I've noticed several factions are wanting some form of a thread for a social gathering of some sort. Well I was thinking, why not have a thread specific to each temple/base... that remains open allowing characters to come and go from the thread as they need it.

Looking for a Master? Go stumble around the Temple on Korribon... where you can interact with fellow acolytes and possible masters.

Need to host a meeting of the dark council? Have them arrive to the temple and make their way to the designated chamber and wait for the dark lord.

Essentially it allow a place for interaction for your characters ICly, allowing for the possiblilty of interacting with characters that you otherwise might never meet. Even though he is a fellow sith lord.

I'm on my phone at work so this may be sloppy, but im hoping my point shines through the typos... thoughts?

Actually, the main factions have specific boards for that.

The Hutt Cartel currently has Nal Hutta and Nar Shadda.
The New Jedi Order have Arbra, another planet (can't remember name atm), and the pride of their fleet The Light of the Force.
The Sith have 3 planets and the Rebellion had Ord Padron and another place (can't remember it either).

For Indie factions- Story board.

I think you're missing his point here, Doit. BK wants a sorta permanent social thread set for every faction, if I understand him correctly.

Exactly Kiro, that way instead of newbies waiting for a master will have a place to post and grow relationships. Because lets face it, some new members are inclined to leave if they are forces into making a flashback thread or something similar.

The threads could very well be the threads describing said temple/base that are already posted.

The idea comes from an older SW forum, that instead of individual threads. Each planet had their own threads and if a location needed an individal thread than it would. Such as temples/bases/neutral-zone cantinas. Which in turn allows for my character interaction.

Though dont get me wrong, just because you are posting in the thread with someone doesnt mean you have to interact with them. The temples are quite large... once again falling upon the common sense factor.

I'm fine with factions creating dedicated social threads like that, where new members can enter in if they want, though on the whole we don't (and won't) use the one planet/one thread model that you described in your last post. Just want to make sure that's clear.

Which is understandable and I'm not even suggesting that. Simply that each Temple/Base is open for free reign of posting meaning that you could meet fellow acolytes, organize a training session. (In other words say Mira wanted to host a training thread, she could ICly find those whom she wishes to teach within the Temple and guide them to a room. Upon arrival to the room their posts would shift into the newly created training thread. Once the class was finished they could post back into the temple thread leaving the class and going back to the great hall to see if that pretty young twi'lek was still there.)

Or something to that effect... just an example of what I'm thinking of. Essentially just inviting more actual storytelling into the RP instead of only creating an OOC thread.
