind, relax a little. Whoever said that dancing was a good stress reliever had been right. Sure, it wasn't as good as doing a thousand repetitions of your favorite kata, but that would be rather odd to do at a time like this. Though given everything that was going on at the party, who knew.

"Are you from Taris," she asked Trace, ignoring the pulses of power she felt close by but decided she did not want to worry about, "or one of the other academies?" The moment she asked the question she wanted to bite her tongue off. Everyone knew Taris was one of the worst academies in the empire, filled with literally the worst the Sith had to offer. So suggesting that Trace might be from Taris was probably a little too close to an insult. "I mean I haven't seen you on Serenno or Dormund Krass, so just curious." Yes, name drop the two most prestigious academies and the fact that you've been there when trying to remedy the situation, that totally won't make you seem like a pretentious show-off.

"Ahh, fuck it. I've never been good at small talk. You want a drink? Let's get a drink, maybe then you'll stop calling me ma'am." That one she was sure would come across as a joke, and for good measure she added a wink at the end.

He really didn't like this chick. She grew more irritating by the moment, his movements more and more fueled by his anger and rising hate toward whoever the narc was. She chose to abandon what she was doing and step aside, and Veles just stopped the attack once it didn't hit. There was no point in expending more energy by curling the fire around to try and catch her. It was good that he did, because the barrier she formed around him would have been very inconvenient.

Unfortunately, the sphere captured the tail end of the flames, and as they crept up his hands and arms, he tapped into the already-cold aura of the room, the air around him turning icy with ease, dissipating anything else that remained. Veles focused solely on the cryokinesis, fueled by the desperate need to get the flames down before they consumed him. His hands were in agonizing, burning pain, but that was something he'd feel when the adrenaline wore off. At least he'd chosen one of the more fire retardant materials to wear, which ensured the leather trenchcoat cracked and warped but didn't catch fire.

He stepped forward but almost fell. Veles raised his hands protectively in front of his body, mustering up what strength he had left to wrap it protectively around himself. If he couldn't go on the offensive, he could regroup until his strength returned. He had no idea about any averse effects to Wildfire because he hadn't taken it before tonight, so he had no idea why she was so hellbent on killing him. He'd just gotten a bunch of vials from a Hutt and decided to give it a spin before he got to work trying to reverse engineer it. People did drugs sometimes.

But more importantly, where the fuck was Altair? Was he okay? A million possible outcomes raced through his mind, each one wondering if the Acolyte was in trouble and that's why he hadn't returned. He needed to get out of here and find him.

"Why the fuck won't you stand down?" he spat through gritted teeth. She clearly had a deathwish, and their little display she had instigated could result in the destruction of the entire banquet hall if they didn't stop. A fire had been set outside, and now there were two Sith Lords bent on structural damage in the bathroom, so it was probably time to reign it in before they got kicked out by management.

"It's not ditching, bro, it's..." Fuck, was it ditching? Cairo didn't know what else it could be. But, Sith Lords had to duke it out sometimes - wasn't there a term for it? Some old, weird Sith word like Oshkosh Bigosh? No, Aurekesh. That's what it was. "Aurekesh. When they're mad about shit, they have to just get on each other about it." He thought. He didn't really have a fine-tuned understanding of the Sith legal system.

As he tumbled outside, he watched Vahliri and Malou start to approach them. "Oh shit, dude. I'm gonna dance with Malou. You good?" They had successfully avoided the dreaded Piss Sink. Perhaps the night could turn out for the better. Cairo flashed a thumbs up to Altair, before sweeping by Malou's side. "Hey, uh, it's been a weird night so far. Do you wanna dance with me?" He hadn't had a chance to look at his phone in the rush of the moment, but the vibes were obvious. A dance would be a fun return to normalcy.

If she said yes, he would leader her to the dance floor, stopping by a canteen for a cup of water on the way. He was so goddamn thirsty. This night was having a fucking toll, and it was one he would almost certainly pay for in the morning. Altair seemed to have his own affairs in order.

After Xeno had returned the party to working order, the dance floor had steadily refilled with bodies. Again, music boomed around them. And hopefully whatever happened in the bathroom wouldn't spill over to the main party. Cairo decided to ignore it, as he turned towards Malou, tuning out the noise in his mind to focus on the present. She looked beautiful tonight. And he had always wanted to dance with her.

Yeah, I am, she said, sensing a whole lot of anxiety from Ashla as soon as she asked it. It took her a moment to connect what it was about. I like to think that I can excel wherever I am, she said. She was fighting to finish top 10% of her class for this exact reason.

She tried not to take offense at any of it, but she felt a little bit of a need to prove herself. Any time she was around people of higher ranks it was its own kind of audition. Graduating an academy was good, but graduating as an actual apprentice showed that you had enough skill to merit someone else's attention.

You know, I'd love a drink, she said, deciding that might be exactly what she needed to help wash down some of this evening.

Oh, I can stop calling you ma'am... uh... Ash... la? she said, not because she didn't know the woman's name but because she wasn't sure she was really allowed to call her that. Call it beaten into her, but calling the instructors at the Academy by the first name would be an absolute "no." She felt a little weird doing it here.

Anyway, this is my first one of these parties that I've been to. Too busy studying. Are they always this... wild? she asked, heading to the bar and ordering something frilly and fruity for herself.
