The wind was quiet and calm on this night.
The moons hung in the sky and shined brightly, a cool breeze washed over the area after night fall and made the outside actually bearable to go about one's business. The settlement was known as Zendella, fairly small but was having itself a little bit of a boom from recent corporation involvement due to resources that could be mined sufficiently and at a good rate. Hardly any competitors in this region to boot. Although there were some ruins nearby that were said to be haunted in some fashion or another but most just figured it was the local sand people who hung out around there. Maybe out of a spiritual obligation or just liked the rocks, Vale wasn't sure and didn't really care.
"You think this is a good place Durdge?"
Said Vale as she lit up her thin cigara, the end burnt brightly against the dark night as they looked out from the little food-stand ran by a lone droid who beeped and tweeted along with the rhythms of his work. Durdge, a personal battle droid that she recently had made to order from a dealer back on Nar Shadda, spun around in his seat and took a brief look around the settlement.
"A bit of a dump, don't you think?"
Vale giggled to herself quietly before taking another drag, awaiting her order from the droid.
"See, that's why you need to broaden your processor a bit. You have to spot opportunity when it's right in front of you."
The droid emitted a small grunt as she waved him off lightly, turning to the droid as it served up her bowl of noodles and recently gutted sand worm. Still steaming right out of the pot, she poked and prodded around with her chop sticks before getting a nice pinch of it together and slurped it quietly. After she was done with the first bite, she turned back around, wiping her mouth gently.
"Although I can say we'd have to invest in the food.. A little too exotic for people who might pass through. Maybe we'll just add spices."
The droid sat in silence.
Vale sighed before leaning over and gave his head a few knocks.
"Think I'll have to upgrade that personality core of yours. Definitely a little on the dull side."
Vale let out a sigh before she looked up and noticed a small club on the other side of the dusty street, the sound of music filled the air. Castravian jazz? A classic she had heard of before and it really could set the mood. They probably had drinks too, she definitely felt the need for a few after such a dull evening so far. Trotting over to the other side with her droid, they entered the smoky open floor with many smaller sectional seatings carved into half circle areas off to the side. She took her place in one of the alcoves, setting her coat aside as she called one of the hosts to bring her one of their flavored water pipes. The droid stood at attention right outside the alcove, rifle holstered and watching intently over the room for anything that could be out of the ordinary.
Suddenly a set of droids took to the stage adorned with ropes and flags, signifying other settlements that they were connected and old paintings over the stone stage that signified very old tribes that used to traverse this area during a time where civilization here was rather bare. Some even that of the sand people. This place had a charm and Vale could feel herself settling in the idea of expanding here. It was much safer than Nar Shaddaa after the infestation that occurred. Nasty business with the Hutt being executed as well. Further away from all that the better she believed.
The droids began emitting wonderful displays of colored holograms, seemingly projecting a journey through the stars as they began to play music they had synthesized themselves. Through the slight high over coming her from the water pipe mixed with an imported fruit that produced a slight psychedelic effect, she laid herself down, head propped up ever slow slightly watch as the room dimmed to let the music and mood fully take the room.
Perhaps it was the slight high but she felt a sensation. She had always thought it simply to be her gut telling her something important was about to occur but for it to be here of all places was strange to say the least, she let her eyes drift about the room as she called out to Durdge.
"Stand down boy.. I think there's something.. Or someone here and I don't want you tugging that leash too hard."
The droid quietly took a seat next to Vale and powered down for the eventual encounter.
