"Path of the Jedi" is now available on WatchDisneyXD.com. I just got done watching it. I liked it a lot. Nice nods to The Clone Wars and the OT. It was a very good episode about what it means to be a Jedi.

Ik, I meant what episode number.

It seems to be when I search up Star Wars Rebels Episode 8, Google seems to tell me that it is called Gathering Forces over here then when I go to a star wars site like this one, it tells me it is the eighth episode.

The episode count depends on whether or not places consider Spark of Rebellion to be an episode at all, or possibly two even, due to its length.

Officially it is Episode #8. Spark of Rebellion counts as a movie, not an episode, and Droids in Distress is officially Episode #1.

I loved the imagery in this episode. Nice, simple, but evocative. And, of course, Frank Oz back on board as Yoda was a nice touch too.

I do have a theory out of this now.

Notice how... enthusiastic Yoda sounds, talking to both Ezra and Kanan. Like, he seems so happy to actually be able to teach someone again. Sure, this may be leaping to conclusions, considering otherwise how little of what Luke and Yoda's total time together must have been, but one wonders if perhaps part of why he's so more weary by the time of Empire is that he's had his hopes severely raised, and then struck down, by whatever happens to the pair.

Possibly, but I have a feeling that whatever his hopes would be for Kanan and Ezra, as well as other Jedi who are out there, would be about ensuring the survival of the Jedi Order. If his hopes are dashed it would presumably be because that effort failed, and by the time of Episode IV, the only Jedi left are Obi-Wan and Yoda (plus Luke, sort of). I say that mainly because Luke had a very specific mission and destiny, in Yoda and Obi-Wan's point of view. It runs parallel to what you're suggesting, but isn't entirely the same.

What they could do is say that by the time of Episode VI, because Yoda was dying, Luke as the last Jedi was not responsible for continuing what Yoda was trying to do. That could presumably carry into Episode VII. For example, one of the ideas I've heard about why Luke is off in hiding is because he is training a new generation of Jedi, far away from the dangers of the Empire and the Rebellion. Perhaps he learned the lessons of the Rebels era.

That idea came to me because Episode VI is the first time we see any mention of Luke being responsible for the continued existence of the Jedi Order.

Attitude-wise, I think the Yoda in this episode is akin to the eccentric Jedi we saw in part of Episode V. Yoda only got super serious as a result of his cynicism over Luke's potential to fulfill his destiny.

So just watched the Episode FINALLY. Ezras saber looks like an early concept for the cross guard saber. And then theres the Inquisitors saber as well. Maybe they really are taking Lightsabers in a new direction. ^_^

That is a smart idea.

EDIT: Watched the episode. It was pretty interesting. Glad that they brought in Yoda. I hope further in the series, Ezra turns to the dark side, then turns back to the light side. It would be pretty interesting.

I enjoyed the episode, just didn't like the concept of how the Jedi set up their training temples.

On the saber I get the idea of having to ad hoc a saber and actually like it especially in these times. I just think having his saber double as a blaster is kind of lame. As I had said to Brandon we would have made fun of anyone who tried that on SWRP. On the bright side at least he is getting a blaster. I hope that while it is a stun blaster that it functions visually the same in that he shoots somebody and they fall down.

Wait, you would have made fun of someone for trying something new? o_o That seems kinda mean.

Not for the fact of trying something new, but because the idea is fairly dumb.

I agree. It looks fairly clunky and a pain to make good use of. I don't fault the designers for attempting to create a new type of lightsaber, but I do wish they would've sat down and came up with something a bit less terrible than that.

Really late for a comment, but I like this episode. We wrote a short knock off thread if anyone is interested in reading. There are a few of us intending to work off of this thread for the proposal of a Jedi outpost.

I really dislike that WatchDisneyXD and stuff like that, which are broadcasted internationally, have sites that are US only. It's the World Wide Web. Really hampers EU fans that didn't get to watch the live premiere.
