Blackwell pondered his options. He was already strong in the Force, but he could stand to improve his less-than-satisfactory lightsaber skills.

"Lightsaber training it is, then, Master Criax."

Normal smiled and in his head blew a rasberry at Maniac. He stood up and from his pocket took several shiny metal objects and a few crystals too. "Your task now is to make a lightsaber out of these parts," Criax told the boy as he set them down on the warm rock.

When the boy sat down and began toying with the parts he asked, "What lightsaber form do you wish to be educated in?"

Blackwell thought of the lightsaber displays in the Jedi Temple, and knew immediately.

"Djem So."

With that, he turned his attention back to the parts. He looked at them through the flames of the Force and found how they fit together once completed, and assembled them in that manner.

Criax nodded and said, "That will be easy. I've mastered Shien which Djem So is an alteration of." When the boy completed the saber Criax compressed some of the dirt around them to make a dark ring.

"This is our duelling ring. First you need to show me how much lightsaber training you have. Come at me!" he announced proudly.

Blackwell switched on the lightsaber, enjoying the sudden change of the snap-hiss to the thrum of power that emenated from it.

Quickly, he swung the weapon into high guard, it's blue blade swaying gently over head, and suddenly raced forwards and swung in a arcing sweep towards Criaxs' left side.

Normal parried the strike and rolled around Blackwell, rocks pricking his shoulders as he did so. For a brief second the smell of dirt filled his nostrils but a moment late rhe smelled open air as he face the back of Blackwell. He swung his blade so that if he followed through it would seperate Blacwell at the knees but he was prepared to stop the strike if he saw the boy couldn't defend himself.

The Fire of the Force burned at Blackwell's knees, warning of impending danger. Allowing the fire to control him, he jumped into the air, 8 feet up, and twisted so he faced his Master, lightsaber at the ready.

Normal allowed Maniac to take control for a second to make the leap into the air but control was given back to Normal as soon as they Criax and Blackwell were at the same hieght.

Normal took a quick swipe at Blackwell's right shoulder but kept his wrists' prepared to snap back if Blackwell didn't defend himself.

Again, the Force singed his shoulder, and Blackwell through out a Force push he hoped would be strong enough to move Criax away for some breathing room.

Criac felt himself being pushedbackwards but knew it had nothing to do with the air around him. He pulled Blackwell towards him, using his left hand as a channel and then prepared a downward swipe at the boy's head with the other.

Barely putting up his blade in time, Blackwell prayed that his masters own weapon would slide off his own.

The boy's reaction was late so Criax took away some power from his attack. His blade slid off the boy's and he pushed Blackwell away with a blast of Force energy.

"If I hadn't reduced the power in my swing," when his feet touched the ground and the force of the fell echoed through to his knees Criax puased but then continued, "you would be dead right now. It would have been easier to dodge my attack because by blocking you put yourself in danger of me overpowering you and slicing your head open. Keep in mind that when fighting a stronger opponent the hit-and-run technique is better."

Criax powered down his lightsaber and Maniac took control. Talking faster than usual he said, "Okay, you passed out on the ship but that's fine. By the time you got it down to the size you had it was completely solid. Now we'll try it with something smaller and easier to crush." He held up a hard ball of clay about the size of a basketball. It had so many air spaces inside that it was nearly hollow.

"Simply get this down to the size of a tennisball."

Inwardly, Blackwell goraned. Crushing again? Well, if he wanted to be great...

"Sure, Master." This time, it would be different. Fully rested, with plenty of energy to go around. Focusing the flame, he guided it forwards, and the ball began to shrink, bit by bit, as air bubbles popped. After only 1 minute, the clay globe was smaller, only by a little margin, than a tennis ball.

"Good, good," Maniac said. "Now keep in mind that this should not be something you do to anyone that comes in your path. Firstly, because it would take a lot out of you to crush something as big and hard as a human. Secondly, killing is usually unneccesary and can be solved by simply disarming the opponent and not going crazy with the Force. Do you understand?"

That's probably the most intelligent thing I've ever heard you say, Normal said, in awe.

Quiet, you, Maniac replied.

Normal's response was a light chuckle.

Pshaw, Blackwell thought, I could crush a human. Can't be that hard. But that would never do to say. So, he just nodded and said "Ok, what next, Master?"

((g'night.))

"Well, we'll continue with non-violent methods sooo..." Maniac paused for a moment and sent probed the ground below him with the Force. Eventually he found a small creature tunneling around. He forced open a hole in the ground and levitated the animal into his hands. He handed it to Blackwell and said, "Make it fall asleep or it will probably rip your face off." Maniac knew the statement was false but it would show how Blackwell worked under pressure.

"Why should I make it sleep if it means to hurt me?" Blackwell said, and used the Force to throw the small lizard 400 feet away. "Problem solved."

Maniac was slightly amused by the boy's reaction but not pleased. He found the startled animal a few hundred feet off and drew it back to him with the Force.

"Let's say it ate your lightsaber or some other valuable object. Now what?" he asked the boy while he held out the animal.

Blackwell looked at the animal, then reached through the Force towards it's mind. There, he seized control of the rodent and found himself a living extension of it's conciousness.

Hmmm, he thought, I am dominating an animals mind. I wonder if...yes!

Struck with inspiration, Blackwell found he could control the various functions of the animal, including gastral, muscular, nervous, and waste removal. Interesting.

Lookinag at Criax, the boy responded. "Master, I believe I could force it to regurgitate the object by dominating it's mind and assuming control."

OoC: I need to learn how to describe a facepalm. =/

Maniac sighed. "You could just as easily make it fall asleep like I told you to. Besides, you're missing the point. The point being that killing is usually unnecessary. Tell me why you're any better than this little creature? Why should you to decide it's fate?"
