On my end (meaning the threads I've been in) it's been fine. Mostly because both sides cooperate and aren't assholes. I think it mostly is seen with scorn is because some people can't let go of a grunge, a "Us vs them" mentality and the fact that battles are decided by the equivalent of a team deathmatch. Which can make battles pretty uninteresting.

My problem is that no one seems to want to rp since you risk losing your carefully crafted character to death or capture.

yes, of course. I always go for the throat. And then, after I kill your character, I have my characters eat their discarded corpse.

Last PvP I was in went pretty fine. We had like one major dispute and it was resolved cooperatively in the end

PvP issues are still the same as they were last timeline, but PvP is the focus of this present timeline, so the issues are now in the forefront. My only real gripe with PvP now is that it takes the flare out of what combat has been in Star Wars canon. I love realistic combat as much as the next tournament fencer, but part of the joy that is fighting in Star Wars is the swashbuckling/wuxia feel you get from it.
