In Regards to Phasma, if she is dead(Which I am on the fence about for now), then I'd say Kylo more or less lost a loyal follower considering Hux tried to murder him when he was unconscious. Those two always had a rivaly, and between him doing that and Kylo bitch slapping him with the Force and choking him into submission, I won't be surprised if Hux later on tries for a power play of some sort. If Phasma is alive, she would go for who ever she benefits mostly, since her only loyalty is to herself and her survival.

Much as I love her, she's a side character in this film, along with many others like Hux, DJ, Holdo, the original Droids and Chewie, and just a little more then Ackbar, Nien Numb and Maz. I honestly don't know what to think if she did come back in Episode IX just for another few minutes, I would be upset if she was "Killed again" in an ambiguous manner again, when it should be something clear and solid.

How did Rey know how to swim?
No idea, since I doubt there is enough Water on Jakku for her to swim.

Might of been a panic struggle for the surface since she tried to get out quickly. That would be an... interesting thing to her is if she doesn't know how to swim.

So, I just came back from seeing this movie, and... holy karking kriff!!
I went in sort of expecting a by-the-numbers Empire Strikes Back clone, what I got was... really something. Also, having read all the books that have come out between The Force Awakens (legally acquired, I swear, shut up) and this one, it was really cool to see a whole bunch of stuff from that material shown and referenced. There are a lot of Easter eggs in this movie if you know what to look for.
The events of this movie also leave a lot to look forward to. I'm thinking that this isn't just going to be a trilogy; it'll take more than one movie to resolve all that's happened. Or I hope so.
Will admit, Luke's apparent death fucked me up. Was really hoping he was going to be a staple again going forward, but his sendoff was still quite satisfying to me.
And finally, Brandon wasn't as annoying as I predicted! I want a Porg now.

Does anyone think Kylo is gonna become a good guy by the ending of the next movie? Or do you think that ship has already sailed? I mean he did spare his mother and not shoot her in that space battle scene.

Maybe I'm just holding out hope.

I could see him potentially dying to save Rey somehow, and with some light inside of him, but never actually redeemed.

Similar to Jacen Solo/Darth Caedus in the old EU.

I'm thinking that mainly we're going to see Kylo Ren's development as a unique character. He has found his own identity, now; he's destroyed the mask, setting aside his "Vader" persona, and killed the "Emperor," so already he's accomplished what his grandfather never could in life by seizing control of the First Order. Kylo may be redeemed, eventually, but he's in charge; when and if he turns, it's likely it will be while the First Order is burning around him.

All the while the ghosts of his father and uncle are trolling him.

That said, it'll be interesting to see Luke as a Force Ghost helping Rey.

I want to see Luke haunt Kylo. Like pop in during a, meeting or something. "how you doing kid"

I could see him doing that while Kylo is talking to Hux or Phasma's charred armor or just to some soldiers or officers, and Kylo is the only one who can see Luke to the point that the ones he's talking too see he's having issues.

I walked out of the theatre like "THAT WAS AWESOME." And then I let it digest, saw it again, and came to a realization: I saw a cool movie. I did not see a good Star Wars movie. But for everything I hated about the movie, there was something I enjoyed. 5/10. Evens out nicely.

When the smoke cleared after Luke got shelled for a minute straight and it showed he was okay, kid next to me gasps and goes, "He's a god!" Almost died laughing.

I wanted to take flying space Princess Leia seriously but I couldn't. This scene was actually just bad. If anyone could edit that scene with Starman or Space Oddity playing, it would be appreciated.

Kylo Ren absolutely losing his shit when he saw the Falcon was pretty great.

Everything about Luke's arc and character development was god-awful and character breaking but whatevs let's make him edgy. Finn+Rose was shoehorned in, but I might be upset Poe and Finn didn't become an item. Rose was the worst.

Porgs are cool. I don't like Ewoks because they're creepy and we rely on them for the plot. If they had shown Chewbacca alone in the Falcon, it'd be sad because Han is dead. But Chewbacca with OODLES OF PORGS? That's happy! And we don't rely on cutesy things to move the plot. Don't like porgs? They're not that important to the plot.

BB-8 going all metal gear and rolling around in a box was cool.

I actually like Kylo Ren because of this movie. Did not expect that to happen. Pretty glad snoke died because he was a horrible villain.

I really want to like this movie more. Thoughts and prayers reassuring Force Projections please.

So just went and saw it today with some buds and I gotta say...I'm kinda on the 'meh' side of the fence. It was a well executed movie, all the acting was great and I liked a ton of the scenes all told. It's just...jesus they could've cut like 45 mins of the middle of that movie out and it would've been waaaaay better. I was just not particularly fond of the whole arc of the resistance this time around. They spent way too long focusing on the 3 ships running from first order.

I didn't particularly care for the casino scene either. I hate being one of these people that says this, but it just didn't feel like it belonged in Star Wars. Not the message it was trying to portray I was fine with that, just the setting itself. Just felt very out of place IMO.

I also didn't really get why Holdo absolutely refused to tell Poe what the plan was either. I get she didn't trust him or whatever, but it would have instantly calmed him down and probably gotten him on board with what Holdo was trying to do. Instead there's just this forced "Chain of Command" drama for no real reason. This was honestly probably my biggest gripe with the movie as it just made 0 logical sense to me. Like if she had just told him what she was planning the whole casino trip and subsequent screwing of the plan to hide on Krait wouldn't have even been necessary! I don't blame Rian for this as I like a lot of his other movies and he's a good director. I just think the writing wasn't where it needed to be for the overall plot.

I liked all the Rey and Luke stuff, I know some don't like the "edgy" Luke, but I don't see it like that. From his speech to ray he saw and understood that the old ways of the Jedi just didn't work anymore. He wasn't pushing for greyness, just for the light to essentially not be restricted behind dogmatic codes and teachings that in the end only bred distrust and stagnation.

I did love the Rey and Kylo scene after Snoke's death (Which I saw coming, but honestly surprised they went through with). Loved Yoda showing up and the last battle was really cool. Just wish it hadn't dragged so much in the middle.

If I had to give it a grade it'd probably be C+

I'll be honest, I thought the whole General Hugs exchange was hilarious. I know, I'm easily amused.

I have similar feelings to @Mr.BossMan , so I won't repeat everything. (I was emotionally preparing to lose Finn, it seemed perfect. Then Rose ruined everything!!)
But it's definitely my dream ending for Kylo Ren to return to the light side.

Imagine waking up to find your teacher standing over you holding a gun.. The look on Adam Drivers face...

For me, it is the best star wars film of all, because there has been no other film so unpredictable, unformulaic, and I think I almost forgot to breathe sometimes...

Rian Johnson is a genius.

Oh, and Porgs are overrated. Massively overrated. Should've just left the Puffins in the movie.

Oops. Does this mean I'm gonna get banned. ;)

I wonder how many people manage to offend the site owner on their first day?... (Or should that be 'last day'?)
