Characters die. Mourn them, do not. Miss them, do not. Celebrate those who become part of the Force. Learn to let go of all the things you fear to lose, you must

People have legitimate, well thought out reasons for why they fear character death - I'm one of them. It's not something we have to "get over", and people can RP whichever way they like. We shouldn't have to force ourselves to "branch out" for no other reason than to appease peer pressure when we are already writing what we love.

Frankly, I've never been happier on the site since the moment I stopped PvP for good.

How about no? I like writing my characters (Emil and Emtarra particularly) and enjoy RPing them. I enjoy RPing my way, you enjoy RPing your way. Don't force people to do something they don't want too and then call it improvement.

No one is forcing people to PvP. It's promoted, but not forced.

EDIT:
But not with the sheer volume of baby oil we use.
Let's be honest here. It's not baby oil they use. It's cooking oil. Hutts gotta eat After-Fight Meals.

Let's be honest here. The reason Hutts use cooking oil is because the Mando's used all the baby oil.

It can also be said to not get your characters into situations you as a writer cannot handle.

If losing a character is something that you cannot accept, do not go into any pvp situation ever because you become a detriment to your fellow players.

Guys I'm pretty sure this is just a modified quote from a movie. In an effort to be amusing. Episode 3 to be exact.

Oh I'm fine with my characters losing or whatever, I just don't like them being killed unless I'm finished with their story (I feel) or their basically a PVP character. I've been in plenty of PVP and frankly there has been no real conflict.

Don't get mad or sad, get even. Make a new character after studying the character who killed you, and build them specifically to counter or kill that users character. Study their posting habits for a period of 1 to 2 months, as well as lightly stalk their ooc posting schedules to figure out how they handle situations to their friends or others. Follow their posting habits without tipping them off, perhaps utilizing a sub-account so it doesn't immediately show whose watching their pages, before finding the first open thread or conflict thread they are in.

Scour the pvp rulings of all recent threads, stretching back a period of 6 month, and use them as weapons to batter your opponent via ooc confrontations. Be aggressive to taunt your foe into ooc or ic mistakes, but not condescending or overtly malicious, and feign it as simply trying to follow the rules. When you've managed to trap your opponents maneuvers via ooc, and bolstered your own by having your character act in ways just shy of what some of the contested rulings have been, but still overtly powerful plays, make an implied promise via pm to spare a character, using as much vague and undefined words as possible, before killing your opponent. You want deniability when admins are called, to show you never outright said you would spare a person, and the outcome was inferred by the other user, not guaranteed for them to life or escape.

For additional measure, make sure you archive your character once the task is done, but only if you still want further vengeance on the person who killed your character. After all, they'll have a new character to make, or other characters in use. So, you will need to study and craft your counter again, rather then adapting your exsisitng character to face a new threat.

And now you know, and knowing is half the battle.
