BIOGRAPHY:
Raised in a traditional matriarchal Dathomirian clan, Vespir was raised for the first seven years of his life as a slave. His father was a spacer that was captured by the clan, and his mother was one of the leading shamans in the tribe. Having a naturally weak immune system, hardly any willpower to speak of, and less-than-impressive strength, he was viewed by the other men as weak and useless. His father would sometimes comfort him with stories of space and the Force, especially of the Sith.
He was trained by shaman leaders due to his remarkable promise in that regard, and quite possibly his more female appearance. This led to even more spite for Vespir through the males of the clan. Up until his fifteenth birthday he was caught in a strange position between being favored by the females and being favored by the males. He was not treated as an equal to the females; he was still expected to follow the rules that a normal male was expected to follow when in the presence of a female. He was not allowed to speak unless he was specifically told that it was allowed.
One day, when Vespir was ten, the men of his tribe went to Vespir to beat him. His father stood between him and the mob.
The group of men beat Vespir's father down, but he got up. They beat him down several more times, but he kept getting up. When he couldn't get up any more, the mob moved on to Vespir. Vespir rose to protect his unconscious father. The mob threatened to beat him, and after a few seconds of hesitation, he backed down, fearing pain, too weak to stand up for himself and his father. He cried for days over it, despite the constant reassurances from his father.
What he interpreted as a hate for the matriarchs in his clan was actually a hate for power in anyone’s hands other than his. The day after his fifteenth birthday, he went to the elder shamans of the clan with a spear and held it to the clan mother’s neck. While he did this, the men of the tribe gathered outside. He demanded a way off of Dathomir, and when she could not deliver, he killed her. He then turned and beat the rest of the shamans to near death, his mother among them. When he exited, the men attacked him. Enough of his sense returning to him after his fit of rage, Vespir was stricken by extreme fear. He turned and ran for his life.
He ended up at the location of the Bright Sun Clan, a Dathomirian tribe that had been allied with the Jedi; he lucked out and there was a freighter landed there, unpermitted, and undetected by anyone other than the neighboring Bright Sun Clan, headed to run supplies to the resistance fighters on Corellia. He stowed away on the ship, and hid until the ship was shot down by Sith forces on Corellia. He survived the crash, however he had some injuries. He realized that these were Sith forces, and decided to seize this chance, and try to join the Sith.
