HQ - Canted Hall

The Order of the Canted Circle

Founded in 1,000 BBY the Order of the Canted Circle was once a prestigious and powerful organization whose influence and power extended across the Republic and then into the Galactic Empire. With members such as Hugo Demask, and later Palpatine himself, the Order embraces people from all walks of life, provided that they are successful, either politically or in monetary terms. Serving as a meeting place for the elite of the Galaxy, the Order was renowned as one of the few unaligned institutions of the Galaxy to survive the fall of the Republic after the Clone Wars, serving a vital role in the politics of the Empire. Following the death of Palpatine, it returned to its old roots, serving as a meeting place once more, before the rise of the Sith Order. It has weathered many a storm, and always survived to tell the tale.

Structure, Regalia and Ranks

The Order is made up of two ‘Circles’ the ‘Inner Circle’ – consisting of senior members, decision makers and the like – and the ‘Outer Circle’ which consists of apprentices to the Inner Circle members, whose members fulfil miscellaneous duties for their masters.

Inner Circle: The governing ‘unit’ of the Order. The regalia of the Inner Circle consist of a black robe, with a fur mantle and a large medal over the heart, with council members also wearing large chains of office.

Grand Mage: The chairperson of the meetings of the Order, and the ‘leader’ of the Order.

Warden: In charge of the buildings and ceremonies of the Order.

Whip: In charge of the members of the Society, and ensuring loyalty.

Secretary: In charge of the administration of the Order, its meetings and persons.

Treasurer: Oversees and manages, with the aid of Stewards, the finances of the Order.

Deacons: This rank makes up for the body of the inner circle, and they attend meetings, and may be delegated responsibilities for work outside of the Order.

Outer Circle: The ‘Limbs’ to the Inner Circles ‘Brain’.. Its regalia consists of a light blue robe, with stewards donning a red mantle, and Tylers a white one.

Steward: These members are often apprenticed to inner circle members, and are soon for promotion to their ranks.

Tyler: Ordinary members, these persons perform ordinary tasks, however they may and often are allowed into meetings, but their word doesn't carry as much weight as Deacons.

Membership and Leadership
The Order is by invitation only, and only a dozen new members are invited in every decade, making it a great honour to be accepted. Naturally the Inner Circle lead the Order, electing officers – as specified above – for life who act as figureheads for the group within the lodges. All members are required to pay a hefty membership fee each year, to contribute to the running of the organization.

Public Role

In the public domain, the Order exists solely as a ‘Honorable Company’, with many seeing its members as ‘Old Guard’ and ‘Snobs’. It is a charity, and raises enormous amounts of money for numerous educational trusts across the Galaxy. Its members often sit on the boards of school, universities, companies and in seats of government, and the Order itself runs numerous youth events on the home planet of its main Lodge. On its home planet it is a great spokesperson for the planets businesses, and acts as the official representative body of the planets economic units around the city in which its Lodge is based. Becoming a member of the Order is seen as a great honor among the elite of the Galaxy.

Private Role

In the private domain, and known only to the members of the Order, the true goal becomes clear. The Order exists to further its own aims, and therefore controls companies and governments, acting as mentors for the Galaxies leaders and elites. It offers membership to the rich and powerful, and lobbies governments several times a year. Behind all the pretence, it is a powerful organization.

Membership Requirements

Due to the high desirability and social status granted by being a member of the Order, there are several terms one must meet in order to be allowed in. Either one must be related directly or by birth to a current or former member, or be personally invited and vouched for by 2 members of inner circle rank. There is then a membership fee which few are able to meet. Should these conditions be met, then and only then will the person be even approached about membership.

Assets

As shown above, the Lodge of the Order is its main asset. It consists of numerous meeting rooms, and a main meeting hall. It has a landing pad at the rear of the building, and is surrounded by a high Gated Wall, which is guarded by cameras and physical guards. It functions as a meeting place, a little else. The lodge is located on the Orders home planet of Sojourn. It also holds the remnants of the Investment firm 'Demask Holdings' which it used as a front business.

The Lodge

Located on Sojourn, the Orders planet of Origin, the Lodge is a vast classical building with numerous landing pads and high towers. Dominated by a vast dome in which the Order meets, and surrounded by huge tracks of land, both plain and forest in which they hold meetings and social gatherings, it also contains numerous Guest Rooms, Libraries and Apartments. Security is provided by the planetary police force, whom are highly influenced by the Order, as well as the Security that members bring with them.

Demask Holdings

A financial institution based on the DSC Deadalus, Demask Holdings is a large financial firm that specializes in investment and lobbying. Containing Billions of Credits of other peoples money, the Holding skims off a small percentage - several hundred million - for use by the Order. This has lead to many theories that the Order uses banks to control the galactic markets. This is of course, in some ways, false.

History

There once was a time, back when a young man named Palpatine was aspiring to Galactic Glory, that the Order held sway over the entire Galaxy, and the great and the good waited decades to be admitted into its august company. Alas, these days are no more, and with the collapse of the Empire, and the resulting Vong Wars, the power of the Order waned, and weakened once more.

With the rise of the resurgent Sith Empire, the Order found itself further weakened, with its junior lodges across the Galaxy wiped out, and cut off from them. As such, the order collapses, until only its original Lodge remained. A new master was elected, who steered them away from Galactic Politics, so as to keep their enemies at bay, and returned them to their routes, a ‘Gentleman’s Company’, an Order of those who had ‘Performed Great Service to the People of the Galaxy’.

Numbers swelled once more, and the Order became known as a ‘Worshipful Company’, with all trace of its former, and more shadowy past deleted and forgotten…

Membership Links

Each Member of the Society brings something different to the group, be it contacts or credits. Currently through its members the Order has links with the Naboo Royal and Noble Families, Former Senators, the Sith Order, The Rebel Alliance, the Jedi Order, the Government of Zeltros and the Tatooine Expeditionary Force. It often uses these contacts to remain informed of Galactic Events, and is always looking to expand on them.

Membership

Anyone can sign up, and at this stage, we will start at the top and work down, filling council seats first. If you join at this stage we will count your character as having been a member for over twenty years, and therefore loyal to the Order.
Signs ups are simple a link and a brief ‘Why I want to join’ paragraph. You will then be added to the roster.

Intent

This ‘Society’ at the current time is little more than a bare bones group, without direction. It is not powerful, it is not rich, and it simply has history. If people want to see it return to its galaxy spanning influence glory, then they will need to work at it, from the ground up. This faction is built for that purpose, the get players working together to rebuild a ‘faction’ that in lore terms, was historically very powerful.

The sign up template is as follows:

Reason for joining IC: Back when V was just a boy, his master was within the Inner Circle and took a certain...interest in seeing V join the group as well. Deciding that having a Miralukan slave on the outside and on the inside would only be an asset to him. He began to teach V about economy, having him sit in on certain meetings, and, as a result, V grew to have certain talents and traits. He prefers to operate from behind the scenes, guiding the galaxy throw subtle actions rather than flashy showy things, similar to his late Hutt Master. He also has a talent for simply dealing with people. Whether exacting the truth, or simply inspiring loyalty, V's social skills are well known. So when the a group of Sith killed his master, he didn't take it terribly hard...or care really. Slavery isn't exactly fun. Of course the seat he occupied became vacant, and V dedicated his time to rising up to fill it.

I might be wrong on this but I think you need permission to have characters with membership in multiple factions, at least from both faction leaders. It might even require admin approval, but I just vaguely remember something like this so not sure. Just a heads up so that you guys can have things cleared up now if need be.

Link: [thread=60980]Hira Senshino[/thread]
Rank Desired: Secretary
Reason for Joining ICly:

With a career as a galaxy renown surgeon and medical researcher spanning just over a century Dr. Senshino is widely known within the feild of medicine as one of the greatest doctors of the last few centuries, furthered by her strides in the biogenetic fields of medicine, Hira Senshino is ruthlessly sought after by hospitals and medical institutes across the galaxy for her experience and skill, both on the operating table and in the class room.

After declining the Jedi Order's offer when she came of age, Hira instead got an internship at the Nemeria Orbital Hospital above her [thread=60866]homeworld[/thread]. She was soon asked to attend the Naku-Ōshan Polytechnic Institute of Medical and Anatomical Studies, one of the most prestigious medical academies in the galaxy. Soon after graduating become one of the leading medical scientists in the biogenetic field.

Dr. Senshino accepted a job offering within the Grand Sanatorium Fleet, a medical fleet designated by her people for the medical aid and relief of galactic calamities and disasters. Having been a doctor for most of her life at this point, Hira was an extremely skilled Force empath and Force healer. Using every possible opportunity to further develop her healing abilities while aboard the GS-Fleet, she quickly rose to the Chief of Surgery.

After publicly and officially being offered a position among her homeworld's ruling body the Naoru Sanatorium, Hira declined the offer and was removed from her post as Chief of Surgery aboard the GS Fleet's only dreadnaught, the Jikogisei-Byōin, effectively ending her career within the NSS. However this was just a cover to explain her disappearance from the fleet after receiving and accepting a private offer by the Grand Dokta-Hito Council of the Naoru Sanatorium for a position among the top secret special forces division of the NSS, known as Azura Squad, or Azura Squadron interchangeably.

After spending seventeen years within the ranks of the Azura Squad, she has received training in the fields of slicing, medicine, martial arts, infiltration, sabotage, as well as being trained for both sides of the interrogation table. She retired from active duty after becoming pregnant with her two daughters.

After the death of her daughter Mizumi during a NSS raid on pirates with the Orenji system near their homeworld, she attempted to rejoin the Azura Squad but was declined due to her age. Dr. Senshino decided to utilize her skills to work against the pirates on her own but soon lost hope until joining the Rebellion as a medical officer.

While she has no great fortune or political position to earn her membership with the Order of the Canted Circle, she does have the ear of the Naoru Sanatorium, particularly that of the Grand Dokta-Hito Council. Hira is also widely respected and renowned as a surgeon across the galaxy affording her the ability to cross galactic borders with little if any difficulty.

Beloved and respected by her people as a galactic hero for her accomplishments both in her relief efforts and in her research, Dr. Senshino also holds sway over the Naoru Sanatorium's medical company, In'Aku Medical Exports, and is able to persuaded them to redirect medical aid or medical supplies away from or to planets and systems almost at will.

She may not be a wealthy individual or some important political figure but Hira Senshino does have power to her name, and she uses it to further her goals both within the Rebellion and more personal interests.

I assume that the dual membership will be addressed by the admin who either approves or disapproves this faction. I will also make sure to ask the Rebellion's Admins and ask permission. I'll post an edit on this post confirming or redacting my application.

EDITED: Both Loco and Lavi have given me permission for duel membership.

Rank desired: Whip
Reason for joining IC: Kes has many many contacts ranging from business, to the criminal underworld, allowing a vast network of associates build by his father who had done decades of bounty hunting for various factions. In addition to that, he is a Sith Assassin, allowing somewhat access to Imperium borders with ease. Furthermore, Kes, under his persona, Sokka Sajax has been in direct contact with members of the Galactic Rebellion. Therefore, it is safe to state that Kes has contacts in all areas of the galaxy whether it is independent space, Imperium space, or Hutt Space itself.

Just an update, Weiss says admin approval is needed. Not sure who to ask though. But I would guess Lavi maybe? Since Faction Admin? I dunno...

Rank desired: would be Content with a "Steward" rank, due to her age. Or Tyler-in-training.
Reason for joining IC: Her father was a member of the Outer Circle, which gives her a 'blood right' to being in the order. After being tracked down and informed of her heritage, she is eager to learn more about her dad and what this whole secret society shtick is about. Also. Because Secret Societies are pretty much the coolest thing.

Hope this is okay.

Rank desired: Warden or failing that Deacon, Failing that a Steward
Reason for joining IC:

The galaxy is in need of help, even 10 years after the war much of the economy is still struggling. Fang believes that the group could do alot of good for the people of the galaxy, and wants to help it along, in his own agenda he wants to try and ensure that the faction does not become overly corrupt or abuse any power it gains. Fang is a highly skilled diplomat with connections galore and can be just as subtle as he can be flashy and has no problem working behind the scenes, in fact he would prefer it to be that way if possible. He became a member of the order when he was but a padawan as part of a mission and kept loose ties to it, but was never overly active, believing that acting through the Jedi would be more efficient. With the Order of the Circle Rising again he has become more active, trying to help it to grow so that it may help others in the galaxy.
