''- with a predicted rise of 7% over the next three months, we anticipate a sizable uptick in the demand for cbersecurity in the regions shown on your datapads.'' Julia addressed the executives over the holonet, as a few nodded along to what she was saying.

''This is a competative sector Julia, one we cannot just muscle in -''

''Competition should not be a limiting factor, rather something we rise to meet. Systech has the leverage we need to enter this field and meet the costs associated with any competative elements, Mik has assured me of that fact personally.'' there where murmers of approval from her team.

She had been on the call now for thirty minutes, roughly twenty-nine to long in her opinion. ''Security during a war. Nobody can deny the demand for this. We already operate in the chemicals trade, with a sizable income that this generates, we can easily sustain bolstering our considerable internal security services into a marketable commodity.'' she sighed, this was proving to be hard ''You've got your intructions. I want the case on my desk tomorrow, midday - Etti time.'' she ended the call.

Julia let out a deep breath.

Why did people have to be so difficult?

''Privacy mode.'' the ship darkened, the interstellar communcations network on the vessel locking up to prevent disturbances. Opening her desk, she took out a commlink - with only one number on it. Kara.

She dialed the number.

In her office in the back of the Quick-Draw Cantina, Kara was in a meeting of her own. "What can I say?" she shook her head, not that anyone could see because the KnowOnes slicers always scrambled their holo, and took a sip of the lemon-flavored water on her desk, "we know that the rangers did an operation on Nar Shaddaa and afterwards their presence on the Net took a dive here on Coruscant." for years the KnowOnes had been actively pursued by a slicing member for the Sector Rangers, curtailing their expansion due to an increased need for netsecurity. Now he seemed to have stopped, but some KnowOnes thought it was a trick while others were convinced that the ranger had died at the hands of the Sith like so many had in the last half decade. Kriff, it was almost a saying in the underworld: "Run from a ranger long enough for the Sith to catch up to him." Until that new Empress decided the Sith should be coming for the underworld too, at least.

There was some chatter on the other side, but Kara got distracted when a commlink in one of her desk's drawers started buzzing and she took it out wondering why she had it and who could be calling her over the encrypted line. "I gotta take this, but if there's a vote then I say let's do it." They had acquired the ranger's monitoring dataplague and were actively wondering whether or not to infect the personal devices of every member of the Galactic Senate. Imagine the leverage Marissa would have on their own senator, Caliban Drast, or the leaders of the senate factions. It was a credit printing press if Kara had ever seen one.

She killed her connection to the KnowOnes meeting and exited the encrypted network before she answered the long-distance call. By this time she had remembered who the device connected to.. the former governor of Lashbane who took a bribe from Preef Callo. "Rache Robotics," she smiled, she always like answered her comm pretending to be one of the Coruscant lower level shops the KnowOnes were rumored to be connected to, "What can I Fix for you today?"

She scowled as Kara answered the call. ”You’re really quite annoying, do you know that?” the executive snapped down the phone, these underworld types always did have a flair for the dramatic, and right now she could not be bothered with indulging it.

”It’s been a quite a challenging few weeks for you no doubt?” she began, referring to the recent murder of Preef Callo, the person who had opened up the line of communitication between the two of them in the first place. ”The recent changes to your organisation are unfortunate, but I hope the vision of the group has not changed?” Julia continued ”It is a vision I believe we could all get behind?”

Julia had been involved with the crime family for years, she’d killed her first husband on their instruction - the man had threatened to rat her out to the police, something she was not about to allow. Her loyalty to the Zaa Fenn was without question.

”Opportunities have presented themselves. The expansion of our operations across some hitherto uncharted areas for us. Interested?” she asked.

Standing from her seat in the ship, the executive walked toward one of the large floor to ceiling screens on the side of the room. She stared at the tickers presented, various arms companies, shipping conglomerates and more where shown, with the three she personally cared about pinned in the top right hand corner.

Blackwell. Systech. Canto Distribution.

When she wasn’t taking backhanders from Zaa Fenn, she made her fortune through her positions within those three companies, and of course, from her shares in all three. But it was not enough. The galaxy would soon be on fire, and she intended to sell the flamethrowers, and the extinguishers.

”There are other players in this field, and it’s going to get nasty - fast. We both have our parts to play in this production Ms. Lok, and they must be played to perfection.” she scowled as one of the stock tickers dropped, and then looked away from it ”It won’t be cheap, but resources are not an issue - I need to know you are ready to commit fully to what I ask, to commit to a course of action that will thrust us into the heart of this conflict.”
