The transport rumbled softly as it soared across the road, the rain providing natural music as drops continually smacked into the metal chassis. Duke sat in a seat next to fellow Rangers as there had been a call about a robbery at a hotel that had taken place and had led to some collateral damage. Word had already spread like wildfire that force users were the ones behind the plot and that drew in the anti-force protesters, like moths to a light. They had shown up in force around the scene to let their opinion be known.

Duke peeked through the passenger window and could see red and blue lights as they whipped across the buildings and lit up anything in their vicinity. Chants could be heard from outside as well and the signal that they had arrived. When the transport stopped and the doors slid open, he stepped out of it and into the rain as it soaked through his trench coat immediately. The other Rangers flooded behind the holographic tape, positioning themselves at weak points in the perimeter and helping the city cops hold the pedestrians back. As he navigated deeper, one of the cops approached and held up his hand to have him stop but instead, he pulled out his Ranger badge and flashed it to the man. The cop scoffed slightly, annoyance coming off him, "Rangers, apparently, one of you guys helped cause the frenzy." He shrugged slightly as he walked side by side with the man, "We plan to handle that, don't worry." It was a Ranger's bright idea to fire a shot into the crowd. There was a first for everything.

"Let's focus on what's at hand. What's the situation?" One thing at a time, the scene was chaos. The cop pointed to the alleyway that was damaged, "We have some injured civilians inside the building. The protesters are slowing things down but we're cleaning out debris in the meantime." Duke peered around, noting the streets as he familiarized himself with the area quickly. He placed one hand on the cop's shoulder before pointing down a road once he came up with a layout, "Send some men down there and create a path for the ambulances. Set up a checkpoint at Rollin, for those we can't airlift, we'll use the roads and try to contain traffic." With the storm that was taking place and the general air traffic, he didn't want to wait and put more lives at risk with a slow response.

The cop nodded and jogged off to go and follow his orders. Duke then took his turn to jog as he made his way over to the alleyway. There were cops and firemen as they pulled away rocks and other debris to create a path into the building. When he stepped under the cover of the roof, he slipped his trench coat off and threw it on a dusty chair to reveal a long sleeve shirt and shoulder holster.
"How many people?" The nearest firemen turned to him and held up the number four with his fingers before returning to lifting the rocks. Duke quickly came in beside him, helping lift rocks with a groan as he pushed them out of the way.

Trys was barely back on the job before she was pulled into chaos. She had arrived on the scene just in time to have to suspend a fellow Ranger. The ensuing PR nightmare was going to follow them for weeks. Things were bad enough with the galaxy largely wary of Force users, but that Ranger firing into a crowd certainly made things worse.

She had to use her fame to calm down the crowds, her story about facing Sith having spread like wildfire. Trys had been the one to summon the other Rangers, along with calling in medical speeders. The crowds were the biggest problem, and then media showed up to make matters worse.

Trys could hear her name being shouted by several reporters, and she ignored it all. She made her way towards the inside of the building, bringing a few more people with her to look for any other injured civilians. As she stepped in, she saw a familiar face. She had to look at him for a few seconds for it to register who it was.

“Duke?” Trys said, a little unsure. She still was unclear on how much she could trust her memories. She knew Duke to be operating mainly in the Outer Rim, and she didn’t know if he had actually moved out. Her memories left off when they were still back in Nar Shaddaa and he had talked about going to Naboo.

Each rock was moved with a grunt of effort by each man and woman that was helping clear it. Duke had his shoulders and most of his shirt covered in dust within just a few minutes of the work. His focus was on the people trapped beneath the rubble and barely caught the approaching sound of footsteps behind him. He was about midway through lifting a rock when he heard his name called from behind by a voice he hadn't heard in a long time. The sound of it cut through the rest easily like a knife through butter. The rock simply dropped from out of his fingers as he turned around to find Trys standing right there.

Duke just stared at her for a moment, not really knowing what to say at the moment. He had received the call to provide backup to the scene but he hadn't checked who had it been from, the radio flooded with different officers and requests that took his attention. His emotions performed somersaults inside him and a couple of them landed and a few of them didn't, as he was slammed by a wall with a variety of them at her appearance. The reveal of Crix was still at the forefront of his mind and plagued him often. Even through all of it though, it was a sight for sore eyes.

After the second passed, he walked over and closed the distance so they could hear each other better, his eyes locked on hers. "Trys... you're a welcomed surprise. It's good to see you again." He regretted that they had fallen out of contact and he hadn't intended for their reunion to be at a crime scene but it was the nature of their work. It had been months since they have seen each other and he didn't know whether to offer a handshake or a hug but before he could make a decision, a flux of officers and firemen ran towards the rubble to continue the grueling process. Duke quickly returned to work mode as he flicked his head toward the mess before walking after the men, "Four people inside. We're moving it but it's slow right now."

He couldn't help but smirk as he began to lift another rock while casting a glance at Trys, "I wasn't intending for this to be our first meeting back."
