Born the bastard child of a Serenno noble, she was discarded before she was even born, her mother tossed out and ignored by the man who saw them as little more than an inconvenience. Her mother was ultimately taken in by a woman named Maighdin, who ran a crew of beggars, but was secretly a follower of the Sith Eternal. Zarine was raised by her as much as her mother, and learned from her not only the ways of the Dark Side, but also the knowledge to survive in Serenno's underworld. Upon Maighdin's death she inherited her small crew of beggars, little more than three homeless children at the time, but her goals were larger than Maighdin's ever were, to secretly build up a base of power on Serenno, establishing the planet as a secret haven for the followers of the Eternal.
Biography
Zarine was born out of an affair between the youngest son of the House of Bashere, a minor noble family on Serenno, and Sheriam, a maid that worked on their estate. Her father kicked her mother out when she informed her of her pregnancy, and was never again involved in their lives. Sheriam was hard pressed to find work, the dismissal from the employ of a noble family, even one as bereft of influence as Bashere, was enough to close almost all doors. She was finally taken in by a woman named Maighdin, who worked at a small shelter on the outskirts of the Aparian Wastes. What Sheriam didn't know was that Maighdin was also secretly a Sith Eternal, who prayed on women like her. In secret Maighdin ran a small crew of beggars who gathered information for her, and Sheriam and her unborn child could be of great use to her. A few months after Zarine's birth she was handed to one of the beggars, and paraded around as her starving child, earning her a larger payday than any beggar in the crew had in a long time. People were simply more sympathetic towards a child. This would have gone on for much longer, if not for the fact that an outburst during a tantrum revealed Zarine's strength in the Force.
From that day on Sheriam and Zarine became part of Maighdin's inner circle. She had decided to train Zarine, and was smart enough to know that having Sheriam on her side would just make it easier. Zarine was trained from the a very young age, in the ways of the Force, in the ways of running a clandestine business, and in the art of surviving in a world that would kill her if it knew who she was. She began helping Maighdin recruit by the time she was fifteen, and by the time her mother passed away a couple of years later she was more or less running the more mundane parts of her operation. Maighdin still controlled the information network, but Zarine collected the day's gathering and look after the beggars. When Maighdin passed away, almost seven years later, Zarine simply took over.
But over the course of the years, having learned all the ins and outs of Maighdin's business, Zarine had realized the true potential of the network, and just how much she could achieve with it. She set about coming up with a plan, a plan to expand her operations and set up an information network that might one day help her set up a shadow government on Serenno, one utterly loyal to the Sith Eternal.
Personality & Traits
Patient, observant, and sharp, she is a meticulous planner and cautious in everything she does. She always has a plan and rarely does anything without a reason. She is also loyal, protecting those who are loyal to her and not making them take risks she would not take herself. But she is also brutal when handing out retribution and justice, be it to her enemies or her allies.
Powers & Abilities
Zarine is a smart and determined young woman, quick on the uptake and sharp as a knife. Having spent years as a beggar all over Serenno, she has learnt how to move without attracting attention, to blend into her surroundings, and to hear without being noticed. She has also developed a knack for making sense of all the information that is brought to her every day and filtering out the useful from the junk and shelving away that which may some day serve a purpose.
She is well trained in the ways of the Force, though she was never trained to use a blade, and as such is completely useless with a lightsaber. She is mostly proficient with the more mental aspects of the Force, using it to sense when she is being lied to, if anyone means to do her harm, and try to glean the emotions and intentions of those around her.
