Well, I'm well acquainted with villains that live in my head
They beg to write them so they'll never die when I'm dead
And I've grown familiar with villains that live in my head

— Childhood —

Born on a forgettable desert rock in the Inner Rim, Vica's life was one surrounded by poverty and despair. Her parents, spice miners by trade, toiled endlessly in the planet's mines, harvesting one of the Inner Rim's last remaining supplies of glitterstim. It was menial, thankless work, and as a result the pair hardly had the resources to take care of themselves and their existing child, let alone another.

Lovers of convenience, they settled down only to pool their resources, and take comfort in the warmth of each other's bodies. The impending arrival of a child, not to mention the eventual stresses of raising an infant, made a long term relationship seem more like a prison sentence. While they weren't married, their partnership was a rocky one for the entirety of the time Vica spent with her parents, though she (somewhat nostalgically) considers her memories of home to be fond ones.

When she was of age, her parents sent her sister Alia off to an Imperial Academy on Carida. A few years later, a Jedi Master by the name of Elemia Kei landed on the planet to seek repairs to her ship and eventually took shelter with the family during a sudden and severe electrical storm. It was through the seemingly fateful act of nature that Elemia discovered the young girl, despite not showing any outward signs, was Force Sensitive, and offered to train her with the permission of her family.

Viewing it as a way to relieve themselves of yet another financial burden of raising a child, Vica's parents agreed on the condition that Elemia would somehow obtain a pair of cybernetic vision enhancements for their daughter, who despite her young age was quite thoroughly near-sighted. Without hesitation, the woman agreed.

— Life Among the Jedi —

Despite being restored her eyesight, Vica was distraught to be taken so suddenly from the only home she'd known, and as she grew older learned to resent, rather than respect, the woman who opted to both raise her and train her in the ways of the Force.

Though she showed great potential, she was a stubborn teenager: once she crafted her first lightsaber she lost all interest in training the more esoteric abilities that came with being a Jedi, and focused instead on various methods of combat, preferring the raw, chaotic movements of Form VII that seemed to be the perfect outlet for her anger and frustrations. Elemia knew she was playing a dangerous game - but taken with her own abilities as a teacher, she was certain that she could keep her student from straying too far from the light.

Living a transient life, the pair picked up various padawans along the way - including the young Khaimov Tor - before settling on the Jedi Temple on Anoth, where after nearly eleven years of training, Vica prepared to undertake the Trials of Knighthood, despite her decidedly un-Jedi-like demeanor. Elemia and her peers were convinced that the eighteen year old would pass with flying colors; the Echani master was a capable Jedi in her own right (even if her methods left her at odds with her fellow Jedi) and though Vica was her first student, Elemia's contemporaries had most the utmost confidence in her abilities.

Breezing through the trials of courage, flesh, insight, and spirit, one hurdle remained before her ascension to knighthood: a test of spirit. On the eve of her final task, Vica came to a hard, but not particularly sudden, realization: she didn't want to be a Jedi. Unable to shake her dissatisfaction with the life that had been thrust upon her, she left the temple in the dead of night, leaving nothing to indicate where she had gone, or why.

— In Service of the Hutt Cartel —

Commandeering a small ship from the temple the teenager disappeared into the Outer Rim, linking up with a loose group of unaffiliated smugglers and bounty hunters. While not the most open and accepting people, Vica was a decent enough pilot - a skill picked up during her time traveling with Elemia - to pull her own weight, and after some time spent tooling around without an employer to speak of she fell into service with the largest criminal syndicate in the galaxy, the Hutt Cartel.

It was with the guidance of the Hutts that she began to make a name for herself, using a combination of her abilities in the Force, an innate fearlessness, and beginner's luck to plow through the bounty board. Smart enough not to accrue any manner of debt with the Hutts, she turned her earnings into a ship, a small apartment, and the kind of prestige that only the best of the best could claim. It was during her time as a bounty hunter that she met a Hapan by the name of Tylas Zel, and though they formed a quick bond through their mutual love for credits and killing people, his capture and eventual imprisonment put a quick end to their arrangement.

— Blood and Sand —

It was only once she'd secured her spot as the Cartel's top hunter that the Empire came calling, pursuing the kind of secrets that only a former Jedi could divulge. For a healthy sum, she became an information broker for the Spymaster of the Sith Imperium, eventually accepting an invitation to train with one of the most powerful beings in the galaxy in the ways of the Force. Initially operating as Darth Tarak's secret apprentice, Vica joined the Sith properly in time, acquiring the rank of Crusader for her services to the Imperium. Known to the Sith and the Ubiqtorate only as Eris, she projected the image of a quiet and enigmatic woman, diligent in her studies. To the Hutt Cartel she remained her old self, eventually becoming an informant for both sides of the galaxy's growing conflict.

Motivated by pride, Vica joined the galaxy-wide bloodsport known as the Grand Hunt, breezing through the preliminary rounds with the ease expected of a veteran hunter. In the third and final round she was faced with her former partner, and though their reunion was a violent one, the pair eventually managed to subdue the Hunt's final target, an assassin under the employ of Vero the Hutt, whose body was discovered throughout the course of the hunt. Deemed the victor of the Grand Hunt, Vica became something of a celebrity throughout Hutt-controlled territories before receding into the Imperium, bringing two apprentices - Tylas Zel and Kholvar Varaxes - with her.

— In Dark Places —

Despite her status as a poseur and a fake, both the Imperium and the Sith welcomed her with open arms. As Eris, she dedicated herself to studying the Force - and indeed, her motivation to join the Order even as a front was to simply accrue more knowledge, especially what the Jedi might deny her - and training her students in the ways of the Dark Side. As a former Zeison Sha, Kholvar needed little instruction to find her way. But it was her Hapan friend and soon to be paramour, who struggled to grasp the Force and bend it to his will. Over time, their bond only deepened. It was inevitable that they would become lovers, and just as inevitable that they would suffer for it.

As a Sith Master, Eris became increasingly absorbed in her work. Both she and her partner found success as Ubiqtorate Ciphers, thus acting as elite spies for the Empire by day, and criminals of the Hutt Cartel by night. Curiously, both sides were well aware, through her own admission, of the perfidy: both the Hutts and the Sith believed her to be on their side, and never seemed to question her motives. A testament to her skill as an agent, she managed to keep both the Dark Council and the Hutt Kajidics in the dark, while serving her own ends.

In an effort to further sell her identity as Eris, Vica participated in numerous battles and operations designed to bring the Imperium glory. One such operation, known as the Winter War, that saw the death of a powerful Sith Sorceress by the name of Darth Medus. With her lover and apprentice in tow, they bested the woman by the skin of their teeth and were eager to call it a day. Unbeknownst to Eris, Tylas - known as Veles to the Sith - had been compromised, possessed by the vengeful spirit of the Darth they had dispatched.

After months of hard work, the pair indulged in a retreat on Rishi. Still oblivious to her lover's condition, Vica proposed in true Hapan style, and was delighted when Tylas accepted her offer. Carried away on the idea of marrying her best friend and busy with the mountains of work that came her way, Vica didn't quite notice his 'problem' had grown worse in the months following Medus' death. Though they had attempted an exorcism, her spirit remained firmly affixed to the Hapan's mind, albeit far more subdued than it had been previously.

With his consciousness overrun by the Darth's influence, Veles sought to take over the Consortium and fashion himself as something of a warlord. When the Imperium deemed him to be a threat, Eris volunteered to bring him back - feeling that it was her duty as both his future spouse and current teacher to accept responsibility for her failings. Against the backdrop of the Queen Mother's palace, the two fought for dominance - much to her chagrin - before Eris dealt her love a fatal blow. Watching helplessly as he succumbed to his injuries, the heartbroken Sith retreated to Imperial Space to lick her wounds.

— Kingdoms of the Night —

For her efforts in the Hapan campaign - and her on-paper victory against both Veles and Medus - Eris was promoted to the rank of High Executioner, earning a seat on the Dark Council. With Royston Spektor's absence she ascended to the seat of Imperial Spymaster as well, and donned the title Darth Umbra.

Work kept her busy. Running a clandestine intelligence organization, overseeing the Sith's assassins, and reporting back to the Hutt Cartel were all ways to deny her grief. As the years passed, Eris became less of a persona and more of a separate entity, becoming less of a mask and more of a reflection of her true self. Afraid for her own sanity - and ever vigilant that she might fully succumb to the Dark Side - she found solace in the Coterie, and devoted what free time she had to the group and their endeavors to overthrow the Empress.

Though truly founded by her former teacher, Eris found herself leading the secretive cabal in his absence, and though their cause was not initially her own, she put her faith in their goals. To test their growing might, the Coterie attacked and claimed Korriban as their own, seizing the iconic world before glassing the Valley of the Dark Lords and leaving the rock in ruin.

And when the Sith began to suspect that the dissenters were more than just dissatisfied grunts, Eris saw her opening: defecting publicly from the Empire, both to draw suspicion away from the Coterie and relinquish her duties as High Executioner, she stole the Ubiq's most precious assets - the total sum of the intelligence records - along with their mobile headquarters, and made her way to the growing Rebellion.

I'm colder than this home
I'm meaner than my demons
I'm bigger than these bones

A lifetime of determined and dedicated practice has elevated Vica to the upper echelons of the galaxy’s most capable Force users. As the former Imperial Spymaster, High Executioner, and Lady of the Sith, she once stood amongst titans and could claim to be their equal.

Now, she's dedicated her life to eliminating them.

With teachings of the Jedi and the Sith at her disposal, she is both a formidable opponent and a powerful ally; though her primary talents lie in lightsaber combat, she has a wide variety of Force techniques at her disposal as well. Her most well-developed abilities rely on obfuscating her presence, metaphysical or otherwise, and keeping her motives a secret from even the most cunning minds.

Persuasion and a predisposition for deception are her strongest traits. Unlike one of her former mentors, she has little interest or ability in illusion casting, though her senses are keen enough to see through all but the most through attempts at masking the truth. Instead, Vica elects to simply disappear. To hide in plain sight, shrouded from detection, is her preferred state of being. Not entirely surprising, given her role as an intelligence agent and a preference for her own company.

She has an understanding of Sith Alchemy, but no talent for it. Much in the same way one might appreciate a piece of music, understand the equipment it was created with, but be incapable of reproducing the result themselves, her connection with the more mystical aspects of the Force are tenuous at best.

As a high-ranking member of various groups and factions, Vica's influence - as well as access to weapons, transportation, bodyguards, and learning materials - stretches far and wide. That said, she's perfected the art of traveling light: despite her considerable wealth - in the neighborhood of 5.5 million credits and growing - she doesn't buy things simply to have them, operating under the assumption that she will, at some point, need to bug out at a moment's notice.

General InventoryIts worth noting that, despite appearances, Vica is never unarmed: while she may relinquish her blaster pistols or her lightsabers when absolutely necessary, she's always got something up her sleeve - usually in the form of a ceramic knife, adipose-seeking levistring, or hidden garrote wire.

God damn right, you should be scared of me

Looks great! I think, though, some people may take issue with a former Jedi Padawan (one who had not completed her training) being so advanced in her Force abilities. Typically "Intermediate" is a skill level best describing a Jedi Knight-level character. Of course, a quick PM to the Jedi Faction Leader, could quite easily grant you approval for those skill levels!

Either way, I think there's a great character here, and look forward to crossing paths in an RP at some point!

ps. Nal Hutta's boring. Nar Shadaa is where the cool kids play.

I took a look at a bunch of profiles and came to the same conclusion, re: Jedi powers! I'm definitely going to readjust those. Thanks so much, though. Maybe she'll have to ditch Nal Hutta sooner rather than later.

In her species slot it says she's a Kiffar/Lorrdian hybrid, but you say she's at least half Zeltron for the rest of it.

This is why posting bios at 4AM is a bad idea.

Hey, another Kiffar (well, half Kiffar then). My character Dastin is a Kiffar.

I followed the link in your introductory post. Profile's nicely organised, I like it. Cool character (=

Maybe we can RP sometimes!

I know that hell.

Also her tongue's doing something to that finger.

All jokes aside, love the character and I'd love to be apart of her storyline.

I was gonna post a picture full of butts, but someone beat me to it. >:( Too slow!

Haha, thank you! I was reading Ryloss' profile and thought it'd be really fun to write them against each other sometime, actually. Zeltrons are the best ever.

I think she means whatever special skills she might gain because of her alien physiology. For instance zeltrons have the whole pheromone manipulation ability.

I don't know why, but this character is just one of my favorites on the website, despite never even roleplaying with you. It's impressive that you've built such a great character from scratch and you bring a depth into it with your tropes & such. I like seeing people do research and effort like this. It's also clear you have fun with this character, which I like seeing with members. :P
