Small Squad Based Military SF RP?

Hi.

As some of you may or may not have seen by now (most likely not) I'm looking for some military based RP, placing particular emphasis on a smaller unit with 3-6 others that are looking to explore the bond that characters form when they constantly have to rely on each other and frequently find themselves in relative seclusion with one another. Furthermore, expanding upon the stress that combat has on the unit, the psychological, economic, social, and political effects of war and how they influence the characters.

I would really like to see the squad grow and flourish, I'd like to see them make a name for themselves in their respective faction. On that note, I'm not picky, I currently have a Imperial Commando, but am willing to create a character in the Rebellion if there are more people interested in something like this there.

In short, I'm not looking for a side project or something that will just take place for a few missions before it dies down. I'm looking to be a part of a team or writers that are willing to commit to the story and progression of these characters.

Maybe... Like I don't have the time for full PCs across all kinds of stuff, but would a recurring NPC work?

EDIT: It would basically be a PC for fun, but that way I'm not really taking up a PC slot, and they're fun to write.

To be completely honest, I haven't completely wrapped my head around all the rules and how things work on the site here. What I'm interested in is doing some writing, and hopefully contributing to the story here at thestarwarsrp.

So whether you call it a PC or an NPC, I'm not really sure what the difference is in terms of forum RP, story telling, and creative writing. In the thread I linked above, my friend and I are both controlling two characters that are a part of a squad belonging to the Republic Special Forces in the Old Republic era.

The reason I'm posting an Interest Check is because from browsing the site and looking at both the Sith Imperium and the Rebellion factions, I haven't really seen any systems in place that facilitate what I'm looking for. Soldiers that join the Imperial Army are all roped into the same squad which is kind of weird to me. I understand that it has to be done because there aren't enough of each sub-type of Trooper to have a unit for each specialty, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for in particular. And it seems like the Rebellion is going through a lot of organizational changes for the time being.

Not sure if I answered your question. Basically, I'm just looking for people to co-write some special forces military RP controlling a handful of characters. If we have one person for each character, that's awesome. If not, I'm cool with that too and you can call them PCs or NPCs, whatever you want. I'm not sure what relevance it really has to the website and the rules. I know you're only allowed to have six PCs, but again, I'm not really sure what exactly that means...

I'm up for it. I've always loved doing things like this because no one else realises the soldier's struggle, and I always found it a compelling story.

Oh, and PCs (Player Characters) are considered superior and more usable than NPCs (Non-Player Characters)

@Sin hey are you interested in having a competition I am forming a strike team consist of Jedi and rebels about 6 people 3 Jedi and 3 rebels if your interested in having a match between the two I am sure we can work on it together

I'm not particularly fond of writing Force-user RP now-a-days, have burnt myself out on it over many many years among other issues I have with it. I personally won't be writing any Force-users, but I'll happily write any soldiers or troopers.

Hmmm sin I'd totally be willing to make a new character and join you for this. I've always wanted to make a demo expert style soldier and I think it could work for this.

Also if you don't feel like joining a faction the squad could always just be independent mercenaries. Work for who hires us, be it the imperium or the rebels or hell even the hutts.

No doubt, though I think there would be more opportunity for continuity and more purpose for the squad if they believed in what they were fighting for outside of just trying to make a few credits. It is my belief that you get the most passionate and dedicated warriors and soldiers when they can identify with what they're fighting against. It might also make their role more meaningful in the long run.

But who knows, they could start out as mercenaries and end up joining a faction for whatever reason, it could all be a part of the story and the progression there of. Like I said, I'm open to ideas, but first I just want to see who is interested in making something like this happen.

I think you're on the right track though Topher, this is exactly what you're looking for if you're looking to RP a specialized trooper of sorts that has an emphasis on something like demolitions, slicing, communications, combat medic, etc...

My thoughts precisely . I freaking loved Republic Commando, and setups like it. I'd make a character for this

Yeessss. Loving this idea. If it ends up an Imperial squad/team, I'd be happy to throw my Stormie, Isaac Stover, into this. He's a Strike Trooper that specializes in demolitions.

I meant that if your team is imperium would you like to fight my team, a sort of skirmish between the imperium and the rebels not sure if my messages wasn't clear. I am pretty bad at writing anyway good luck on your squad I really dig the idea just don't have the time to commit to another character

I'm not really into the mercenary or indie faction idea, I think a Rebel or Imperial commando squad has strong potential. I'd especially be into the whole "squad life" deal, beyond just doing missions, hence "The Unit" reference. It would be interesting to make it a sort of non-traditional, Delta style team that can do more than just straight kick in doors. Civvie up, grow a beard and hit the bars in Havana type of work.

Whilst I cannot make a character for this, I would be more than happy to provide jobs for them, or even to provide an antagonist/middle man in the form of my Hutt for this team of folks.
This looks really good, and I think with work, it would be a great RP team for the site.
