And the two hundred years of Western aggression were preceded by 1200 years of some muslim aggression except in the cases of the Crusades, the Reconquista, and the conquest of the Golden Horde by Russia.


The terrorists who attacked on 9/11 were muslim though not all muslims are terrorists. I don't know why that seems not to be blatantly clear. However, I would say Islam as a whole has decreased in violence since their baptism of fire in Mecca seeing as they went out and conquered the Middle east, North Africa, Spain and India before getting stopped by the East Romans and the Franks.

I'd agree with you on the point of the conditions concerning the Battles of Tours and Gargliano, where the Muslims attacked Iberia, France, and Italy. Also, I'll agree with you about Islam forcibly converting the previously Christian areas of Africa and the Middle East. But the Crusades were a response to this, and an attempt to defend ourselves from the antagonistic force of the Muslim empire. The Reconquista was absolutely justified. They took our lands. We took them back. The Golden Horde also weren't Russians, they were Mongols.


In essence, the Muslims started the conflict, but the Europeans finished it. I'm talking about the period after the Europeans won. Starting around 1800, we started to severely meddle in the affairs of these weakened, defeated nations. This is the part that's inexcusable.

Also, yes. The Muslims who attacked were Muslim. However they're a different branch of Islam, they're extremists.

The discussion about the origins of the conflict between the Middle East and Europe is vital to this discussion as this is a discussion about the nature of Political Correctness. If a set knowledge of Who started the conflict is not explored then we cannot examine the nature of if it's Politically correct to say who started it, or if it's simply historically correct.

Debates often deviate away from the beginning of the topic and go into other avenues. They're very fluid. Very dynamic. The topic of the debate turned to the nature of Political Correctness in America.
