Brenkht wanted to ask about the technique, but he knew it would be silly to try and learn that at such a novice level like he was.

"Well, for starters, I need to learn how to actually learn Soresu," he said, scratching his neck. "I was honestly just trying to intercept your blade most of the time, using the Force to guide my blade...but I didn't feel that I was actually in any sort of form."

((ulg, soooo picky *sticks out tongue*))

[ST]"Ulg soooo picky!"[/ST]

"Ok," Niva nodded. "Soresu is all about sensing the incoming and deflecting. Its a force based form in that it relies on the force to guide you rather than certain moves. Go down to the main training hall and rent a droid for the day. I want you to spend the rest f today deflecting bolts. Meet me back here at this time tomorrow."

"Sounds good," said Brenkht, not voicing his true opinion.

Me? Deflect blaster bolts?

When I'm a total noob?

Are you CRAZY?

"Screw it, I can do this," said Brenkht confidently, heading in what he believed was the direction of the main training hall. When he got there, he saw a droid, which he could only take as a good sign. He nudged it softly, looking a bit confused.

"Hey, don't suppose you'd be able to set me up with some blaster bolt deflection drills?" His voice wavered a tad at the thought.

((Gotta go afk for a bit, be back in a while!))

"The droids have 20 settings." The armorer explained. "You set it on the lowest one first and gradually move it up."

"Definitely put it on the lowest setting," Brenkht said, walking into one of the training rooms. A blaster droid, presumably set to stun, came out of the wall and aimed. The first shot was simple enough, although it was fast and somewhat difficult to see. Brenkht's lightsaber was simply in the right place at the right time. The second wasn't the Devaronian's performance; it was aimed at his ankle and just barely missed when Brenkht hopped out of the way.

"Whoo boy," he said, bringing his lightsaber to bear on the third, which was aimed at his shoulder. It deflected nicely into a wall, and he grinned. The next, aimed at an awkward place in his stomach, managed to get through. He swore and kept deflecting.

After about thirty minutes, he managed to get the hang of the first setting, and he told the robot to change it to setting 2. This one was much faster, and took longer getting used to, but by the time Brenkht did, he was having fun.

"Setting 3," he called out to the droid, keeping his lightsaber upright.

The bolts came faster and more accurate, and Brenkht found that he was letting most of them get through, even if he was dodging reasonably well. After some time, he decided to attempt to use the Force further than he had been...instead of just using it to influence his lightsaber's movement, he attempted to reach out to it, to slow things down, like he had a few times when he was a pickpocket.

Though it was difficult to keep concentration, he found the method remarkably successful. By the time the sun was setting he had mastered deflecting bolts all the way up to level three - somewhat impressive, at least in his opinion.

When he got back to the bunk, after having a bite to eat, he noticed his two roomates were already back. "Hey again, all. Were your days decent?"

((remember, blaster training droids are small floating balls.))

"Same old, same old." Qwen smiled. The corescanti rolled over to look at the wall. Qwen gave him an exasperated look but continued smiling at Breknht. "What about you? What's it like training under a master?"

((What do you think of the fully realized universe I'm creating? Do you like all the characters? or would you prefer less characters and more learning?))

((Fack, typo, forgot droid hahaha. But yeah, I like it with all the charas. It gets deep, maang. :D))

"It's pretty cool," he admitted, but he didn't want to make Qwen jealous or anything. "I've got a training saber, which I'll admit is pretty funky, even though I'm sure you've got one too. But it's about time to getting to bed, would you agree? What did you two do today?"

He slowly got under the covers, yawning, but keeping his eyes open and ready for whatever they had to say.

"Oh, you know." Qwen averted his eyes. "Sparred with some of the learners that need to practice a new technique, read in the library, and polished some of the equipment around the temple."

Qwen averted his eyes for a second. "Also, only the best students are allowed full access to a blade before they get a master. And that blade at your side is one of the training room models, your not supposed to remove them from the room. I'm surprised you haven't been fined yet!"

Brenkht smiled up at the ceiling, sighing. “Oh Qwen, you so crazy.”

After a long, extremely awkward silence, Brenkht froze, a little anxious. “Wait, ehehe, you were joking, right?”

"No, I wasn't." Qwen frowned. "The fines are quite steep too."

“Faaaaaaacccccckkkkkkkkkkk!”

Brenkht was out of bed and out the door in just a few seconds. Thankfully, he hadn’t taken off his clothes yet, or that would have likely led to quite a few awkward stares. He sprinted to the receptionist, knowing his way completely, and he skidded to a halt right in front of her. She looked alarmed, and she had the right, in a way.

“Look, I’m sorry, but there’s some sort of first time learner’s discount right? I mean, I didn’t even know about the rules, I had no clue – sorry, I’m just going to stop. Here,” he said, setting the training saber delicately in front of her. “There, we’re square right? Ah, who am I kidding. Just tell me how much it’ll be, I have a decent bit of credits…”

"Oh!" The receptionist looked surprised. "You forgot to return a training blade."

She took on a conspiratorial grin. "I used to do that all the time when I was your age. Just put it back on the rack you got it from before a droid catches you."

It took Brenkht a few moments to realize what she'd said, but when he did, he giggled awkwardly. "Ohhh. Well then, thank yas, madam."

He hustled towards the practice room. It was still open - Brenkht actually didn't know if it ever closed. After setting it on the rack, he sprinted back up to the room, for no particular reason at all.

"I am going to enjoy rest," he said, closing his eyes.

[the next day]

Brenkht was already beginning to memorize his surroundings, and this time, he found his way back to Master Niva much faster than usual. "Good morning to you, Master. Anything in particular we'll be learning today?"

Brenkht blinked once, then remembered. "Oh, right. My bad."

"Well, I guess..."
he licked his lips, thinking. "I'm sure it's known by most of your pupils, so feel free to laugh, but I'm not terribly skilled with telekinetic abilities. So if you could teach me that...yeah. That'd be awesome.

Niva walked to the wall and brushed her hand across it. A drawer opened seemingly from no where. "Hidden compartments, found them my second year here, their different in each room."

Niva drew a small bag from the drawer. She opened it and took out 12 smooth stones. "I got these long ago on a mission and I use them for training new initiates."

She suddenly grabbed one with the force and launched it directly at the padawan's forehead. There wasn't enough force behind the throw to do any lasting damage, but it would sting. "Grab the rock with your mind." She shouted as she threw it.

(you decide if it connects or not. and this is the test I have always doen for this skill. Pain teaches fast ^_^)

He probably should have expected it, but when she got out the smooth stones, he simply thought he would be doing levitation drills. Oh...he was very wrong, indeed.

Brenkht yelped something that sounded like “Yegaaawahhh!” and ducked, more out of instinct than being unwilling to test his Force abilities. The rock soared over his head and hit the wall behind him. After a second, he straightened back up, staring a tad warily at his master, and even more warily at the stones she had.

“Ehehe…my bad. My bad there. I just, well, wasn’t expecting it.” His fingers twitched at his sides as a grim determination set over his face.

“Okay, I’m ready.”

"Good." Niva smiled. "Two for ducking."

She launched 2 more of the stones, though these were going slower so they would sting slightly less when they connected.

Meanwhile she grabbed the original rock and pulled it back around the padawan, back to her hand.

Brenkht wasn’t horribly unexperienced with his telekinetic abilities, but he wasn’t exactly a talent either. As the stones came to him, he stood unflinching, more out of determination than self-confidence. He felt the Force flow through him as he moved a hand in a horizontal motion, focusing with all his wi-

“Ack!”

One of the stones hit his knee, making him lunge instantly towards it. It didn’t hurt too much, but it still stung. He was upset for a while, until he realized…one of the stones, the one he’d focused on, had stopped three feet away.

He took on a look of seriousness, settling into a cheesy ninja stance.

((both were aimed for your head))

"Good job." Niva smiled. "You stopped one and misdirected the other."

She tossed the third stone back to him. Just tossed it, without using any force energy.

"Now take those three and do like I do." She selected three from her own pile and began to spin them around each other in an intricate pattern.
