No limit on the amount of people or the knowledge needed. Sairu is a big place, plenty of room for everyone. :)

Even if you're not THAT familiar with the franchise, there's plenty of sites with all the info you could ever need, and more.

So, I have a question about my first capture. Should I PM you or just post it here?

Just post it here, so we all know it's not a legendary or anything silly like that.

Well, if you read Romolus' background he lives near and spends a lot of time near the research lab and ranch. I wanted his first catch to be a pokemon that he'd befriended at the Ranch; namely a wild Pikachu that likes to hang out near the generators set up for the electric types.

Fair?

What kind of pokemon hang around Northwind town? Is there any special types or just normals?

I'd say go for a Pichu first and evolve it, but I'm fine with whatever. :)

I left it open on purpose. Feel free to go with whatever you like, but in general normal, fire, ground, flying...

Appearance:
JeanEikelson.png

Name: Jean Eikelson
Age: 18
Hometown: Northwind Town

Personality: Jean is determined guy who wants to make a name for himself and his town. Whenever he meets a new trainer, he wants to push himself to win. A loss comes across as a failure of himself to raise his pokemon enough. He is harsh on himself in most situations and will never be happy with a win. There will always be areas for him to improve. In a more casual setting he can be a nice guy and is friendly with his pokemon. He and piplup were already very close from the start.

Pokemon:

Species: Piplup
393.png

Nickname: Pinguino
Gender: Male
Personality: Pinguino is a very upbeat pokemon and is social with others. When it comes to battle he is spurred by his trainer to be focused, but will often prefer to be silly. Despite this, he is great friends with Jean and would never leave him. This Piplup very much prefers the cold, and will often hide in its pokeball in warmer weather. In moderate to cold weather he likes to walk outside whenever possible, though he doesn't mind the pokeball.
Attacks: Pound, Growl, Bubble

Badges: None

Also, Gaja, I have one major suggestion/request for this RP, and I'm bringing it up here so everyone can weigh in...

Get rid of the game's 'four attacks and that's it' thing. It's an alright setup for the games, but for an RP, especially freeform, it's outright daft, as are some of the moves if you wanna stick with the game setup. I mean, what trainer in their right mind would make their Pokemon stop mid-combat to make it leer or growl at their opponent? And that pokemon 'forget' moves to make room for new ones also never really made sense to me. "Oh, Totodile forgot how to use his massive jaws to bite things. Oh well, I guess I'll have to feed him through a tube from now on."

Now, I'm not saying that you should go crazy with the moves your pokemon might know. A starting trainer wouldn't have a Charmander that knows Incinerate/Flamethrower, or a Totodile with Hydro Pump. Keep the moves and such it knows to what's suitable for the rough range in which you're in, but feel free to know more than just four.

That's my two cents on the subject anyway.

Player: Kiro
Name: Mio Nunagawa.
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Hometown: Arctic Flora Town.

5b424f8d-6056-4922-bac6-93216d90edc5_zpsolfpfwou.png

Personality: Mio is a curious trainer. She doesn't consider her Pokemon as her tool, nor as a pet, or even her friend or partner. No, to Mio, Cap, her Cubone, is her brother. She never forces him to spend time in a Pokeball if he doesn't wish to. She shares her meals with him. She trains with him. She shares every burden and joy with Cap, and is of the belief that all the Pokemon that might come under her care in the future will recieve that very same treatment.

The first thing anyone would tell you about Mio is that she has a heart of gold. Taking in and rescuing any pokemon in need ever since she could walk, as well as standing up to any bully that might cross her path, Mio has always done whatever she could to help those less fortunate than her. She also has a strong stubborn streak, and rarely backs down when she's decided on a course of action, but still has the sense to call a retreat if she realizes she's in over her head.

When Pokemon (or people) are in need, she has a tendancy to act first and let the consequences be damned. She doesn't care who or what you are; if you hurt a Pokemon needlessly, you -will- find your day ruined by a five foot three blonde.

Pokemon:

downloadfile-7_zpsbab0095a.gif

Species: Cubone
Nickname: Cap
Gender: Male
Personality: Cap can be summed up with three words: Tough, loyal, and protective. The young Cubone fiercely protective of Mio, whom he considers to be his adoptive sister more than his Trainer or a Master. He never backs down from any challenge, and refuses to surrender at the best of times, and especially if Mio is in trouble. Because of the deep bond between Mio and Cap, he trusts her utterly and completely, and is willing to try her wildest ideas in battle without hesitation.
Attacks:
Growl
Tail Whip
Bone Club

Badges: N/A
Other Info/Gear:
Pokédollar(s): $800
Bike.
PokéDex.
Pokemon Food.
6 Pokeballs.

(Sorry for the double post!)

I agree with Kiro, I think the RP being a little looser on that rule will help it flow a lot better.

sato-2_zpsuwiev2uy.jpg

(Don't worry, she won't be evil like Star Wars Sato.)

NAME: Sato Ryuu
GENDER: Female
AGE: 14
HOMETOWN: Spark Foam City

HEIGHT: 4'8"
WEIGHT: 90 lbs
HAIR: Black, pin-straight with a centre parting, falls down to her hips.
EYES: Dark brown
CLOTHES: School uniform.

PERSONALITY: An aloof and distant young girl stuck in middle school, Sato may come across as cold or eerie, to those who first meet her. In truth, the Japanese teenager means no harm, she simply prefers the company of pokemon to humans. A daydreamer and far more playful than her demeanour suggests, Sato does not enjoy school and struggles with her assignments. While she may look the innocent flower, she is often in trouble for skipping school, stealing and running away to search for pokemon. Despite the lack of interests she takes in her schoolwork, Sato puts a tremendous amount of effort into her pokemon training which she thoroughly enjoys. She enjoys nature and being around the water and can often be found hanging out by the docks of Spark Foam Lake. Aside from pokemon training, she likes reading manga, watching horror movies and anything cute.

sato-2a_zpsackuyket.gif

POKEMON: Eevee
Spr_2c_133.gif

NAME: Umeki
GENDER: Female

PERSONALITY: Her owner, Sato, has always had a habitually kind heart for pokemon in need and she rescued Umeki from a rescue centre a few years ago. The two have since become inseparable friends and Umeki is slowly learning to trust humans again after living with her owner. Still, the Eevee remains haughty and aloof, much like her owner and rules over her domain like a pampered cat. However, Sato's young age and fondness for pokemon often gets in the way of her training, she often spoils her Eevee too much, treating her more like a best friend rather then a competitor. Because of her harsh upbringing, Umeki has a tendency to be vicious towards unfamiliar people or anyone who treats her owner with hostility.

Kiro and Marf, accepted!!!

If you feel like RPing that way I have nothing against it.

I don't think I've made any rules to limit the number of attacks a pokemon can know. I trust everyone will take a look and have their pokemon learn attacks in due time. If they are uncertain of how to go about it, they can always consult the peeps in this thread. Naturally if we see someone just starting out and their pokemon knowing flame thrower or something of the sort, it'd be a red flag but stuff like forgetting moves won't happen in here unless the writer wants to get rid of it.

c0649b4ac8f526a01329f3ea29a9a2f7.jpg

Name: Keisuke Hayashi
Age: 20
Hometown: Lamprey Town

Personality:
Keisuke lives to be Nariko's older brother; in his eyes, that means making sure she is safe and provided for. Keisuke is a very secretive young man, and keeps his thoughts close to his chest; no one really get's anything from him other than a strong 'jerk' vibe. Keisuke's mother passed with an illnesses when he was a teenager, and his father -- a Pokémon professor -- left shortly after - moving on to another region, and leaving his children to the school system with only a financial security in the form of the family home outside Lamprey town. Their lives continued in a fairly normal manner until Keisuke finished school; whereas he was reserved before his mother's death, he now became totally withdrawn, and somewhat of a trouble-maker as he lashed out and got upset and angry. After he left school, government funding for his and Nariko's livelihood ran out, and whilst they still had the house, they had no money for expenses. Keisuke struggled to find a job, no one wanted to hire a guy with the reputation of a violent introvert. That attitude did draw the attention of a less reputable crowed though: Team Mystery. Keisuke quickly fell in to a life of a Team Mystery grunt with his Cyndaquil (he had wanted to be a trainer in his earlier teens) to earn a quick buck for the sake of his and his sisters survival; as he wouldn't contact their father due to pride and dislike for him. Nariko hated his decision, and the fact that her big brother had become what everyone said he was; she thought she knew better, but that doesn't stop her faith in him sometimes being shaken. This doesn't bother Keisuke though, as long as Nariko is safe and cared for.

Pokemon

120px-156Quilava.png

Species: Quilava
Nickname: -
Gender: Male

Personality:
Quilava used to be playful and a carefree counterbalance to Keisuke's stark and prideful character when they were younger; they were best friends and playmates. They did everything together, and that kind of connection can carry pain as well as love. So when Keisuke took a turn for the worst, when he stopped caring what the world thought of him, when he started hating it's resentment, Quilava fell into step. The Pokémon is still the far more amiable of the pair, but he seems to have taken on the severe attitude that Keisuke used to have. He is not so hateful or nasty as Keisuke, but simply austere, concerned with little else beyond Keisuke and Nariko, and occasionally attempting to rekindle Keisuke's youthfulness.

Attacks:
Quick Attack
Smoke Screen
Ember

Badges: None
Gear:
Backpack
Map
Pokéballs
Running Shoes

968.gif

Name: Nariko Hayashi
Age: 15
Hometown: Lamprey Town

Personality:
Moxie doesn't do well enough to sum up the fire in Nariko's stomach and the tenacity of her integrity and friendship, but it comes about as close as it gets. Nariko loved her big brother very overtly as much as he cared for her from behind his cool mask, and they got on so well before their families fortune took a turn for the worse. Since Keisuke declined into his life of crime, he has been cold and dismissive towards Nariko, and it breaks her heart. Since she is a strong and persistent spirit however, she does well to cover up her misgivings and sorrows with a highly competitive attitude, determination to prove her worth (as she gets no recognition from her brother), and all around hotheadedness. She found a friend and surrogate brother in her schoolmate Romolus, who she likes to emulate in attitude and daringness to gain his attention; even going so far as to copy his bandages, although she doesn't need them.

Pokemon

120px-595Joltik.png

Species: Joltik
Nickname: Yaki
Gender: Male

Personality:
For all that it mattered to the little Pokémon, any unhappiness in the world may not have existed. Yaki lives to have fun and be happy, and only show's signs of being upset when his sister Nariko is upset. Yaki is deathly afraid of Kaisuke's Quilava, and is consistently furious with Keisuke himself, but other than that, there's not stopping the wee beastie. Exceedingly energetic, outgoing, and brave, the little Joltik is as ready to take on any task as it's friend Nariko is, and is so super excited to be doing so.

Attacks:
Leech Life
Thunderwave
Cross Poison (egg move)

Badges: None
Gear:
Backpack
Map
Pokéballs
Running Shoes
Pokédex

Alright, cool.

Also, Ben, I think none of us can start with an Evolved Pokemon, so that Quilava'll have to go back to being a Cyndaquil, I'm afraid. Though, as Gaja's the GM, I'll have him have the final say.

I'm pretty sure Ben asked Gaja for permission based on his character being a Mystery Grunt and being older than the rest of the characters by more than 2 years.

I haven't asked Gaja yet. I was going to before posting but wasn't online and I'd already typed it and all so I thought I'd just put it up and let him make the call. But yeah, I am thinking he's going to be more of a supporting character to Nariko anyway, so I'm not going to be going around bashin' peeps or trying to.

Ok so are these two going to be traveling together, or what's the deal here? I'm leaning towards Kiro's opinion here quite a bit in that he's still a rookie trainer so it's not like he gets extra point for being older or anything. If he's an NPC, in a mostly supporting role I guess it'd be fine but I'd appreciate if you shared your thoughts a bit more. I also appreciate you stating that he won't go around attacking other peeps or anything of the sort.
