Rise of the Old Masters is the episode that will be premiering on October 27th (it'll go on WatchDisneyXD.com this Monday, though). I've seen this episode twice now. First was at a press screening in LA in early September, the second was at New York Comic Con. It is, by far, the best episode of the series so far. Bar none. And not just in a "it's better than the others" way, but it's legitimately good. I've seen nothing but positive reactions to this episode, and I think people will enjoy it.

Basically, this episode has the rebels trying to save Luminara Unduli from the Spire, a prison on Stygeon Prime (a prison you'll recognize if you read Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir). For the first time, they come face to face with the Inquisitor.

Once you see it, post your reactions here.

WARNING for those who might watch the clip: If you watch carefully, there are some major spoilers for an upcoming episode.

Shitty clichéd dialogue aside, I'm glad they brought down the flips to just one, and the characters aren't bouncing around the place like inhuman ninjas. The fight choreography and framing of the shots actually felt very OT, with emphasis on stance and movements of the arms, the lighting was very OT as well.

Beyond that, the show is still pretty bad, so I'll reserve judgement beyond this scene until I see the whole thing. Still not a fan of the Inquisitor or his look.

This is from the episode that I think most people here will like, so I've gone ahead and merged this thread with the "Rise of the Old Masters" thread.

So lightsaber forms are canon again, then. Or theres at least three forms, but I wouldnt be surprised if they recanonized the forms as we know them. The Inquisitor pretty obviously uses Makashi, after all.

That's interesting - I had a feeling they would. Despite the practical gripes we have with them, they're an interesting bit of lore. I do like the underlying concept of different martial disciplines and styles.

I wasnt sure if they were or weren't canon since I never paid close enough attention to TCW to remember if they had been referenced.

I like the way that forms were referenced in this. Unlike the EU, which over-explained everything (and I'm sure the new canon books will do the same), Form III was just something the Inquisitor mentioned off-hand. But, his off-hand reference served to show how wholly inept Kanan is next to him, and how this is an enemy that knows everything about the Jedi.

Also, Depa Billaba. Guess she didn't learn Vaapad and go Dark Side. Well, not that we know of.

But the less Vaapad, the better.

Yeah. A New Dawn revealed she was his master. She'll also be in the Kanan comic. So odds are, you're right, she didn't go dark.

Also the Inquisitor said something about Kanan relying on Form III to a ridiculous extent...or something to that effect. Its worth noting that he looks on strict adherance to a single form worthy of disdain. This is because of his saber - we know he has a double-blade and will eventually use it, but the underlying idea of strict adherance = bad is a nice step away from lightsaber form canon in Legends.

EDIT: EDIT AGAIN: I was wayyyy off. Kanan does nothing BUT attack. So, its just idle banter with no adherance to the canon they're following. Way to drop the ball. :/

I remember something about Makashii saying that you weren't supposed to rely and depend on a single method; it encouraged you to try other ways of offense/defense if you at first failed. This kind of mentality would've leaked onto the Inquisitor, I suppose if it makes any sense.

Makashi duelists also trained themselves to avoid enslavement to form, as such devotion opened the practitioner to be defeated by unpredictable tactics — what Count Dooku dubbed "the unforeseen"

As quoted in wookiepedia.

I'm enjoying the show too. I'm not taking it too seriously though.
