A master of disguise and as smooth a talker as they come, Velen is a newly-admitted member of the Sith Order. He is heavily Force-Sensitive, and could prove a heavy asset to the Order if given the chance. There is more than meets the eye with Velen, though who doesn't have a little bit of mystery and controversy behind their stories in this great galaxy? Personality Velen tends to keep a calm, cool, and smooth look to all those who talk to him and study beside him, both physically and mentally. He speaks in a soft voice and tends to accompany this trait with even softer clothing, preferring loose robes and soft velvets to durasteel and armor in general. As a master of disguise, Velen also changes his identity every so often to suit his purposes, switching from one disguise and alias to another whenever he feels it necessary. His belief that the Force is more than just a tool does not sit well with the other initiates and members of the Order. He prizes his ability to connect and use the Force, and sees it as more than a tool for advancement; he harnesses it as if it is an equal, more than just a weapon. Of course he uses it as such often, and still bends it to his will whenever he requires, but that does not stop him from his belief that it is an entity all its own. The fact that this belief angers some of the other learners and masters does not seem to phase him at all. Beliefs The Imperium: Velen grew up on Akuria II, a planet located in the Outer Rim. It was firmly under the Imperium's control and even though it is a mostly remote planet, the propaganda did not escape the icy planet. Even the small village that Velen lived in was covered in Imperial posters, promoting the government and military like any other metropolis. As such, Velen pretty much feels as you would think he would; he is almost completely loyal to the Empire and the Sith that rule it. At least, that is what outward appearances would suggest. The Rebellion: Velen resents the 'terrorists' mostly out of the fact that they would break the peace that was won slowly over years of conquering world after world on the part of the Sith Imperium. However, Velen does respect the resistance because of their hardy and head-strong personality. A strong enemy is one that will not give in, until the last man. He respects that ardently. NJO: Velen does not openly speak of his opinion of the Jedi for one reason only; he does not want to anger his fellow Sith. He truly does feel that the two could live in peace, if only one side or the other would accept each others philosophies and not interfere with their practices. But as the Jedi are his order's enemies, Velen will fight them to the bitter end and beyond, if necessary. The Hutt Cartel: Velen believes that the Hutts and their allies and assets and dealings are all slimy and, in the end, do not justify anything, especially bringing peace to the galaxy as he wants. He sees them as useful at times, but considering that they stand in the way of peace in the galaxy under the Imperium, he would, with pleasure, destroy them if the command was given. Relations (To be updated in the future.) Biography 1,001 ABY: Born on the icy, remote planet of Akuria II, his father a hired guide in the arctic wasteland for the Imperial troops that were stationed there, and his mother a nurse at a small medical center in his home village. 1,009 ABY: Velen's father was caught in an ambush by the native Akurians, or Snow Stompers, as the denizens of the planet called them, along with some Imperial troopers that he was escorting to their assigned base. A small, insignificant guerrilla war ignites as a result of this that would go on for some time. Velen was quite close with his father, and sought vengeance. 1,016 ABY: Velen joins up with the Imperial snow troopers that are launching their final campaign against the rogue group of Akurian's that killed his father and the small Imperial patrol. As a recruit, Velen was not a stormtrooper, but the Imperium was not going to deny the small militia their vengeance... or sate their lust for blood. This was the first time that Velen discovered his Force Sensitivity; during the final confrontation at the Akurian Warband's base, in a clash of Akurian speeder bikes and two AT-AT's, Velen and the militia from Espail(his village) were assigned to the defense of the 'feet' of the walkers, making certain that the Akurian's did not attach any demolitions to them to bring them down. When the Akurian chieftain sped toward him, Velen raised his hands in defense, preparing to die, a cycle of images speeding through his mind, seeing the speeder bike and chieftain both go flying away with a push of 'wind', and crashing into the snow in a fiery explosion. He opened his eyes and discovered that the 'images' were a reality, fire and smoke rising into the sky and his comrades eyeing him with a mixture of fear and fascination. The battle had been won not an hour later, the Imperial forces quickly dispatching the now scattering Snow Demons. From then on Velen would be known as a hero to his village. Soon after, however, he felt as if his neighbors began to fear him, even his own mother took the extra night shift at the medical center purposely at times to escape the anxiety of having to go home to a Force-Sensitive. So, he left. Traveling to a nearby spaceport(one of the only on Akuria), he paid his way onto a small freighter that was owned by a traveling group of actors, who welcomed him warmly. He soon integrated into the group, and was made one of them. 1,017-1,022 ABY: Over the course of the next five years, Velen earned his living traveling across the northern systems and sectors, planet to planet, moon to moon, portraying this character and that, and even won an award on Ketaris for his performance as Emperor Palpatine in the play "Palpatine: The Story of the Most Greatest of Rulers", which is one of the most longest plays in all of the galaxy. Velen learned his prized skill of disguise and, obviously, acting, with this group of performers. 1,023 ABY: Over the years of travelling with the troupe, Velen became more and more curious about what had happened at the battle on Akuria, with his apparent use of telepathy. Almost to the point of obsession. He studied borrowed books and databases and datapads from universities and libraries from all over the northern Outer Rim, all on the subject of the fabled and mysterious Force. The realization suddenly dawned on him one evening while reading about the Sith Order; in order to understand the Force, one must learn to harness it, use it, be empowered by it. Bidding farewell to the acting troupe, Velen set out to the legendary home of the first of the Sith Order, Korriban, and expressed his desire to learn. He has been an acolyte for only a short amount of time. Roleplay Development Not available at present time. Will be updated.
Abilities Velen has had extensive experience in the art of acting and wardrobe, able to disguise himself in whatever fashion he pleases and able to pull off a few personalities, mostly historical figures. He also has some skill in the field of make up, being able to alter his face somewhat with the right materials, such as making it look rougher than his actual smooth skin would suggest, and adding some major and many minor details whenever necessary. In regards to the Force, as having recently joined the Sith Academy on Korriban, he does not have extensive skill in the ability to use it as most Force users are. He can manipulate the Force to use most basic abilities as that of a well-trained acolyte, which may be surprising, such as telepathy and the ability to sense.
