Demo

I had recently came across, this abandoned project this weekend, watching the trailers and was "Awesome Game!" Then I looked more into it. Disney seemed to stop putting expenses into the project for some unknown reason; however, LucasArts still has the product on Amazon. I don't know and watching the trailers, the game has big potential. I also found a Video Game Leak article on Star Wars 1313 and it seems that because Disney cancelled the project, it is only going to remain "cancelled" by Disney's standards as Electronic Arts signed to use the license in the coming years.

So, do you think it'll be possible that Electronic Arts will stay true to the idea wrapped around Star Wars 1313, prior to Disney's involvement?

How long do you think we'll see the game released?

Disney/Lucasfilm abandoned the 1313 trademark. The game is effectively cancelled, so we more than likely will not see the game released. The most plausible reason for why it's not being released is because it was a big Boba Fett game, and Disney is making a Boba Fett standalone movie.

I'm fairly certain this game is happening never.

The gameplay kinda reminds me of Mass Effect, especially Mass Effect 3.

As for EA staying true to the concept of 1313, lolno. They changed the ending Mass Effect 3 as Bioware wanted it to fit their own "artistic vision", which left a bitter taste in many gamers' mouths. I don't think they'll give a damn about what Disney had in mind, really. Still, since it's a Star Wars title, I'd probably be inclined to get a copy when or if it gets released, regardless of who publishes it. I won't get my hopes up if it's EA, though.

However, if there is a reason why Disney cancelled this game, I don't want to hear their reason. The Star Wars Franchise had so much greatness come out of the novels, comics, games, movies, etc. than Disney ever will with their retellings of children stories. As far as I ma concerned, I don't care who publishes the game, I sure don't want Disney to.

Lucas should have sold his industry to Bethesda, Ubisoft, Valve, Dreamworks, or someone that has potential of keeping Star Wars up to its reputation.

Why not Disney? They acquired Marvel and the movies they made as of late have been pretty cool. Although, I must admit, I'm not sure if they've made any games.

Anyway, I just hope it's not based on any movie they're making. The usual thing with movies-turned-games is that it's probably bad. Hopefully if they do make a Star Wars title, it's a stand-alone.

This totally rules out about my comment on who should make the Star Wars games. Apparently, Disney is letting gaming companies touch the gaming aspect of Star Wars. So there's hope to be gained.

But yes, Movie-to-game video games, yeah I don't like them. Especially, Fantastic Four for the Xbox, that was terrible to play.

I couldn't care less. From what they showed us, it just looks like another over the shoulder shooter with some gadgets, the only thing that would make this interesting is the fact that it's in the Star Wars universe. A fact which wasn't a compelling enough reason to finish Force Unleased 2.

It really just doesn't look all that interesting from what we saw, and it's getting even more annoying by the fact that this is slowly becoming the video game version of Firefly.

You do have a point. If anything, this could be used for a Star Wars: Scum and Villainy campaign at best. Heck the developers showed this game with two main characters fighting side by side and noted that the game would not have multiplayer Co-op. So a campaign of two bounty hunters, one a mentor and the other the learner is a good idea if you are running a SWRPG game with a single friend interested.

It's really not going to happen. The odds of a video game losing its trademark, falling out of development, and then miraculously going back into development are virtually non-existent. It's cool to think about what ifs, but don't get your hopes up because they will almost surely be crushed.

That's why I mentioned that it'd be a cool to use the concept on a table top SWRPG campaign or in a RP forum room. Other than that, doubt is not a problem about the ifs.

Perhaps sacrifices have to be made to turn the franchise back in the right direction, time will tell whether or not Disney actually knows the right direction for it to take.

However given that Kasdan is known for hating the prequels and that he is largely responsible for some of the best work in the franchise, there's always a chance, but hey, there's always a chance everything will suck too.

It also seems safe to assume, past on statements they've made, that people like J.J. Abrams and Simon Kinberg also aren't too keen on the prequels. They've said they like parts of it, but I would imagine that's mostly just them being diplomatic.

I've actually come to the conclusion recently that I'm really not that big a fan of Abrams' work, in fact I'd even go as far as to say I don't like him as a director at all. He's a competent enough director of action, but given some of the story elements he's allowed to take place in his films (sexualise all the womenz!!!!), and some of the direction of his actors, to me he's no better than say a Greengrass or a Harlin.

I think the franchise could use someone whose a little more methodical and intellectual about their work. I really think he should have stuck to TV, while someone like Whedon should actually continue to make popcorn flicks with not all that much depth, because he ultimately makes them fun, colourful and entertaining without sacrificing or stripping down important elements of the characters involved. Those movies can and should exist.

If Abrams really does have to direct the first film, which I'd prefer he didn't, I'd much prefer a different, more capable artist to take over for the inevitable sequel. Perhaps Cuaron or in a crazier world, Paul T Anderson, Fincher, Jonze or **** it the Coen Brothers.

Also, hire Gareth Evans for the inevitable fight choreography because holy shit.

Not to mention the hack they've hired to be responsible for the cinematography.

Anyway, tangent over.
