I did not say that the majority of my ships were in such a state, nor have you mentioned it until now. So if that really was a term you should really have stated it at the time.

And loads of stuff was happening, just not between the republic and Alsakans. You can't expect everyone to agree no time is passing because no major battles are occurring.
It would make sense for them not all to be immediately useful as they were arising from a period of peace and you don't need a large military during a period of peace. Especially when no threats are expected. Plus, I thought it was more even and that if you had 900 ships, they wouldn't all be useful as that would seriously advantage the Republic.

If nothing important is happening, then why would time pass? And why would it take months for someone to step up as an interim leader?

No threats? The Alsakans are a threat as this is like the 4th time they have had a war with the Republic, they would have a standing military and it would be a big one.

Yes but I was fairly certain that they happened over long enough periods of time that the Republic would have been unexpectant of an Alsakan attack. Otherwise, how would the timeline have even had a chance of being fair if there wasn't even the Alsakan advantage of surprise and initial superiority?

That is why we started off the timeline with the Alsakan's taking Coruscant, the center of the galaxy would of been a fairly good point to start from for most factions but...well it didn't go well.

I blame everyone but Calist, his masterful blitzkrieg tactic was so brilliant no one got it.

Oh I see: it's just like McCain - "I got him right where I want him."

The Republic has a military. The fleets are spread far across the galaxy but there's still there. And it doesn't take that long for them to be moved.

And when they get moved they leave planet after planet open to local fueds, pirates and all the other crap that goes on in a galaxy.

Why do you think the empire had so much trouble fighting the rebellion? Because it couldn't bring its fleet to bear. It was too busy peacekeeping.

This would be a similar situation.

The Republic military wouldn't be busying itself with peace keeping, that's what the local planetary police forces are for.

You don't see Soldiers patrolling America making sure that nothing happens within the country, 'cuss that's not their job. Planets have planetary defenses which act as the big policing forces. The military wouldn't involve themselves unless something major happened. It would be similar to the US calling in the military to keep domestic order.

The empire was a oppressive empire, the planets of the Republic have chosen to join the republic.

and in the new republic, they spent half their time trying to kill each other.

You're point?

The republic fleet had to do peacekeeping work in New Republic times, I don't see why it would be different here.

Because this isn't the new republic.

A government trying to establish itself always has this kind of problem, this republic is thousands of years old.

meaning complacent?

Whatever, I'm just thinking this timeline may be over soon if the alsakans are so outmatched.
