BN and Nite, that's quite enough. Thank you.

Conflict is seldom personal and often situational. Or so they taught me at corporate seminars. Also something about sexual harassment.

Anywho, the way I always saw it is that Sith Sorcery or whatchamacallit is situational. I don't see any need to regulate it because it seems to me that given that The Force is a discrete and universal force and that the energies necessary for way more basic stuff can be broken down into rounds, and thus any attempt to use Sith Sorcery in situ would be heavily constrained by the usual pressures of combat.

Which means Sith could possibly be used as big ol' artillery batteries on the battlefield (same for Jedi with some of their more arcane shtick.) Whether the site staff is willing to go that far in terms of combat maximalism is another question entirely. I don't see a lot of inherent balancing issues to the concept itself other than people's egos getting in the way.

Which given this thread...

Hrn. Yeah. Best of luck!

Which is why I've chosen illusion, force empower, and a skill to increase hearing (for a short amount of time).

Obviously there's limiting factors. I mean we can't all summon an inferno capable of wiping out a continent like Darth Bane. Most characters just don't have the midichlorians for it.

Or Supernova a Sun to wipe out a Solar System like Sadow did, or summon illusions of Star Fleets that could ACTUALLY lay siege to planets...obviously it needs SOME regulations I agree but not a nerf into the ground as BN and Kiro suggest. I mean people get pissy about this but we don't complain about insta kill moves or auto hits like Drain Life or Spear of Midnight Black, chill bros, chill.

Actually, if it's a ritual, I'm sure people could do it. The staff would just likely come up with a logical reason as to why they shouldn't or the costs would be so heavy (you can only do it with the blood sacrifice of dozens of PCs for example) that it would be unfeasible.

Hard limits beyond what we see in-canon are problematic, but as always I defer to staff judgment.

Sometimes I wonder if I should stop being sarcastic when people take anything to do with midichlorians seriously...

But they are canon. And who could ever object to midichlorians? HMMM? HMMMM?

From my light dabbles in it with Illusia I tried to keep it as close to Canon as possible without venturing too far into unknown parts. With the Force being such a unique nature the limits are really endless. I've had her go as far as make small rooms look like larger ones to having her manipulate her cloak to be able to take a stronger hit than it normally could.

As long as you keep it realistic and don't cross the line of making your character unstoppable you're okay for the most part.

This site would run so much more smoothly if everyone did that.

Just saying, Drain Life and Spear of Midnight Black are not auto hits or insta-kill. They can be countered or dodged.

Yeah, I've always wondered about that. Could these be countered by themselves, or blocked by Force Deflection? I can't see why they couldn't be, but not sure. I know Lightning can be, so why not these?

Spear of Midnight Black can be dodged if you're quick enough, though be careful in case you face a Master of the technique as I believe the darkside energy can be guided with enough will and power. Drain Life I just recommend finding some other life to throw into its path; a small mammal or even a bug could theoretically be placed between you and the attack and unless it is one of the "forked" variety that come with being a master, that life energy will take the attack and be drained, leaving you unharmed.

Again this is theory. I prefer to only use Drain Life on the fatally injured NPCs in an area, as I feel that some video game force powers are a little too OP given that game mechanics and writing don't always mix.

Even with 'forked' Drain Life, it's just another method of energy attack. In theory, it could also be blocked by Tutaminis(Force Protect, Force Absorb ect.) and not always must an animate object be used. Throwing a table into the path of the Drain Life and at your opponent will cause the Drain Life to hit the table and do no damage. Drain Life is honestly made to seem more scary than it is because a Lightsaber can't block it.
Lightsabers can't block force push either, but there are ways to counter that, yes?

Using another living being to block the attack seems much cooler though :CCry1

Do you carry a jar of bugs around in your pocket for such occurances? Seems kind of convenient to just 'happen' along a life force just as the attack is coming, eh? :p

I'm sorry, I live in Florida so when I'm outside there are quite a few bugs. Everywhere.

Especially goddamn love bugs.

Edit: and let's be honest, I would just grab the nearest person and shove them in between me and it.
