Telly stood at the view screen longer than he normally would have as his collection of Resistance bombers, transports and fighters that could only generously be called a fleet made their approach.

He couldn't help himself. Yavin IV was a beautiful world, even from orbit, and one couldn't help but feel a certain sense of melancholy when looking at it from the vastness of space. That melancholy was only heightened by the fact that Telly has once called it home. The Jedi Drow Venn had helped evacuate a small settlement of Utapau after the whole world had been devastated by the AMS virus.

True, the lush jungle of Yavin would never replace the comforting sinkholes of his home world for Telly, the feeling of coming home was admittedly a welcome one. He'd spent the last years on the run from the Sith and the Empire - it would be a nice change of pace to actually have a base of operations.

And having been a former member of the Rebel Alliance, it was a base he was familiar with. The Jedi had had their run of it for a time and then the Sith. But now it was time for the Resistance to lay their claim upon the old Massassi temple once more. As his forces landed, Telly made sure to urge caution with his troops. His friends on Wetyin's Colony has told him rumors of still-active Imperial war droids within the temple and of a Sith who went mad in the jungle and still remained.

His forces were more than up to the task but, still, it never hurt to be careful. He sent out his LIN mine remover droids and a couple of squads of his own battle droids as a first wave to scout out the Temple before sending in his organic soldiers. All the while, his fighters and bombers flew ahead, keeping their eyes out for any threats on the ground.

OOC: Not sure what to flair this as since I don't think Yavin IV is currently occupied? And Telly's forces originated on Yavin anyways so it's not exactly a hostile invading force. If anything they're really just taking back the base.

The Yavin system had a long history and its dozens of planetoids made the skies a unique sight to behold. The droid was glad to experience first hand the star scape. More importantly, they looked forward to cultivating and experimenting with some of the native flora and fauna that several of the moons supported. The Crisp-e-o droid had researched a little bit and discovered that Yavin 13 had cacti forests which he intended to try and make some spirits out of. It would be their first attempt at distilling and fermenting a substance on a large scale but it excited the droid as well as motivated them to see their job to completion.

Two of Chewy's own ships added to Telly Udon's fleet. Chewy's Plate, an auxiliary vessel that fed the resistance remained with the main force while the Aurore class light freighter ferried troops and supplies ahead with the vanguard. Everyone was doing their part including the Crisp-E-O droid.

"Is everything alright, friend?" He asked the Pau'an whilst preparing a fresh cup of caf, just the way they liked it. They offered the cup after it was poured. "Careful, commander, it's hot." They did not want them to burn their tongue and ruin their sense of taste. It would be a travesty if such a thing were to occur if even temporarily.

Telly smiled down at his little mechanical friend. He took the proffered caf and took a deep sip. As usual, it was excellent. Chewy rarely missed. Who would have thought that with all of his centuries of experience, his network of Rebels that one of Telly's greatest assets in the Resistance would have been a donut droid.

"Oh, I suppose, my friend. The usual stressors that come from organizing a surface landing." Telly answered Chewy, even as he frowned and listened to the comm chatter. He held up a finger politely to Chewy as he frowned and pressed the comm closer to his ear, trying to piece together what everybody was saying.
It seemed that a small-time crew of pirates had taken advantage of the Sith and Jedi forces evacuating the Massassi Temple and had been using it as a base of operations for a few weeks now. Worse still, it seemed as though rumors from a certain corrupt local magistrate had made its way to the HoloNet.

The pirate's arrival and Telly's landing had resulted in a sensationalistic HoloNet story that Yavin was being besieged by a large and fearsome fleet of pirates. This was both good and bad. On the positive side, Telly doubted that the Sith or Empire would return to Yavin if it was believed a fleet of pirates was inhabiting the world. However, Telly would have preferred the Resistance land on Yavin with no fanfare whatsoever. Secret bases tended to stay secret the less anyone talked about it.

"Chewy my lad, are you ready to serve a little something besides donuts today? It seems a band of brigands are giving some of our boys a bit of trouble in the temple." Telly offered Chewy before grabbing his own rifle and setting off towards the Temple, where his men had commed a relief call.

"I can only imagine." The Crisp-E-O droid replied sympathetically. They refrained from saying anything else as Telly held up a finger. They were likely getting updates of some kind and needed to focus on that. The droid took the time to look at the same view screen the Pau'an was looking at before. Chewy was far from a tactical genius but still tried to pick up what they could here and there. Every aspect of life could possibly inspire new directions for cuisine.

Their attention returned to the Resistance Commander when they posed the squat server droid a question. It sounded rhetorical because of course they were willing to help. But the droid vocalized their answer all the same. "I'm always ready to serve." A bit of violence was foreshadowed in the way Chewy spoke. Their manipulators closed to form fists in emphasis before heading to collect a pair of blaster pistols. It sounded like Chewy was going to need more than the limited 5 shots their concealed weapon possessed.

"Here, lad. I know your shooting's almost as good as your caf brewing but there's a chance there may be more than ten targets in there, wot wot!" Telly said cheerily, handing the droid his own CDEF blaster pistol. For his own armament, Telly opted to stick with his vibroblade slung across his back and his F-11D blaster rifle. He'd acquired the rifle from an enemy stormtrooper when the Sith had attacked Yavin and forced Telly on the run. It seemed fitting now that he wielded it in the reclaiming of his new home.

Telly, ordered all Resistance droids to converge upon the main entrance of the Massassi base and the rest of the personnel to stay with the ships. Engagements with Imps and Sith were costly enough - Telly didn't need to be losing any organics to mere pirates. Not all of his droids were so irreplacable as Chewy. In fact, most of them had been stolen from the Empire on Raxus Prime and reprogrammed.

Telly took Chewy and a handful of other Resistance fighters from his cell and led them down the jungle, seemingly to nowhere. Seemingly. After some trudging through fly-infested brush, Telly revealed a small cave with a tunnel behind it. His tall height forcing him to duck to enter the cave, Telly stepped in and bade his men follow.

"You see, Chewy my lad. Old Telly still has a few tricks up his sleeve. Remember, I was with the Alliance. The original Alliance from all those years ago. I'm betting these pirates don't know we can walk right up through this tunnel and get the drop on them from inside the Temple." Telly told his donut droid friend as he entered the tunnel.

"Of course, I don't have to tell you about surprises. What's this I hear from Derek about you killing a Sith with his own saber?" Telly asked Chewy as they made their way through the cavernous labrynth. He was sure it was only barracks talk and rumors but still, he wanted to hear from the droid himself. Chewy was a free being and Telly was aware the little guy had plenty of adventures outside of his Resistance activities.

OOC: Lol was going to offer Chewy a better blaster and realized Telly and Chewy are both carrying the same pistols.

"Thanks. Are you sure you won't need it?" Chewy accepted the gifted sidearm, adding the third CDEF blaster to the two he collected. Now he had three blaster pistols. He felt like a real rootin' tootin' shootin' droid now. The Crisp-E-O droid doubted he would even need to reload any of the weapons if they went empty. The sidearms each carried 100 blaster bolts so he was ready to take on a small army if need be. Maybe he looked more the part of a pirate now than even the brigands they were going to be fighting.

The Resistance unit, led by Telly, would make their way through the jungle towards their objective. The coffee and donut serving droid switched the the dual wielding blasters over to stun. Just in case one of their shots went wide they did not want to be responsible for hurting a comrade. Plus, against force sensitives that had lightsabers they knew better than to allow bolts to be deflected back at them. It was better to be safe than sorry.

Chewy expelled a burst of steamy vapor at flies that got close. They buzzed away, mostly ignoring the metallic being in favor of organic individuals. But somehow the bugs could still smell the sweet ingredients that the Crisp-E-O droid carried inside them.

Unlike Telly, Chewy did not have to duck very much. His short stature allowed him to enter the cave without needing to stoup and keep his weapons at the ready.

"Well done." He gave some genuine positive reinforcement to the Resistance Commander. Without his knowledge the Resistance would not be where it was today. "These corsairs won't know what hit them."

The droid looked at Telly as he mentioned a story about Chewy. "Oh...that's an exaggeration. Derek is a generous hype man." He started humbly, trying to keep his voice quiet so that it did not echo against the walls. "I simply neutralized a Sith Champion that had infiltrated New Alderaan with a stun blaster. I'm sure you would have done the same. He was picked up by authorities and is probably in a prison somewhere. I swear he was alive when I turned him in. I got to keep his lightsaber though. I'm officially a member of the Bounty Hunter's Guild now too." He was just glad to have the achievement. The event had sparked a great deal of inspiration when it came to developing new dishes. The lightsaber would also possibly come in handy for pragmatic mission based purposes but Chewy expected to probably use it for chopping up hard substances he wanted to use in cuisine. But that would surely take some experimentation.

"I am not!" protested Derek from behind Chewy and Telly, as the donut droid accused him of being a generous hype man. It was possible the dimwitted Quarren didn't know what "generous" or "hypeman" meant, as he seemed to take grave offense. With a raised hand gesture, Telly ordered him to keep silent as they trudged through the cavernous path that led up into the Massassi Temple.

At last, the chirping sounds of the jungle gave way to the mechanical hums of power generators. The Temple was close. The Resistance fighters began getting their weapons ready. Telly's glowrod revealed that the cave ahead of them abruptly ended in a steel wall. Giving his glowrod to Derek to hold, Telly fumbled aroudn the steel wall before finding what he was looking for - a hidden latch. With a triumphant laugh, Telly turned the steel wall into a steel door and confidently strolled into the Massassi Temple.

"Come on lads - those pirates won't know what hit him!" he chuckled.

Funnily enough, Telly didn't see what hit him either. A blaster bolt collided with the Pau'an's chest and he fell to the ground.

If he had the ability to laugh, R5-9A would have. He still wasn't entirely sure if the life of a pirate suited him - he missed the order and structure that the Empire had provided. But there were some undeniable perks. For one, he no longer had to resort to such extreme measures to hide his experiments. With the Empire, it was a whole mess of paperwork to fudge up in order to discretely transfer a prisoner to R5's nightmarish lab. But pirates, as long as you claimed dibs, didn't ask a whole lot of questions.

And, after all, everything R5 did was in the name of science.

But R5 was not ungrateful. He felt that he contributed quite a lot to the pirate cause too. For one, when these strange rebels had come out of the jungle to attack the new pirate base, it had been R5's idea to plug into the mainframe and analyze possible alternative entrances into the Temple to prepare for ambush. He was glad he did when a Pau'an stepped forth from one of them, brandishing a mean-looking rifle. R5 fired a shot at him and was satisfied when the Utapauan idiot fell over.

However, two things prevented R5 from gloating just yet. For one - the Pau'an looked to be wearing some kind of armor underneath his Rebel Alliance uniform. That shot hadn't killed him after all - he seemed to be getting up! And secondly, were the Paun'an's friends also coming into the Temple from behind him.

Dear Maker - the pirates might be in trouble.

Things were going well for the Resistance as they crept through the tunnels towards their objectives. They came to what appeared to be a dead end but was in fact a secret door. The droid marveled at the ingenuity and secrecy of the base. But their sense of wonder was soon replaced with concern as they witnessed the Resistance Commander get dropped by a blaster bolt.

"Into the breach!" The droid yelled in the place of the fallen commander. The rest of the Resistance members needed to cover Telly. Hopefully he was still alive. The Crisp-E-O droid looked for the source of the attack with their two blaster pistols at the ready and ran past the downed Commander in order to get to cover. Hopefully this would also prevent any of the pirates from trying to 'double tap' the downed Pau'an in the process. The freedom fighters needed to still take the base and they would not do it by staying in the tunnels nor could they check on their leader's wellbeing from there.

Chewy fired four blaster bolts from each pistol in the direction of the dangerous astromech droid. The shots were not especially aimed well by Chewy's standards but even at a full run the Crisp-E-O droid's design allowed it to keep steady. The stabilizers they were outfitted with were meant to keep him from spilling hot liquids but in this case it helped them fire relatively accurately. Eight medium blaster bolts would run the risk of damaging the R5 unit as Chewy led the charge into the Messasi Temple in place of Telly, followed by Derek and the other troops that had joined them.

@Fantasy Liver

This is CPvP but I still want to use this for the sake of habit.

Chewy leads the charge into the room and tries to get to cover past Telly while firing a total of 8 blaster bolts in R5-9A's direction (4 from each pistol)

Sage stood at the screen longer than he normally would have as his collection of crates was slowly not coming together by any means of this galaxy’s galactic idiocy when it came to its idiots.

“No, no,” Sage no’d. “I said ferry the crates of treasure to the east wing, the empty crates to the west wing, so what the kriff is happening?”

“Sorry, Cap!” Chimed one pirate over comlink. “They’s all empty crates!”

“...”

Had Captain Sage'tare Baracco really undertaken this expedition to Yavin only to end up heading out emptyhanded on account of there being no kriffing treasure buried within it!? What the chit!? What the Kriff!?

“What the hell am I gonna do with empty crates, mate!?”

Asked Sage as he sat on a crate. It wasn’t much of a throne but it sufficed to make him feel like a Sith-Emperor or Lord of Darkness or whatever the kark those emos called themselves these days.

“What, you want to get in one?” He asked the same pirate-idiot. “Want to feel what it’s like not to breathe?”

“Aye! I means no's, cap, not me’s! Please!”

Sigh.

“The taker’s creed is an ancient league,”
Sage explained. “Down by the hollow pit they’ll sneak. They’ll ransom—”

“Cap’n?”

“What?” The interrupted pirate-captain turned to a henchman in a chamber filled with pirate henchmen.

“R9 here—”

“R5.”

“—Is reporting some strange elements entering our humble temple but R is promptly analyzing possible alternative entrances to prepare for an ambush.”

“Good,” Sage exclaimed. “I guess.” He waved a dismissive hand as if to suggest the cake tasted bad. “Where the shit’s my blast— Oh there it is.”

"Come on lads - those pirates won't know what hit him!"

-PEW!-

That was enough for the Utapauan idiot to fall over with no movement. As chaos and commotion engulfed the cavern-chamber place-thing between pirates and whatever-the-chit, Sage reclaimed his DH-47 Blaster Carbine and promptly pointed it in the Utapauan idiot’s general direction.

“Yeeeaaahhhh don’t get up, bruv.”

R5 made a series of quick calculations. And the conclusion he reached was that his own life was far more valuable to the galaxy, the cause of piracy, and to himself than the life of any other pirate. As such, R5 hurriedly wheeled himself behind the AAzumel corsair behind him, hoping to use his fellow pirate as cover from the surprisingly quick-trigger of the donut droid.

All eight shots almost vaporized the Azumel and the pirate fell forward, dead, leaving no space between Chewy and R5. With no more bullet sponges left to soak up blaster fire, R5, committed to the chaos and wheeled forward with his own full run, firing his own blaster wildly. If the shots from the two droids didn't blast each other to bits, they were on course for a full collision and a future melee scrap.

The Temple was possibly about to see its first robotic joust.

Unfortunately for Sage, Telly was hardly the biggest threat from the Resistance facing him at the moment. Derek and the others pouring out of the tunnel caused several beings - pirate and rebels alike - to fall in battle and Sage was soon faced with an angry Derek charging him at full blast. Whether it was from Sage's blasters or from a fellow pirate, Derek was put down. Good. That meant that Sage could now focus on...

Telly?

Where had the Utapauan gone? The guy was just on the floor? The question was answered very quickly as an irate Telly, using his long legs to cover the distance quickly, vibrosword raised, prepared to swing at Sage, wishing to avenge his fallen companion and put down a pirate for the Resistance cause

OOC: @Die Shize - saw your guy had a vibrosword. Care for a swasbuckling swordfight?
