It had been a calm evening on Tython; the light of the sun had all but faded and the stars were shining fiercely in a configuration that was breathtaking in its natural beauty. It was a shame that the Jedi, arch-enemies of the Empress and the Dark Lord, would not be able to hold this place for themselves any longer.

Kalladrrl frowned in concentration as his moment of solace ended, right hand planted on his hip as he stood on Tython’s surface. He was fully dressed in Sith battle armor, cloak draped about him. On his left hand was a standard DG-10 dueling gauntlet, but on the right? On his right hand was the Gauntlet given to him by the Dark Lord of the Sith. His blood-red lightsaber was ignited in his left hand, his second saber in his right hand unlit. The Force was drawn to him through the Gauntlet and he held it even as he masked himself from extrasensory detection of his immense command of the Dark Side. Behind his back on his belt was the golden crystalled lightsaber he had taken from the body of a dead Jedi Master. He would complete its submission to him here, on the next Jedi world he helped to subjugate.

Conventional weaponry was insignificant next to the power of the Force.

A half-squad of five Blackguards accompanied himself and Lieutenant Solaris through the lush garden, making for waypoints to place beacons. The orbital bombardment would devastate their temple and send a message that the Sith would not let the Jedi rest until the grave gripped each and every last one of them.

Kalladrrl Danaankarr, Champion of the Empress and War Master of the Sith would see this place laid to ruin even should he had been bidden to tear it down with the power of the Force.

He spoke, his voice more gravelly than when last he and the lieutenant had fought beside one another. It was a constant reminder of his punishment at the hands of his lord and he wondered if the rasp and descent in pitch would be permanent.

“You read my primer on soldiers engaging Jedi. You know what to do, Lieutenant.” While his voice was changed, the droid that vocabulated it had not.

"Blackguards, keep your eyes peeled for resistance and take cover should we engage."

Tobian couldn't stop himself from looking around at the scenery surrounding them. He had heard from travellers visiting Kuat when he was a child that Tython was a real gem. Now to see it in person, well he can put that rumor he heard to rest. The way that the travellers described it failed in many areas. But he is not here for sight seeing. There is a job to do, and revenge to carry out. He vowed to somehow do his part and now it is going to happen. Starting with the task at hand.

The imperial officer made sure that his armor was in place, and his vibrosword secure on his back. One of his CRC Carbine was holstered on his left hip, while the other hidden behind his back in another holster. His favorite rifle, Aggressor LRA Rifle in his hands loaded and ready. Yes, being as heavily armed as he was didn't mean that it will be a fair fight. But he didn't sign on to this job to stay safe, he knew that the day to face the Jedi was going to come one of these days. Tobian is ready. He had gone over the War Master's primer on how to engage the Jedi during the flight over, committing it all to memory to the best of his ability. He just hoped that he memorized it well. Last thing he wanted was to make a fatal mistake that will end in his body being sent home in a body bag of sorts.

With half a squad of Blackguards behind the War Master and the Lieutenant to the wookie's left as the group made their way through the lush garden that surrounded the temple. They are heading to the waypoints where the beacons will be placed. If the beacons are put in place, which they will be, orbital bombardment will begin. Sending a very clear message to the jedi that their end has begun.

The Kuatian steeled himself for the fight that will begin. That is if anyone has the backbone to stand up to Kalladrrl. Not that Tobian will simply stand back and let his superior do all the fighting, he will do his part. The officer looked to the War Master, noting how his voice was different than the last time he stood at the Wookie's side. He nodded slowly, "Yes, Sir. I read it and know what to do." He acknowledged, gripping his rifle tightly as his superior then gave the men behind them their instructions.

With such a serene night, Tythons gardens were perfect places to reflect. And Marina needed to, the news that her former master had been killed had left her slightly shaken. Though she was by no means inexperienced with grief. Not after the rebellions. Hopefully he died well. She doubted it though.

Apparently though she was not the only one in the garden tonight. Sith.

She’d been at the far side of the garden, hidden herself and her presence away behind the pillars, not wanting other Jedi to have come and found her. Good thing too, it meant she was out of sight and out of sense of the enemies, around 15 metres from the Sith team. Though they might have hidden their force presence they couldn’t hide a Wookiee and an infiltration team quite as easily, she spotted them enter from her hidden vantage.

As the foes passed by her she moved forward silently, she was glad she’d worn her old armour from the war, and carried her lightsaber with her in her left hand, as well as her csr-2a blaster pistol in her right. She had been keeping her presence shrouded away. She wouldn’t let herself be detected, not yet anyhow. Her meditation had drawn the force to her already, and she continued to hold it close, ready to act. These Sith wouldn’t succeed, she wouldn’t allow them. And now in position behind them she would be ready to ensure that.

The Wookiee and the lieutenant, they were the threats. And as much as she wanted to be alone before this, she kriffing hoped some other Jedi were around now.

Lun was, luckily, close to Marina when he saw and heard the Sith's marching. The nautolan had detected her slight grief with the fourteen tendrils emerging from his head. He quietly alerted her of his presence as he inched closer, nodding with a slight smile. Lun was glad he now had an ally to support him. It eased any nerves that arose when he was alerted to the Sith's presence.

Then, Lun pulled one of his two lightsabers from his waist, gripping it somewhat tightly in his right hand. He wore only Jedi robes and their dueling gloves, covering his hands, wrists, and forearms with phrik-plated duraplast. That simple, yet effective armor had saved him more than once on Ilum.

Lun had also been concealing his presence from detection, as he knew that he would eventually have an encounter with the enemy; especially near the temple. His near lack of armor supplemented his efforts in remaining unseen and unheard. He could only hope that the opposition was mainly focused on their goal at hand.

As he knelt down near Marina, he bowed his head, inhaled, exhaled, and re-attuned himself to the Force before continuing. He knew it was to be his most powerful ally in the coming battle. Lun remembered all he had been taught and his experiences in previous battles; and he remembered the Jedi Code. Rising, the nautolan, as in his past, was prepared to die fighting for the convictions he held dear.

Sniff.

His nose twitched, audible only to him.

Sniff sniff.

Sniff sniff sniiiiiff.

Their scent provided a clear path for Kalladrrl to trace as they moved, whoever they were. Jedi fools tended to eschew armor and it was a mistake in this instance; they had hoped to be stealthy moving through the lush expanse of the garden, but to his nose the scent of skin, oil and hair was like a beacon straight to them, cutting through the floral scents straight to his enhanced olfactory senses.

Kalladrrl ignited the lightsaber in his right hand as he reached out with the Force into the minds of his soldiers.

“Behind us!” they would hear in bubbling basso Basic with an ethereal tone to it, the War Master’s telepathy allowing him to speak their language without aid of a translator. The Sith Lord hoped he didn’t spook Tobian too much; the mysteries of the Force seemed to set him on edge.

As the War Master turned swiftly on his heel, holding his lightsabers so their blades formed a defensive cross in front of him, his Blackguards dove into defensive positions behind him, keeping the payloads of this deployment secure from Jedi interference. He spotted them, a human female and some green thing. He let his shrouding of his signature in the Force dissipate, allowing them to realize the folly and danger of their situation. They would have known he was Sith by the lightsaber bore, but they clearly had not realized that Kalladrrl was one of the most powerful Sith who walked the galaxy.

It would be their undoing.

“Jedi cowards cannot hide from me,” he spat at them, the Force twisting his words from Shyriiwook to Basic even as he spoke the growling, baying tongue of his people. The Force was with him, subsuming him through his Gauntlet, ready to strike at the fools who had come to oppose the will of the Empress and the supremacy of the New Order.

Tobian looked around as the group moved, he knew that there are Jedi here. But giving that this is their base, for now, thry can be anywhere. So the lieutenant was making sure to be on guard, ready to act accordingly as soon as they are spotted. Hopefully spotted in time. But with the War Master being a Wookie. Well they will have plenty of warning.

That heads up came as the Imperial Officer heard the familiar sound of Kalladrrl's blood red lightsaber igniting. He knew what it meant. His superior reaching out with the force to telepathically communicate with Tobian and the half squad didn't set him on edge like it did that time that Kalladrrl used the force to read his mind. No, now he has grown used to the idea of the ways that the Force can be used. And therefore remained relaxed, in fact the man had found himself praying to it here and there. He tried to let his superior know through the same means that was used to read his mind and telepathically communicate with the officer, that it didn't spook him one bit. And that he is ready for Kalladrrl's orders. At least he could try to convey the message right? Never hurts to try.

Spinning around on his heels swiftly, Tobian took a defensive position behind the War Master with the Blackguards. Knowing that the Wookie can turn their payloads into something more brutal than a regular payload of shots. If only these Jedi fools knew who they were messing with, if they didn't. Well it is clear that they will be learning this lesson with their own death as the end result.

Tobian couldn't help the smirk that remained hidden under his helmet as Kalladrrl used the force to twist his words from Shyriiwook to basic. Now that was neat to the officer, and hoped that it sent shivers of fear down the spines of their enemy. The Imperial raised his rifle, ready to fire. The half squad of Blackguards doing the same as soon as they saw the officer raise his weapon. Now they will be painfully showing these two foolish Jedi what happens to those who oppose the Empress and the New Order. Above all, get payback for someone the Jedi stole from them. Praying to the force that it will allow him to see this judgement on the Jedi come to pass.

Marina kept watch from the shadows as the wookie made to turn around, and the soldiers began moving into defensive positions. They clearly had a payload they meant to deliver, and one she wasn't going to let them do so so easily.

Grabbing a trio of pot plants with the force, she tossed them at the wookie, generally centred on his chest, though one would go low to his legs. They'd travel at quite a speed, and cause a bit of damage if they hit, but at least tie him up for a bit and possibly break a bit of his concentration either way (to block them or be hit by them).

Marina charged herself with force speed, ready to close the distance. She herself came left round the pillar, and moved for the Wookie. She wasn't far, and at force enhanced speed it would take only seconds to close the gap given how little distance there was (similar applying to the pots).

Hopefully the Jedi with her could try and do something about the soldier, or help her out if need be.

As the Sith and Lieutenant turned and became aware of Lun and the other Jedi, Lun immediately ignited his lightsaber, with it's blue light radiating around them.

As Marina hurled the pots toward the Wookie, Lun concentrated the Force's energy into his free hand. Then, he quickly dashed forward 5 meters and focused the energy around the Lieutenant's legs, pulling back with his hand violently. Lun hoped to sweep Tobian's feet into the air, forcing him to fall on his back and bang his head on the ground; and with Tobain's hands constrained to the bulky rifle, he may have to sacrifice his grip to lessen the fall.

Lightsaber still in-hand, Lun then continued to close the gap, trying to stay close to Marina, but did not utilize Force speed as she did.

The Force was with him and he was immersed in the thunderous power of the Dark Side as three potted plants flew threw the air, propelled by one of the Jedi. He grunted throatily as he leapt to his right, the two higher ones sailing past him as he depressed the secondary stud on the lightsaber in his left hand, the blood-red blade extending its second phase and slicing the third pot in half. Kalladrrl sneered inside his helmet as the human began to move with alacrity only granted by the Force.

Occupied as she was by her movement and her commitment to enhancing her speed, she would be completely unprepared as Kalladrrl pointed the fingers of his right hand at Marina, the Gauntlet allowing him to reach levels of power equalled only by the strongest Lords of the Sith and the diminutive Grandmaster of their pitiful Jedi Order. He maintained his grip on his lightsaber with his thumb and pointer finger. His attack would be more subtle and yet more brutal than her overt maneuvers as an overwhelming wave of terror would envelope her mind, slamming into her consciousness with such otherworldly force that hope, resolve and reason would be blasted aside like a stick hut in a hurricane. She would see Tython in ruins around her as a titan of terror with a right fist burning like an angry sun assailed her, towering above her like a mountain, filling her with mortal peril that would erase any semblance of sanity she had possessed.

Even should she recover in time and with therapy, scars of Kalladrrl’s attack would be cut into her psyche forever.

He saw the green thing focusing on Tobian for now and continued to pour the Dark Side of the Force into Marina's mind to complete his assault upon it.

Please note Force maneuvers coming from his right or Gauntleted hand count as Level 4 maneuvers.

Tobian watched as the two jedi began to advance, aiming his rifle the Kuatian waited for the pair to get closer. Only when the green thing was five meters closer... He used the force to pull the officer's feet violently out from under him. As he fell back violently onto his backside, the human was forced to let go of his rifle in one hand to break his fall. His helmeted head still hit the ground hard enough to daze him for a second but was better than what could have happened if he didn't attempt to break the fall.

The five men with him had already opened fire on Lun when the Lieutenant took a kneeling position, He signaled for three of the men to take a different position, while the other two remained with him. He fired two shots at the green being. Both bolts were aimed at the jedi's legs. His goal being to draw Lun away from Kalladrrl so that the War Master can finish his assault on Marina, and hopefully to distract him while the three men got to a different position with the goal in mind to flank the jedi. To keep the jedi's focus on the lieutenant, Tobian fired another two shots, one aimed for the head and the other for Lun's abdomen.

If the flanking move didn't work, well he will have think of another way to draw the jedi off of his superior. But what will be a useful manuever against a jedi? This is the first time he has come across a jedi in a combat situation. Yes he read the primer on how to battle jedi. The men and himself are at a relatively safe distance for now to fire on the enemy, and have time to get out of the way if they are charged at. Tobian and the Blackguards will just have to be vigilant.

Lun was momentarily distracted from the blackguards as he sensed the tremendous Dark Side energy radiating from the Wookie. Although he had prepared to utilize Form V: Shien, when the guards opened fire, Lun frantically spun his lightsaber, sloppily deflecting the bolts in arbitrary directions; Lun was slightly peeved that he couldn't re-direct them accurately.

He did, however, notice the Lieutenant preparing to fire his first pair of shots. Once fired, Lun tightly shifted his lightsaber's blade and re-directed the two bolts towards the War Master's large, bulky torso; he needed to break the Wookie's concentration, at least for a moment.

As for the next two shots, Lun again saw the Lieutenant aiming for accuracy, and was able to anticipate the bolts. He weaved his head to the left to dodge the first blast as it singed the feathers tied to one of his tendrils. He then quickly re-directed the second shot toward the officer as he quickly stepped forward.

Directly after, Lun threw his lightsaber right behind the bolt aimed toward the Lieutenant. He reached out with the Force, and controlled the saber with his left hand as it spun rapidly along its x-axis; to the naked eye, it was a nearly pure disc of blue light. The saber was low, and while hurled at the officer, it may possibly slice the Wookie's leg as well, as Tobian is sat behind the powerful Sith.

The wookie had far more power than she had anticipated, than she could have possibly known, and she felt that power seize her mind as she rushed toward him. She made good ground in the meantime with her enhanced speed, closing the gap between them largely, but her vision seemed to suddenly change, sent into dark visions that threw her mind off totally, making her stop where she was, having to drop her speed totally to instead channel all her energy into fighting it off., fight off the despair that was being inflicted upon her. She wasn't totally broken just yet, but the power was incredible, her own powers could only hold it off for a time.

If Lun's managed to break his concentration enough, Kalladri's focus on channeling this power would drop (from its current full power), hopefully to where her power would be able to push through, and she would finished closing the distance to the wookie, slash right to left (from his left to right) diagonally down, try and cut him and distract him from launching anymore force attacks.

If it did not, the wookie would be hit by a pair of blaster bolts and a lightsaber. Though he'd manage keep her down, he'd been dreadfully wounded, if not out of the fight.

No matter what, it would be a brutal battle.

Kalladrrl had been facing life or death situations since before these two Jedi were ideas in their starry-eyed parents’ dreams and was not so easily caught. He continued his assault on Marina's mind, stressing the Gauntlet to its halfway point as two bolts sailed for his chest, but he stepped back with his right foot and turned his body, bringing his left elbow up as the bolts tore through his cloak with a hot searing hiss, their disruptive mark missed. The Dark Side would finish off Marina's sanity utterly, stopping her in her tracks and causing her to flee for her life in abject, manic horror as compulsive hopelessness and visions of destruction overwhelmed her, seared into her mind, the struggle against it making her mental fortitude’s failure seem that more tragic. Such was the fate of all Jedi who stood against the might of the Sith and Kalladrrl felt emboldened to be fate’s arbiter.

As the other Jedi’s lightsaber spun through the air, the War Master would reach out with the Force from his left hand’s fingers, stopping it in a tight stasis binding that would hold it fast just as it was nearing his leg. Lun had not been expecting to fight a master of the Dark Side of the Force this day and would regret setting foot in this garden. With Marina’s insanity complete, Kalladrrl turned his right hand’s attention to wrap Lun in a similar binding that would instantaneously envelope him with immobilizing force, eschewing the Gauntlet’s enhancement to his power for now.

Tobian gritted his teeth as the deflected bolt slammed into the calf of his left leg. The same leg he had been injured in his last mission when it was a slight graze that only burned his flesh there. That though was nothing compared to this new injury though that has affectively left the officer lame possibly for weeks. The officer was immediately brought to a kneeling position as the pain tore it's way through his injured limb to his brain. It was excruciating, but he had to work his way through it. Or he will not be getting off this planet alive. He does have a high pain tolerance but it seemed that it will be easier said than done this time to get his body to cooperate.

The human noticed that the green being had also thrown his lightsaber immediately after deflecting the one bolt that went into his calf. Tobian tried to get up to go to the defense of his superior, but found himself back to his original position as he is not able to put any weight on the leg at all.

He was forced to watch helplessly as the flying lightsaber rushed towards Kalladrrl, frustrated by the fact he is unable to do anything about it. But it turned out that the man's worry and frustration was misplaced as Kalladrrl easily handled the attack from Lun. Of course he is able to deal with such an attack. He is the War Master.

Groaning painfully, the Imperial Officer struggled, but managed to get back onto his feet. Placing most of his weight on his right leg, the Kuatian tried to make a step towards the direction that will put him at a safe distance just in case, only to find himself back on the ground in a kneeling position once more. One of the Blackguards went to his aid and helped the man get to a safer position away from the two Jedi. Though it appeared one of them will possibly be out of action now. Hopefully.

Once at the safe distance, Tobian was still left to wonder what he can do, working through the pain to remember what Kalladrrl's primer said. Lifting his rifle to aim at the remaining jedi, though this time the lieutenant didn't fire straight away. No this time he will be waiting until the opportune moment to open fire. If there will be the need to provide cover fire.

As he aimed though a Blackguard dragged his thought away from the scene before him to tend to his wound, with obvious concern in the his tone of voice. It will do no one any good if he bled out. Gripping the torn fabric he ripped it off then into strips, making a makeshift tourniquet and bandages out of the strips of cloth.

Once his wound was taken care of as far as getting the bleeding under control, Tobian picked his rifle back up. He aimed at Lun to find that Kalladrrl was now turning his focus on Lun. Thinking.. No.. Knowing that his superior had that jedi under control as well the officer made sure that the beacon he was carrying was not damaged at all. Letting out a sigh of relief when he saw that it has not been damaged at all. He placed it in another pocket in case either of the two jedi were watching him. Though the Imperial doubted either of the two have their focus on the officer.

Lun froze with disbelief at the same moment his lightsaber did. The Wookie's senses and power were far beyond any average Sith he had faced on Ilum and the outer rim. As he released his control over the now-frozen lightsaber, it deactivated and rolled along the ground to the War Master's feet (if he also released his control of it).

Lun tried reached for his second saber with his right hand, but then he felt it; the overwhelming Force that immobilized his very being. He was stuck, standing in plain view of both the Sith and Lieutenant.

Lun knew it was too late for him. He couldn't defend Tython against this beast without more help. However, the green Jedi was prepared to die defending his temple and ally. He could only hope to first escape this stasis to do so.

She could feel it, pushing its way past her mental barriers and into her mind, visions flickering, sounds, calls cutting in and out. And fear. Fear through it all, no matter what she might have done if tython was truly burning, the force that pressed against her mind threw that feeling into her, so that she could feel nothing else but fear, despair, anguish, against for the dying light.

And so they overtook her.

She’d seen battles before, blood, tears. Too many perhaps. Maybe that’s why the wookie made her way into her mind so easily, enough there to draw upon. To send her mind spiralling down into its depths. In her last moments of clarity she knew she couldn’t bear this again, that if she had any hope to fight back against that future then she had to fight against this. Too bad then she couldn’t do so now.

Marina collapsed fell back, slowly collapsing, shaking and scratching at her skin. She wasn’t safe, this place wasn’t safe anymore.

Perhaps somewhere else could be. Hopefully Lun would survive this too.

Kalladrrl was impassive in demeanor and yet flush with triumph as Marina shrieked and started to maniacally claw at herself, taking special pleasure in the clawing. One throaty, bass chuckle bubbled from the massive figure clad in night-black armor as he retracted the lightsaber blade in his left hand.“If the lunatic moves to attack, shoot her.” He broadcast his message telepathically to his troopers and the Lieutenant.

Lun’s own lightsaber clattered to the stone floor in deactivation while he held his right hand's concentration on the Jedi. The War Master quickly stored his own blade at his hip before sharply pulling the Jedi’s fallen weapon to his hand, reaching behind him to stow it on his back next to the lightsaber of Master Arek Heldar, out of sight from anyone.

Kalladrrl stepped forward, three loping steps that brought him close to Lun, his left hand joining on maintaining his hold on every portion of the Jedi’s body before smoothly transitioning into maintaining it completely. He lowered his saber as he stepped to circle Lun.

“In my culture,“ he began from behind him, his voice rippling to be translated by the subtleties of the Force, “if you save someone’s life, they owe you a debt of gratitude.” He let his words hang in the air for a moment. “Some people interpret this as including the deliberate sparing of an enemy's life. In order to leave here alive, you will agree to my conditions.”

He did not wait for Lun to retort as he leaned in from behind to speak into its ear.

“You will take the broken one and use her as evidence of the threat posed to all Jedi now that the Sith have set their sights upon Tython. Tell them all that the Lord of Terror has come, that I lead the vanguard for the most deadly servants of the Empress. Consent to do this, and you live.”

Kalladrrl leaned over Lun’s shoulder, moving the blade of his lightsaber around to the wrist of Lun’s right hand, just below the pivoting point of the hand. He relinquished the stasis on the wrist, leaving the hand yet imprisoned, as he carved through it delicately, severing the hand in a gentle moment of brief action, the hungry blade searing bone and boiling blood with its passage.

“Refuse my offer, and both of you die here.”

Tobian watched as Marina shrieked while scratvhing at herself like an a person who has gone mad. He has no idea what the War Master has done to her mind, but he certainly does not want whatever he did to the jedi to be aimed at him.

The officer nodded as he and the other five troopers were given the order to only shoot if the one jedi moves to attack. Catching the one Blackguard raise his weapon with his finger on the trigger to shoot the helpless Marina. Tobian grabbed the barrel of the soldier's rifle and forced him to lower it, "Don't shoot until I give the order or when she does attack." He said firmly.

The man looked to the female Jedi as she continued to scratch at herself, then to Lun as the jedi was held in some sort of stasis. Unable to move. Perhaps able to speak at least. But movement is off the table. Until the stasis is lifted. The Kuatian watched and listened to his superior speak to the captive, every word being translated by the force, watching the scene unfold. The man maintained a cold, hard expression even as the Wookie expertly removed the green being's hand.

He glanced to the jedi on the ground to make sure she was not up to anything. But the man was not too worried since it appeared that what Kalladrrl did to her has a tight hold on the female jedi.

No,

No,

No,

No!

The last bits of her mind cried out as she fought against the darkness. There wouldn't be anymore from her, too locked inside her own mind to fight off anymore without. Perhaps the wookies attack would wear off, perhaps it would be soon. But for now Marina's mind and thoughts spiraled into themselves, into the darker ones planted by the wookie. She saw her friends falling, her people failing, and before her a cruel master bent on domination.

The fear implanted in her could only lead her to one response:

Flee.

In her mind she ran from the beast, in reality, she shambled, moving down back through the garden in terror and away from the fight, for it wasn't left in her now. Not today. And if she knew anything, there would be yet more battles against the Sith to come, assuming she found her mind again.
