The ride she had hitched to the Entertainment District on Ord Mantell had been uneventful. Disappearing into the refreshers right when the conductor walked by her seat had left her a handful of credits richer and Hagar was in a good mood. Perhaps later she would even give some of her extra credits to a beggar on a corner for a warm meal. She knew from experience those were few and far between. The day after she had turned thirteen she had sat outside a repair shop gathering meager cash. Thankfully, the galaxy had mercy and she soon had work, but there had been too many days of cold soup and protein mix with no flavor. She got the dregs and was expected to be grateful for them. No longer.

Hagar sprung onto the platform and made for the Main Street, holding onto her hat. It was dusk and the promenade was just coming alive. It felt like something was gently bubbling up in Hagar’s chest, like the atmosphere was buzzing. It was almost as intoxicating as spice. Although some auburn hair had escaped, she thought she looked mighty well put together in her new deep navy suit. No security guards were going to be called on her while she was shopping tonight- well, not based off of her appearance, anyway. As long as she didn’t get bored she would stay out of trouble. If she had any luck, perhaps she would even run into a new friend, or at least win a few games of pazaak.
