"Well," he said, the curiosity evident in his voice, "What about Juyo?"

This was the one he had been most interested in, but the fact that the datapad said it might lead to the Dark Side was something he didn't want to explore with his Master.

 

[Keinushi]

"Juyo grants unimaginable power to the user." Niva explained. "However, it is the easiest of the forms to defeat as it requires a firm footing and does not lend itself to adaptation. One well placed strike to the feet and a Juyo user is downed."

 

[TheIronLotus]

"Fair enough," said Brenkht, frowning. "Besides that, the only form I'm truly interested in was Soreso...it seemed so simple and yet...very effective."

 

[Keinushi]

"Soresu is great for defence." Niva nodded. "Its only flaw is its lack of offence. But if you can outlast your opponent Soresu is perfect."

 

[TheIronLotus]

Brenkht smiled. "So, you pretty much wait for the opponent to make a mistake? Now THAT sounds more like my type of game."

He started towards the lightsabers, examining them, finally picking up one and looking at her. "And, eh...how exactly do I turn this on without killing myself?"

 

[Keinushi]

"When using a new blade, its best to hold it vertically when you first activate it." Niva held her own blade out, hitting one of 3 buttons, causing the blade to appear.

 

[TheIronLotus]

Brenkht did so, mimicking her actions to the "t." The lightsaber ignited into bright life, turning a bright red-orange. But even while ignited, it felt the same weight...as if the blade weren't there at all.

"I get the feeling this would be dangerous in the hands of someone untrained," he said, getting a feel for the weapon. Unlike other melee weapons, he felt somewhat at home with this one in his hands...as though it were just an attachment, not a detached blade.

 

[Keinushi]

"Luckily you signed the waiver." Niva smiled. "Now block!"

Niva charged foreward with a simple slash from Breknht's left shoulder to his right hip. A youngling could stop this attack.

 

[TheIronLotus]

Brenkht yelped stupidly as he brought the lightsaber up to block the attack...but it was easy, at least. That was saying something. He blinked a couple times. He'd never been very good with melee weapons, but this lightsaber...it was different. He readied himself for the next attack, going into a more defensive stance.

 

[Keinushi]

Niva dropped the blade into her other hand which was already making a pathway up reversing the previous attack.

Brenkht shifted his saber, aiming it downwards so as to parry it to the side. He grinned a bit, even though he knew he was just going through the novice exercises.

 

[Keinushi]

Niva drew back, then charged with a thrust. The point of her blade aimed at his heart.

Brenkht took a single step back, flicking his wrist in such a way that his blade moved horizontally, deflecting the blade off to the side. He raised an eyebrow.

"Not kidding are we, Master?"

 

[Keinushi]

"I never kid." Niva responded. "I am using only one blade, that should be handicap enough for you."

She drew back again. This time tossing the blade back to her right hand. She did a standard Horizontal slash, but directed a wave of force across the ground by using her foot as a focus for the wave.

 

[TheIronLotus]

Brenkht sensed the Force building up in her master and managed to send a Force Push of his own at the ground with his hand, nullifying most of the wave. His base was sturdy enough that he barely wobbled from the rest of the impact. At the same time he held his blade vertically and swept it over her Master's blade and downward. He knew how close had been that time, and he wasn't afraid to acknowledge it.

"Maybe it is, though, for a silly devil like me who has no experience whatsoever with melee weapons that he hasn't disliked. I mean, these are very much deadly weapons," Brenkht said, deciding to make a slight swing at the Master himself, a simple upward slash from the Master's hip to her neck.

 

[Keinushi]

Niva easily parried it with a downward twirl. Counterattacking with an aim for the neck.

"Though your using a training blade, and mine is on the training setting."

 

[TheIronLotus]

Brenkht leapt backwards, not bothering to block the blade as he tried to take advantage of an open spot under his Master's preferred arm, that fleshy bit by the armpit. He did this in the form of a swift upward slash, making sure not to overextend himself.

"Well, that makes more sense. For a moment, I felt that I was actually fighting for my life."

 

[Keinushi]

A ripple went through the air around Niva's left hand. She suddenly reached out and grabbed the incoming blade. Her left hand reaching under her right arm. With her right hand she swung her own blade down at the padawan's neck.

 

[TheIronLotus]

Brenkht barely knew what had happened by the time it did, but a sting lit his neck immediately. He glared at the Master, and her hand on the training blade.

"Now...I'm pretty sure that's cheating, Master Niva."

 

[Keinushi]

Niva stuck out her tongue, a grin on her face. "I told you, I know elegance. This is some pretty advance force technique, it was taught to me by a child prodigy who has since perished. Sad really. She was the smartest of all of us, A master at the age of 18, died at the age of 20."

Niva released her hold on the blade. "Now that you've had your first spar. What would you like to learn to improve yourself?"
