You will soon see a lot of people wearing RED on Fridays. Here's why.....
The Americans who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, would like to start a grassroots movement using the membership of the Special Operations Association, and Special Forces Associations, and all their friends, simply to recognize that Americans support our troops. We need to inform the local VFW's and American Legion, our local press, local TV, and continue carrying the message to the national levels as we start to get this going. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday, and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every RED - blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV — let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of RED much like a home football game at a university.

If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear RED!

Let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

Please forward this to everyone you know!!

Wear RED on Fridays . SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!![/b]

I'm gonna do it. Just thought others of you might want to participate as well and remind everyone that this goes beyond politics. Our men and women overseas need to know that we're behind them and care about them.

I shall end up doing this too. We have a dress code at our school, we can only wear three color polo shirts; white, black, and red. I'll make sure I've got a clean red shirt to wear on Friday for this.

BECAUSE OF US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!![/b]

Fixed.

Anyone who wants America out of Iraq because "our sons and daughters" are getting killed or any bullshit like that is stupid. Only 3000 american soldier died in Iraq. That is nothing compared to the HUNDRED OF THOUSANDS of civilian death.

Get your priorities straight.

Dude, if you don't support our troops or have anything supportive to say, then don't post. Let's not make this whole thread a huge debate on whether or not the war is right. Okay, Mr. Canadian?

If you supported the troops, then do something more then wear red. It's a great sentiment, but it will accomplish little in changing anything or having the war end differently.

Oh, and I am completely Anti-Iraq, but this thread isn't for debating the war.

Also, parts of this "article" is somewhat ironic...or something of that nature.

a sea of RED[/b]
will be covered in RED[/b]

I support your soldiers, and wish them well. And as much as I want this war to end soon, it won't, as long as people like Bush are in a position of power, and people like Blair support him, this war will last for a much longer time.

So, that's about all I have to say.

And Tyrin, just because he is Canadian does not mean he knows less about the war. I can say for the most part, many Americans know far less then they need/have a right to know. Since Canada is not involved, we don't have anything that tries to divert from that knowledge.

Again, this isn't about how many people have died one bit. It's about a sense of pride in our men and women fighting overseas. Over the years Americans have lost patriotism and with the world constantly hating us because of decisions our leaders are making, it's not helping boost that patriotism. These men and women are overseas thinking that no one cares about them or is praying for them. All this is is a show of support for the troops. It's like being at camp and getting a letter from your parents to boost your moral. It's nice to know that someone out there cares. Many of these soldiers are serving their country whether they believe in the cause or not, because when they signed up they knew it was their duty to go where the call and need was. Can you do more? Yes, but why not try to remind those of us around the US that we have soldiers overseas desperate for some kind of support in the midst of all the hatred they're facing on a day to day basis?

And your president is doing a grand total of fuck all to stop the hatred.

Whats his idea of solving it? Sending more troops....Brilliant.

British troops do not get days dedicated to them because they do there job and come home, why do americans troops need it? IMO all this is doing is actually charging up support for the war rather then your troops out there.

1) Show respect to all members, regardless of whether you agree with their opinions.
2) Do not under any circumstances flame anyone, regardless of the situation.
4) Do not make ignorant statements that have stupid or no foundations

Folow the rules of the debate forum please, there was no need for that

70% of Americans are against the troop surge. It's not like we can really do anything to stop it. Saying "Americans are doing a grand total of fuck all to stop the hatred" groups every single US citizen together and that's uncalled for.

Patriotism is retarded. It's just a propaganda technique to boost one's army. It basically originated during the Second World War with NATIONAL-socialism.

Im pretty sure it arose in the 19th century with the growth of nationalism. Hence the reason why in world war 1, they had so man posters and stuff saying to defeat the evil hun and stuff like that.

Also why would anyone except for the sunnis want the U.S. to stay in Iraq? Bush probably doesnt either, he just wants to be sure we win the war first instead of leaving Iraq to its fate. Unlike in Somalia where we backed out early or Vietnam, we need to actually win instead of leaving the scene with our tails in between our legs in shame.

The Sunnis hate us more than anyone else in Iraq so I don't really see where you're coming from here.

Ok, that was extremely uncalled for. I bet it would be different if they were Canadian troops. Even if you don't care if Canadian troops died, I know somewhere in your heart, you don't want them to die; any of them. Yes, "only" 3,000 American soldiers died in Iraq, but that is 3,000 Fathers, Brothers, Teachers, Mothers, Students, etc. They aren't just a figure. They are real people like you and I. And most of the civilian deaths have all been caused from other civilians and/or sabotage. The American Troops are there to put an end to it. Really, all I have to say to you is: We are all human. It is horrible when any human dies, especially when another human is the cause of it.

You know, no one can really help it now, Dace. The citizens voted Bush into office. Whatever he does from that point on can't really be changed by us unless he were impeached. And just because British troops don't get days dedicated to them doesn't mean they don't need any. America is PATRIOTIC. We support our troops whether they need it or not. Not just because they are "doing there job and come home". They are trying their best in Iraq, and it isn't their fault what they get told to do by our President.

Patriotism isn't started by the government. It's started by the citizens of America. And the citizens of America aren't out to boost our army. We're out to boost our army's spirit and let them know that someone does care about them and what they are trying to do. And patriotism is centuries old. It didn't originate in WWII.

(EDIT: Almsot forgot to say that I'm going to buy a red shirt to wear for Fridays.)

I shall be wearing red tommorrow. Speaking from a military family, every time I see one of those yellow ribbons it warms my spirits, just to see that somebody cares about what is happening in this world. This is the same concept, and I thank you Kelly for sharing this with me.
